Good call Spartacus! Since the words "queer" and "alien" are similar in meaning...makes perfect sense. A dandy Alien's got to do somethin' for entertainment on those cold, dark, planetoid nights. ~N

Does he know any "Supertramp?", I am in the mood for a little "Fool's Overture" !!! Just look at the picture and let's all sing along with The Xeno... History recalls how great the fall can be While everybody's sleeping, the boats put out to sea Borne on the wings of time It seemed the answers were so easy to find "Too late," the prophets cry The island's sinking, let's take to the sky Called the man a fool, striped him of his pride Everyone was laughing up until the day he died And though the wound went deep Still he's calling us out of our sleep My friends, we're not alone He waits in silence to lead us all home So tell me that you find it hard to grow Well I know, I know, I know And you tell me that you've many seeds to sow Well I know, I know, I know Can you hear what I'm saying Can you see the parts that I'm playing "Holy Man, Rocker Man, Come on Queenie, Joker Man, Spider Man, Blue Eyed Meanie" So you found your solution What will be your last contribution? "Live it up, rip it up, why so lazy? Give it out, dish it out, let's go crazy, Yeah!"

Snorks, ok, let me throw this twist at you. How in Alien Blu-Ray it says that a xenomorph can swing 5-11kph and a Queen can produce 15EPH if neither were meant to be? Albeit I just noticed Brett was half turned into a Facehugger Egg and about to have his face zippered up into it the other day What you are saying makes total sense, though. Think of it like this Ruffles (Pred) for Ridges and a Baby smooth bottom (Human) for Domes. But then again A3 throws a curve ball with the dog/cattle breed. Let me ponder this one for a bit. With the exception there was nothing docile about the Ridged Head Aliens. You aare probably recalling the scene where they obeyed the Queen to back off in Aliens and the hospital scene in A3. What blows my mind is the understanding between the queen and ripley when she used the flamethrower to leverage the queen into calling off the mob that was about to decend upon her and newt. Rick

You have my sympathyPrometheus ForumThe Prometheus will ruin the mysteries in Alien?
I'm afraid that started with Aliens when the creatures life cycle, so unknown and mysterious, was relegated to that of an insect. From something that was wholly alien and very unsettling, James Cameron managed to make the "bugs" so very easy to kill, from a single creature that out-thought it's human victims to a dumbed down mindless cricket. I think Ridly Scott will want to get away from any link to Aliens, 3 and Resurrection and relaunch the ALIEN with, hopefully, a Scott produced back-story now requires to undo the damge done to the legend by those 3 miscreants.

I don't know...I wouldn't minding knowing why the goo on the eggs was dripping upwards when Kane entered the cargo hold. Or even what clawed it's way through the floor in the space jockey chamber? I think there is so much mystery in regards to the derelict itself that there are many avenues/portals one could go through and not have any of those mysteries expounded but new ones created! Like why we shouldn't kill aliens!

SpartacusPrometheus ForumThe Prometheus will ruin the mysteries in Alien?
I know the answer to the goo question. Ridley Scott told me On the commentary of the Quadrilogy Box Set... He said.."Spartacus, this is for you...I did that for effect...I thought it looked cool and would freak people out, so I filmed the Eggs upside down." Actually I think there was more to it like the physical space and set up for the shot/scene was done in a way that he had no choice but to film it upside down, but when they all noticed the effect on the dripping liquid on the EGG, they agreed it had to stay in, the effect was just to awesome, or something like that. As a matter of fact if memory serves I think they had a guy laying there with an eye-dropper constantly bathing the egg in liquid so as to be sure that upside down effect was clearly noticeable!!!

Honestly the thought of the crew mutating into xenomorphs (at any stage) would be intense beyond belief. The part that has me concerned is the alien-impregnation concept. What type of 'alien' would she give birth to? Seeing as she does not die in the process, and this is pre-face-hugger, it seems like the creature actually survives. Does she lay the first egg? (I'm not suggesting that as a plausible theory, just saying...) My question is how do we get to a ship filled with Alien eggs.....

Sometimes good screenplays can be poorly executed (insert example here). But sometimes average screenplays can be elevated to something special - dare I say it, the original screenplay for Alien (called Starbeast) was on the whole average. It took Sir Ridley, his team and serendipity to pull Alien out of the doldrums and into an unparalleled plane. I've not been convinced about Jon Spaights - maybe nor was Sir Ridley (hence Damon Lindelof). But you can trust that whatever the screenplay finally looked like, this director is the sort to change things while in the flow of it - usually to the benefit of the final production. Therefore, I tend to have faith in something good being delivered. P.S. I read somewhere that Jon Spaights had distanced himself from the "Alien Harvest" script that's been circulating the Web - another reason to be optimistic.

GuestPrometheus ForumWhen does the company end?
In my opinion "The Company" is one of the greatest villains ever concocted! Even the given name of "Weyland" is weighty, corporate and sinister all at the same time. There was a '100 greatest villains ever' show a couple years back in the UK and I think the Xenomorph was in the top ten (Vader was number 1, naturally). But "The Company" merited a berth on its own. I thought it was a bad move not keeping "The Company" in Alien: Ressurection. They might as well not have kept the Xenomorph! Point being, "The Company" is as important as Ripley or the Xenomorph, it makes up part of the trinity that is the Alien universe, in my opinion. USM is a piece of crap. Quite frankly, Wal-Mart would have been a better billing. Now that you guys mention it, Wal-Mart could be an ingenious idea: by that time in the future, Wal-Mart could be so large and powerful that it does indeed have a "weapons division" hell-bent on gaining a competitive advantage. And yes, I do believe it is entirely feasible for a firm to last three or even four hundred years - maybe not in name, as firms get merged and acquired - maybe Weyland acquired it, and then it merged with Yutani :)

I like what you wrote very very much "Starbeast" Some comments: I still noticed similarities between the 2 setups "vise a vise" the Companies. "USM" was being run by a Mad Scientist Type Dr. with an Agenda, and General Perez was a crooked smuggler with significant enough knowledge of Ripley's "Former Activities" and such a primarily military mindset that it did not seem to matter, one could rationalize that whatever "Mother" was composed of in the past eventually led to "Father" being in control of it all in the future all the same...and with what seemed obviously to be the same or close to the same prime directive of similarly manipulative and Evil intent. The name was 100% Lame though you are right, and it seemed to lack any truly imaginative thought just like you said man, dead bang on the money. The scenes of the Queens In the Container were absolutely glorious...The film had it's moments, but overall was not up to the intellectual level for sure of the first or second films, and in the case of the second film that ain't saying much either though. We know from how the name of the company was created by it's creator now that the intent was never merged firms but rather one big one named "Wayland", and the rest was assumed by the Franchise's fan base. I agree also about it being entirely feasible for a firm to last that long as well. Funny stuff about "Wal-Mart" man, you're right and that's some funny stuff. Never The Less, there were some wonderful moments for me in that film, it had a few, but not that many. And some of My favorites weren't even In the Theatrical Release...but rather the Re-Done Quadrilogy Box Set Cut. Very thought provoking commentary man, Cheers!

Well the campaign is aimed to add some history to the alien saga so of course it's going to be scripted, but I think that this game will shine in Multiplayer. I hope that the maps will have alot of vent systems, ceilings, floors, etc, for the aliens to move in. And one thing that is really needed is the ability to WALK, this way you won't be detected by the movement captor as an alien. So you can do some surprise attacks :). Walking is possible in AvP (2010) but there is always some random predators to shoot you miles away with their freaking laser cannon while you're trying to sneak.

Way too scripted for me, give me random alien encounters with multiple paths to take in the facility! Look at the concept of Left 4 dead and expand on it, create many rooms and entrances that you can cut or weld depending on the situation. I don't want a linear path of rooms and hallways, I want a full facility to navigate. Imagine the AI periodically swapping the behavior of the aliens from being incredibly aggressive and careless with their lives to being more sneaky. This game on the other hand just looks like an interactive movie, those are never fun. :(

Unfortunately are games like Call of Duty that have ruined the market ....they do alot of money with heavily scripted , predicable , "oh cool" games that are good for who dont want to use brain to solve a situation ... they tell you everything to do and every "emotion" is scripted ...interactivity and intelligence are gone . Left for Dead ,you are right is an excellent game ... and his multiplayer is awesome and an Aliens game's MP should be exactly like that

Lookit, I have to do this... this game is already AMAZING you can see it from the games trailer already it is absolutely amazing. It also quite unique in that "Gearbox" was given the license and go-ahead By Fox to make THE STAND ALONE FOR IT a "DIRECT AND NEW STORY SEQUEL TO THE FILM "ALIENS"". in other words, the Multi-player is not going to be as fantastic as the stand alone part of it is. What we have here in this game is FINALLY an Alien related franchise video game that KICKS BUTT and takes no prisoners and to anyone that has any doubts just look at this thing...are you NUTZ? I for one can't wait and have already pre-ordered it, it's a NO BRAINER...this game ROCKS ALL ALIEN VIDEO GAMES EVER MADE ALREADY !!! did you check the video? all if it? you can use the APC's and the Power Loaders as well. The ONLY wish I have for this type of game is having an option for 3rd person view, but they never put one in them so I picked up Aliens Vs Predators for like 19 bucks, and it's 10 bucks now, but I did that just to get used to the first person view, and it did not take me long. Looks like an expansion and improvement on that game and for me, that's FANTASTIC news...and I have no worries. I can tell already from the trailer I posted for you what I will be getting and I Love it already. That said Frantz, I respect your opinion and , as always with video games, there is that slight chance they will screw it all up and it'll suck, but from that 11 minute demo I do not see how that is possible now, I want it Just to go through and see the new sequel story to ALIENS. Potential Bonus: At the very end of the last one I mentioned "Aliens Vs Predators"...Bishop has found the co-ordinates to the Xeno home world.

maybe we have veeery different tastes in videogames ...im not interested in driving an apc , or a loader ...i want to be scared in a corridor fearing to find an alien after the next corner and with few ammos left ... and that cannot be done in a 3rd view . I play with PC and ive no really an idea how a 1st person game can be played with a pad !! must be a pain !! ( and it shows in the video , it take 3 hours to aim )

That game has been made primarily for console play Frantz, but I feel your pain. The First one I mentioned Aliens VS predators has that feel to it pretty damn good!!! You should rent it and see what I mean, not sure if the PC version is as much fun or as easy to use as the console is, But on the PS3 that Aliens VS Predators Games was the best value for 19 bucks I have ever had with any video game what so ever, I finished the game a long time ago but it is so much fun that I still play a little of it every day... I wanted exactly the same thing, an Alien video game that recreates that scary atmosphere of the first film and 100% Aliens VS Predators does that, or at least the console version does, and once you finish the game through on any difficulty it unlocks all the different sections of the game so you can go back and play them over and over individually. The first level of the game and a few of the later ones do it too, recreate that scary feeling pretty amazingly!!! Give it a chance Frantz, I do not think you will be disappointed at all. Also, just a suggestion, I think you should fork up the $200 or whatever it costs you and buy a PS3, it has a pretty decent blue ray player and lots of other useful things you would appreciate. I am sure

OF course i will give it a chance . no im more for PC games like total war serie , strategic and first person shooters so no way for consoles ( far cry 2 and Dead island are both ruined to have been made primarly for consoles ) ...

I have seen some incredible PC Gaming set ups Frantz, I understand you, and with the right graphics you can do way way more with a PC set up, BUT, the trade off I find is ease of game play and expense...it costs a lot to set up the ultimate PC system, but it's getting easier and you can route your game play to any LCD anyways so I understand like I said. The Best...would be if they ever figure out to let us all play with each other online but Cross Platform !!! That way you and I could play together, you on your PC, me on my console, that would be the Best !!! And to be able to play a Multi-player version together... ...cross platform style...online...of the stand alone version of the game.

...i want to be scared in a corridor fearing to find an alien after the next corner and with few ammos left ... I totally agree with that. I play videogames (PC) for about 25 years. I played my first "Aliens" with that incredible Commodere 64 in the mid 80`s. 12 years later I felt very frightened by "System Shock". It was revolutionary then back in the 90`s. Mutants all around. Always in search for ammunition. I felt free to go around in the whole ship. Great game concept. Give me that feeling with Alien. Sorry for my bad english. To play together online would be great.

Let's hope it measures up to your assumptions then. But I personally don't know 'GOD'...as I'm an aethiest who merely reckons the universe (or multi-verse?) expanding around us is simply the result of some unknown, non-'supernatural', purely natural process... However, I'm definately looking forward to the speculative notion of an even older 'evolved' species to us, possibly being our actual progenetors. Others may wish to believe that this 'superior' species to us were themselves originally brought about by an all-powerful 'creator' of 'everything' though...so everyone can still be happy I guess. It'll hopefully be a half-decent movie either way.
