i did an entire branch about the actual alien, not the queen

basically, an alien will bring its queens eggs out to hosts to make more aliens, and if there is no queen to lay the eggs the alien will mutate a host into an egg

my take is that everything in prometheus looks more metal and less organic than in Alien ... urns-egg ...space jockey chair ... ship ... corridors,,,so i dont know if its only a stylsh choice or is part of the plot

Simply using all the artwork and modeling which had been done previously for the "Alien" derelict/sets ( there are piles of it in the [i]public[/i] record ) would have been just as easy, if not easier, than making changes to the designs. Such changes wouldn't make sense, if the ship in this movie was intended to represent the same one we saw in "Alien."

similar for sure, but not the same (to me) the only real difference i can see on the latest ship, are those sharp thorn-looking protrusions on the sides and top of this latest vessel other than that, i'd say they are pretty close in comparison

I think the derelict from Alien is the same ship except its been weathered and has been sitting there for a long time with the changes in temp and the hostile environment, maybe the alien that burst out of the Sj has changed it to a small degree making it all moist and bloated

I think they are the same ship just a fresher look or what they consider an up to date look

They look sort of the same, other than the new one is heavy metallic, less organic (as Frantz said) and has a longer...telescopic dong? I Look at it this way now, anyone talking about a movie this much and about such details so passionately, 6 months before it comes out knows deep down it's going to be special.

I'm not so sure that this is the Space Jockey. As Hybrid clearly points out, the humanoid in the OP's enhanced picture has 4 fingers. If you go back and watch Alien, in the Space Jockey scene, there are clearly 5 fingers. So, it could be one of two things: This humanoid is not the Space Jockey, or this is a small detail that was left out in Prometheus. For reference, if you pause this link at :51, you can clearly see the Space Jockey has 5 fingers (assuming the thumb is out of sight on the other side of the "arm rest"). http://www.youtube.com/​watch?v=wMPXIcB1huM Thoughts?

I concur db73 I was thinking in terms of symbolism, than following the cheap comic book action movie. AVP was absolutely horrible btw... More Prometheus please...

Invaderzim42, I am 13 years old and I am expressly offended by what you said. I am not stupid/ignorant and I know how to appreciate a movie. And the fact that they think the movie will suck doesn't mean they are 10-13 years old. It's just a damn opinion. Personally, I don't agree, I think the movie will be good, but there are certain things in the trailer and teasers that disappointed me. Just opinions...

"54" I am sure you can understand why people say stuff like that. You were born 20 Years after Alien first played in Theaters. I was born approximately 20 years before it was released. If you are 13 that means you weren't born when Resurrection came out either meaning you never saw all 4 of the original films in the theater !!! People make the terrible mistake time and time again of equating Age with Wisdom and it is Not Fair and it Sucks but that's life. It makes no sense to me, because i have seen 13 year olds with ten times the intelligence of 50 years olds like me. What does make a difference though, is sticking to your guns and presenting your point of view the way you just did. Respectably. KUDOS to you sir. "54" that post you made is fantastic. You defended your position very articulately and like a person much wiser than someone with some stupid number assigned as their age. After all, it is just a number. I do not give a rat's ass how old someone is, to me it's how they handle themselves that matters most. But not everyone thinks like I do and it would be foolish of me to expect anyone else to. We are all unique in our own ways and anyone that tells you you do not matter because of their age is wrong and you have my "go ahead", not that you need it at all, to ignore them all together. However, at the same time, The people who are older like myself, in general I think, are acutely tuned into things like how hard it is to make a really good movie in today's day and age and like everyone wishes they made themselves, like this one is. It's easier for us to be critical of younger opinions and attitudes because we equate age with things like VALUE as well. We tell our young..."respect your elders"...because we feel being older makes a person more deserving which is not necessarily true either, but you see my point I am sure. He must have read many comments at YouTube and just reflected how they read, as if they seemed to be written by younger people. Sic Sparky Sic. Good Boy. You know I wuv's you. LOL. I think I'm the biggest kid on the site and I'm an old man :P on serious note I agree with you. There are alot of detractors and haters. So be it it goes with life. You're biggest haters are your biggest fans and never forget that. I keep telling my kids that.
