I never said the Queen should not exist, the Queen could work in this scenario, All I'm saying is that the thousands of eggs on board the derelict were most likely gathered from a planet the Jockeys had previously cleaned.

I'm also of the opinion that the "derelict" was bound for Earth. But with respect guys, I doubt Ridley gives a damn about what the comics say - or the sequels for that matter. I'm pretty confident he is of the opinion that he answers to no one with regards to creative licence. After all, it [i]is[/i] his baby. With that in mind, I'm certain he will deviate from the canonical xenomorph lifecycle that includes the queen xenomorph, in favour of the originally drafted lifecycle. This of course, creates a schism in the universe, which will only serve to fragment the entire franchise further.

@AnubisChe: I like your point of DNA of the space jockey. What if the room with the capsules and the gigantic face is like some kind of Noah's Ark (I don't know if I have written this well. Again, sorry about my english) with all DNA the engineers have discovered in his travels? What would happen when humans get their hands on them? Mmm... I can't wait until this movie is released!!!

I was just thinking about the snake creature shooting out of something in the original leaked trailer.......... from the design of the creature with the spring tail could the ampules be a safe way of storing the face hugger? The engineers harvest the eggs from somewhere using the derelict and then under controlled conditions transfer the face hugger into the ampules for safety?

yeah i am not gonna jump to any conclusions....tho it is very likely that what we see is in fact the space jockey...it could also be....anything?....maybe a crew member or android that mutated?

By the way, I thought about this all night also, and Snoklebottom suggested to me this morning that it is perhaps not and I think that makes far better sense given the size, but I remember someone saying realy early come to think of it now that it could not be because the scale was all off. If you look at the whole shot, you can see that one of what looks like "coffins" or I suppose some sort of suspended animation chamber is open. It appears there are four in total (one maybe behind the "gun" chair). So I suppose also the huge humanoid "space jockey" must have come out of there? Also, I am not sure, but do you notice that the "coffins" look sort of Egyptian?

I believe the big head represents the big humanoid rather than humans...... perhaps in a way representing that the bioform will transform other creatures / humans into the big humanoid if they touch the bioformer inside of the ampules????

I reckon the large humanoid head represents what is in the ampules. If you think of a laboratory or science lab. Each room or lab has a title or symbol on or next to the door so when you enter it you know what to expect to be in it or what the room/lab is used for. Here we have a large room/lab/store with lots of ampules and human head. So I'm betting the head represents the type of life form which the contents of the ampule can produce. The real question/s is are there any other rooms and what is in them? Is there a large Alien head in another room?

[i]Halo[/i] and its contemporaries did not invent the concepts illustrated in the trailer - and nor did [i]Alien[/i] for that matter. Their remarks are merely an attempt to demonstrate their capability to identify congruent things - nothing more - and should be taken as just that: ignorant remarks. IMO, their familiarity with similar concepts gives them a good grounding to immerse themselves in this other thing, and thereby perhaps extend their appreciation of the genre and the rest of of the [i]Alien[/i] cannon. For the diehard fanboys like us, who cares what Joe Public thinks. We just want our desires to be fulfilled - even if the film is a commercial disaster.

NineteenHundred, tell them to read this site if they think the movie is going to be bad.. lol. and Invaderzim42.. well what can you say.. the 14 year old have it made with all of the special effects of today. You look at movies like Dune, or even go back further to the original "The Thing from Another World" or "The Day the Earth Stood Still" from the 50s, they have nothing to compare to todays movie making techinques. But the great sci-fis are about ideas, which makes them timeless.

think of it this way, when ALIEN was released in 1979, it got far more negative reviews than it did positive ones ALIEN seemed to get better with age, i wouldn't surprise me if some of the um " film critics " look back on ALIEN, and how they trashed it, and realized (too late) that they misjudged this great film as far are the haters on Youtube, let them hate all they like. if it irritates them, then so be it i'd rather see PROMETHEUS in a theater full of adults, then view it with a theater full of A.D.D. texting "Twi-hards" who would be better suited to see a stupid Michael Bay production i'm hoping that Scott goes against the grain here, makes a film that is pensive as it is thrilling / horrific, which would bore the tears out of most (not all) the "tweens" while keeping an older audience on the edges of our seats which is why an NC-17 would be the PERFECT rating, in regards to securing the perfect target audience, not gonna happen that way, but at least i can dream

[i]Terminator Salvation[/i] should be a lesson for all studios not to try and sell dark science-fiction under a 12A or PG13 rating. It suppresses the tone and underlying story to its own detriment. The irony is that every 12 year-old would have somehow watched the R-rated version anyway! OK maybe not at the theatre but certainly on DVD at their friend's house or with big brother. I read somewhere (probably on this site) there will be a PG13 and an R version. Coming from the UK, I can't exactly quantify the gulf between those two ratings but I'm pretty sure the same film would have completely different complexions, hence you'd leave the viewing with completely different experiences. Look forward to learning more about how the dual rated versions will work in practice with respect to distribution and showing - perhaps the R version will be reserved for the DVD offering.

I'll reserve judgement of the film until i've seen it. As far as I'm concerned there are no guarantees at all that this film will be anywhere near as good as good as Alien. But with Scott at the helm you expect it to have half a chance of working very well. It's got a lot to live up to and people are clearly expecting a lot from this film. I hope they don't try to hard on this and try to be too clever for their own good. I'm quite concerned about lindelof as Lost turned out to be complete tripe in the end. I fear an over complicated and contrived plot line with the story trying to be too clever.

i don't see most of the comments being negative actually.....the majority are looking forward....just a few idiots who have no clue what the plot is about....I think Prometheus is gonna be very critically acclaimed....i don't think it's gonna break any records at the box office....but it won't flop either....but I do also slightly fear a contrived over complicated plot....well' see?....it will take a lot to ruin this movie for me!

All those "hate" commentaries about Prometheus and STUPID comparisons to Halo, Avatar (what?) make me really worry about the rating of movie. I mean, if it's PG-13, we all will have to sit near those little idiots with their popcorns and complaining about how bad this is going to be. It's a torture.

Think positively about this. All this negative stuff might convince FOX to concentrate on a higher viewer rating (say 18s) which is what Scott would like therefore giving it a much more Alien type feel to it and allow Scott allow his imagination to flow onto the screen

Nah, I don't think that 18 rating would be good. 16 is fine. I'm 16myself & I love Alien and such stuff since my childhood and I'd like to see it on cinema.

It really doesn't matter to me all bad opinions. The only certain is that this movie (even if it wasn't an ALIEN prequel) has catched me up, because it is the return of Ridley Scott to Science Fiction. If you have seen the documentary in Alien Quadrilogy, he says that he would come back to direct a Science Fiction movie when he found a good story, and that's my point. And even if this movie doesn't become a blockbuster is not a bad thing. If you think, Blade Runner wasn't too popular in its cinema release, but it became a cult movie in short time!
