Biomechanic, Thank you for all your copying and pasting…nothing like a little “free press.” I think it’s pretty obvious that I’ve stepped on a personal nerve here, and I would apologize for that, except you’ll probably just reject it any way. I wish you luck in your vexation. ~N

Intresting post, frankly i'm delighted the ripley character is not in Prometheus . I think they pushed it with the 3rd and fourth to such ridiculous levels that the franchise was ruined for me after the second film. The whole gnosis of the alien film never for me centred on the ripley character although of course she was the original films eventual heroine and this was capitalised to a grander point in the second, but for me the star of the film was always giger's alien and the sense of a genuine alien atmosphere and surreal forboding uncertainty the film so well portrayed. I guess its hard for those not around in 1979 to fully appreciate just how ground breaking and totally new that kind of film making was in those days, although its well documented on those points.. still it was hard to put into words just how it felt seeing it at that time and the witnessing the response to the films impact. I always felt that the film had so much scope for some remarkable sequels and that the very nature of the films set and setting was open to the imagination to really go to town with whatever direction you cared to take it in . By the time we got to the thIrd film the whole thing had become so Convoluted and predictable it lost all of its mystic and for me it was like watching a film about a space lizard on the rampage. I look at Giger's original artwork and their lies the answer why was'nt that world more exploited and replicated into the stories even the alien became like an extra from Spielbergs Jurassic park . I wanted the insect ultra intelligent demonesque creature with those giant black eyes and mushroom coloured skin that communicates its intentions like a sociopathic octopus that can assimilate its environment by Camouflage. The Necronomicon painting fires the imagination of what could have been.

MISER42 No offense but I disagree completely with almost every single thing you said and you sound like you gathered bits and pieces of a story you don't know very well and decided to present them as if they were already truths. 1st of all, I and everyone else here..., "MUST" nothing. 2nd of all they never said they wanted to stay away from anything, what they said was that they were not going to make this all about linking to the Beginning of the Alien Story & Franchise, but rather... expanding and enhancing that story itself... with references a kin to "Alien DNA". 3rd off all what we know for a fact, is THIS and THIS ONLY...l The film centers on the SPACE JOCKEY {a creature ripped apart by a Xenomorph by the way} and takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race. 4th of all, IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE...LOL... it sounds very much to me like this thing is going to end with a massive battle between men and women and Xenomorphs. and the Xenomorphs obviously WIN based on what we know form the other 4 films. 5th and maybe most important is this...they DO... AND THEY NEED TO WANT TO ...PROMOTE THE "ALIEN ANGLE", AND THE LESS THIS FILM CONNECTS TO THE OTHER 4 THE LESS HAPPY IT'S VIEWERS ARE GOING TO BE AND SCOTT KNOWS THIS BY NOW 100%. The less the ALIEN idea is promoted in some new way in this film, the less success it will have...period. The Xenomorph, always was and always will be at the CORE of these films and I cannot for the life of me understand how anyone would even want Scott to drop that basic piece of the total success out of all of this. What they are doing I believe is just about the opposite of what everyone thinks...they're not taking the Aliens out of Alien, they're Expanding they're role and explaining it to us. The Space Jockey was/is an ALIEN creature, {probably the exact "Growers" that Spaiths created in his original submission} They've already mentioned a terrifying confrontation between Humans and Aliens to save the Human Race will take place in the film. Ridley Scott has always believed that LESS is MORE, so his scares will be done the exact same way in this one that they were done in the first one...he probably will not use the Facehugger or chestburster to do that and so what?...those were just part of the same creatures' life cycle...but what he is probably going to do is tease the viewer by starting out showing us a little and moving slowly towards showing us a lot. This is what he does...and what he shows us is going to be related to the Space Jockey which obviously is the source of the eggs on LV-426...and that's where I think people got lost, The Eggs weren't there on LV-426 to begin with, what happened was the Space Jockey brought them there...and it's key to this ENTIRE FILM SCOTT MAKES NOW. The best thing Scott can do to ensure the success of this film, is to make sure their are as many connections between the other 4 films and this one as is humanly possible. But I think you and everyone else are getting carried away here because it's an ALIEN Franchise film no matter how you slice this and... ...you cannot have one of these without Aliens eating humans...it just don't and wouldn't work that way. The Xenomorph and Gigers' art DEMAND IT.

everyone want to pull prometheus to the side he like more : an horror movie , a erotickinky movie , an action movie , an avp movie , a geeks movie etc etc ... we will see We have some solid points but who knows how it will be the finished product ... btw ""4th of all, IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE...LOL... it sounds very much to me like this thing is going to end with a massive battle between men and women and Xenomorphs. and the Xenomorphs obviously WIN based on what we know form the other 4 films."" well we can presume that the space jockeys race is wiped away ...and the xenomorphes got beaten in every movie :D So im not so sure about the xenomorph win here ..btw its possible that all the crew sacrifice themselves cos obviousely that will fit better with the Alien story

Im very excited about this movie. Not every sequels are good, but its a few years between alien 4 and this one. I really have faith in Ridley Scott when it comes to this one :) Theres a lot of good pin pointers that miser42 and spartacus mentionod, but are they really cutting the facehugger and chestbusters out of this film? Not that they are my favorite parts of the movies, but they stil are a big deal when it comes to the growing cycle of the xenomorphs. So cutting them out just to avoid it completely, makes it feel like some pieces might be lost?...

Miser42... I read EVERY word, Have much more to say but after that response of yours it is 100% obvious you took Offense to what I was trying to explain to you so I'll just bow down to your superior intelligence... LMFAO !!! seriously man !!! THIS IS WORD FOR WORD EXACTLY WHAT RIDLEY SCOTT HAS SAID...AND NOTHING ELSE... Scott acknowledged that Prometheus, while not be a direct prequel to Alien... "It occupies the same general universe", saying the picture was... "inspired by a desire to explore the mystery of the “space jockey” the giant fossilized creature with the burst-open chest seen in the first Alien movie but never explained.”. seriously !!! Intelligence...?... just LMFAO !!!

The Gladiator was R ... and was a worldwide success ... Alien is R ...and is a worldwide success and a movie history masterpiece Bladerunner is R ..and is a worldwide success and a movie history masterpiece so i dont think Scott will be ashamed to go for an R but still expect CLASS and no gore and violence more of what is needed for the purpose of the movie .

Hi, Something that I feel there´s need to scrutinize is: Seeing that the number of subscribers to this Prometheus-forum is increasing for the last couple of weeks; so how can it be that it´s always the same guys chatting w. each other and none of the new members says anything? Just a general remarks. P.S.: 10/19/2011; 2am I see, by now there are lots of others participating or introducing themselves in the introduce-yourself-section. That´s cool;furtheron I hope ther´s still somebody coming up to post his & her artworks to this forum . Then, I´ll do , too.

Prometheus ForumCould A Prometheus Sequel Incorporate a Bladerunner Sequel?
Enough with the hate for Alien: Resurrection already. Asking for forgiveness for referring to it is silly and just shows how unable people are to have a free thinking opinion about a movie sometimes. Wake up call, all 4 films have their flaws and their questionable motives, but It gets tiresome to hear all of the negativity towards the 4th film when it introduced a lot of interesting concepts and ideas. It was a stab at making a unique and interesting take on the universe and therefore had balls bigger than anybody beforehand (outside of Scott of course). I am in no way saying it is great but the opinions offered as asides and jeers get annoying. Sorry. Just speaking my mind :-)

I'm sorry but who asked for Political discussion here to begin with? This is a forum about Alien and things associated with those films. If I wanted to hear toilet talk, boo hooing and whining about how Young White Males are being disrespected in the U.S, I'll go to a KKK Rally or maybe a GOP Convention.

For prometheus that can happen in a different way ... Scott is not obsessed with gadgets , audience , toys etc etc so is not that the risk ...however we can be disappointed by alot of things ( script , characters , tone ) and that will damage a bit the Alien experience .

I really think Sir Ridley may have been mindful about the hardcore fans of the original and he may come up with something totally ambiguous which could well tie in with the original (if we see the 'signs' and we want it to) while having it so tenuous as to simultaneously leave it untainted. I cannot see him being disrespectful to the fans and the mystique of his own 'baby'. Fear not Blazer1411, it'll be alright on the night.

Let's remember too, that Scott used very little CGI and build all his sets full size unlike some directors who would just use a green screen...I think Scott has went back to his roots and old fashioned film making...depsite the 3D but I think will make very good use of the 3D and the huge sets as we saw....we will not be disappointed...

The question i ask myself is .... Alien in your countries is a PG 13 or an R ? If its PG-13 we can be assured that a masterpiece can be done with a PG 13 on it :)

I agree, but seriously what it really really means is that any offensive language or scenes containing blood and gore will be edited out, which 100% sucks the life out any plausibility or credibility this film will have at all in light of the other 4. The situation calls for a complete FREE PASS and if Scott wants to release a film so violent and Bloody it makes people run out of the theater screaming, it should be Rated X, as ROBOCOP was originally before the studios made Verhooven cut it, and this is a Fact...58 frikkin' times, before they allowed it to run as a"R" rated film. Scott should be given the Green Light to put as much Language. blood. gore, sex etc etc etc in this thing and have it go out as an "R" rated film. Now, the studios do not care about what is right, they have ONE AGENDA only, which is maximize the profits and the way they typically do this is watering down films below the "R" level. This is a case, where should they do that, and should the cuts involved by detailed in any way, you can call this film a failure right now. You cannot water down a Ridley Scott film of this importance, you just cannot, it goes far beyond the money as well, it goes, as I was saying to the very credibility of the entire franchise. IF they make the cuts and anybody who is a long time XENOMORPH RESPECTING fan goes and is disapointed because of it, word is going to spread like a disease and faster than a Rabbit gets You Know What F. Murray Abraham said in Scarface. And this entire project will die a slow and very painful death. Once again, If I am Scott, I will not compromise my integrity for even one IOTA for "The Suits" As far as I am considered Scott trumps every one of them, and if they don't like it..TOO BAD for the studios, he could release this film using his own money and tell them a la "Ripley" @ the end of "ALIENS" to... "Get Away From Me You Biaatches"...lol. Just my opinion, but as you can see I am emphatic about it. I want as much blood and gore and language and raw truth and of what Ridley "Truly intended" to be left in this film when we see it as possible!!! I don't want to wait a year for some collectors Quintology that trys to tell me... "Here is the "Prometheus" version Scott Truly intended for me to see to begin with"

the problem is that they gave R ratings to family movies like The gladiator ( scott was there ) Terminator II ( come on ... ) 300 ( please ... ) Pretty Woman ( lol ) Rain man ( muahahaha ) The matrix reloaded ( maybe because was so lame ) its true that teenagers are the fundaments of every big success like titanic , avatar , inception etc etc but i dont think prometheus should fall in this category ..and if the Gladiator was already a success with an R rating why not prometheus then ?

It has to be an 'r' rated movie , even if they met halfway and agreed on a 15 rating that would not be so bad , fook it if they make it pg 13 then the space jockeys will most likely be the teletubbiers, jesus.....why go from 'r' rated to pg 13, such a big gap between the two!!!!!! idiots money grabbing parasites

The unfortunate reality of the situation is that we'll probably see a PG-13 release. PG-13 = available for viewing by a larger demographic of people = more money. I hate to say it but I think that'll be the case. And we'll end up with a semi-skimmed sci-fi horror.

Biomechanic, I love your new "quick little painting"...and the image you used in the Background is most "Gigeresque", think you may have even constructively bent/re-shaped one of his. Excellent stuff man!!! I LOVE that one. Like I was saying it looks as if it was made by Giger himself, or someone he taught to paint. ...and...lol...just my imagination getting fired up by it all here but, the figure in the front looks like she/he's is dressed as a member of the Ugandan Bob Sled or some other Water board Team and is skiing as fast as she/he can away from certain death!!! For me that right there is just undeniabley fantastic work man.
