Quite honestly, I very much doubt it. The part about finding an alien artifact on earth is likely, but the rest remains to be seen. There's a lot of wild speculation on here about what people are interpreting based on interviews and wishful thinking. I, for one, do not think that there will be xenomorphs in the film (at least, the way we know them). That includes chestbursters, facehuggers, and all that. Based on supposedly true leaked photos, we'll probably see eggs, if anything. I get the feeling that if it was a traditional alien movie, we would know because the movie studios would use that franchise as a way of selling tickets (which is why studios make movies). Your average Joe doesn't know what Prometheus is; they haven't been researching and reading interviews. Even if your average idiot Joe is an Alien fan, if he doesn't know, why would he see the movie? But for those paying attention (that would be us), it's the opposite. Mention ambiguous ties to Alien and you get people speculating 'til they're blue in the face. I think this is why Ridley Scott, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, and anyone else involved with the movie have been really vague when asked if this is an Alien movie. The usual answer is "that's the springboard for this original story". That's usually salesman talk for glossing over a con by highlighting a pro. That logically implies a trade-off: "there's no cup holders in this car, but the stereo is awesome" If they flat out said, "There are no aliens in the movie", how many people would see it? They're playing off the mystery about what this movie is. For the record, I would rather not see xenomorphs in Prometheus and I think Ridley Scott wouldn't either. Follow this link --> It's all we are certain of for this movie.

eheheh yes you maybe are not far off . another guy made a plot like this adding a second ship ( the magellan that we know exist ) , so the first ship get "infected " or something like that ... My dream plot is -the crew arrive , thinking to find the Gods -they find an almost dead civilization , now relegated to chairs , fused almost with their machinery ( biomechanical creatures ) -that civilization is evil , they played so much with dna that they destroyed themselves -that civilization created the ultimate weapon : the aliens we know -they start to play with the crew too -the humans crew die fighting but the one or two Androids ( because they cant be infected ) fight back for humanity ( Fassbender and Pearce or Foster ) -they manage to wipe out the aliens and they chase one last ship sent to earth and manage to shoot it down ( killing themselves in the process , of course the alien ship crash on the lv426 )

Do you think it will be android that takes it or Charlize's Character that tries and sneaks it back, being that she is the company rep? And there are two droids in this one which throws a monkey wrench into who might be who....

Now this film takes place 30 years prior to the events of "Alien"? Now, the derelict ship on the the planet has been there longer than 30 years, because of what Dallas says about the Space Jockey being fossilized to the chair. Meaning that these things, eggs have been there prior to the events or "Prometheus". So is it possible that these eggs were a bad experiment gone awry and they were getting rid of the eggs but crashed due to a mishap on board. Of course, I would imagine that in "Prometheus" there will be some ties to "Alien"....

..also Ash knew that, the company knew of the creature which would mean they have previous knowledge of the species prior but when? I would guess with the events of "Prometheus" but that question of how long that ship has been there bothers me, I mean puzzles me if they can play this into the film somehow...

Possible, except I don't think there are any xenomorphs in the movie, at least, not the way that we know them. No facehuggers, no chestbursters, maybe eggs (based on those supposed set photos), and probably no adult xenos. I personally don't want there to be any xenomorphs in the movie and I don't think Ridley Scott wants them in there either. I can go in more detail if interested...

I agree, I want to see Scott's original concept. I am thinking that the crashed ship in Alien has been there shorter than we think. Perhaps due to the elements of the planet and the ship might have sped up the way the Jockey was glued to his seat.

Ok how's this for a plot twist. The Xeno's are a second stage terraforming experiment involving humans done hundreds of thousands of years ago, with humans being a stage one. Since the movie is partly based on Chariots of the Gods. Von Danniken thinks we have been around for atleast 300,000 years. So the SJ's engineer humans first, we live longer, we're arrogant, care for no one but ourselves and live like a virus (yeah a lil'bit of the Matrix), this is bread into us genetically. Who better to terraform a craphole rock (by SJ Standards) that has Oxygen, and Nitrogen by adding Methane, Carbon Dioxide, and hydrocarbons to the atmosphere and then later stage two, drop the Xeno's (with their short lived life cycle) on them to clean up the mess and you got a ready made smaller planet essentially ready to move onto. Could also be the Xeno's were a failed experiment with their complicated life cycle that lead to a more terrify and deadly creature that the Xeno's pale to in comparison. This is the rumor floating about that Scott is making something scarrier than the Xeno's, its related but unrelated. It makes sense if the SJ's are as ancient as we think they are I am sure they have ALOT of scarier stuff in their toolbox than a Xeno that we can't even begin to imagine.

Those are plot points that would only make sense to uber-geek-fan audience members. The characters aren't going to care because they haven't seen the first movie. It's not a plot twist if it has no consequence on the characters. I think the best course of action is to forget about the Alien franchise. Just forget about it. Forget xenos, forget Hadley's Hope, forget all that crap. Ridley Scott has said that he's making a "creepy" and "perverse" (his words) sci-fi horror movie and xenomorphs are no longer scary. We really should stop trying to shoe-horn the aliens in there.

I just care about "Alien", I know that he or Lindof said that this film would answer some questions about "Alien". Mainly about the space jockey and the ship, I am hoping to under the creatures more and the behind scenes story of the company.

What if they are not impressed and know about humans showing up on their door step before hand! Perhaps there is a sinister mind behind their meeting. If xeno's are the beast the Space Jockey could be the demon behind the beast if it is not already a pawn of the devil, cause their can only be one devil.

I like Rick's plot. Its got a bit of social commentary to it. We (humans) are the primary terraforming tool of the space jockey civilization. Once we develop the ability to decipher the directions to reach out to this ancient civilization it is likely we have altered earth's environment, as programmed, to fit the preferences of these engineers (global warming, CO2 emmisions, etc..). From their perspective, our work is then finished. The Xenomorphs are stage 2. they are our "off switch". Once contact is made, the Jockys will contaminate our race with xenomorphs which will efficiently exterminate human existence. The xenomorphs then cause their own extinction as they have been engineered to consume and reproduce until all food sources are vanished. The terraforming project is then complete and the Engineers (Jockeys) do what they wish with earth. My guess is that things don't go to plan for the Space Jocks. That the title of the movie is a conceptual metaphor for the space Jocks. That these engineers have stolen the ability to create the human species from an even more ancient race that may in fact be be god. The "more terrifying creatures" in this movie are meant to punish the Jocks and humans will play some sort of role enabling this, possibly being transformed by the green goo in a way not intended by the jocks

Interesting different take on the idea Drexlspivey. I really like your idea. That the Space Jockey is just as much of a prey as we, humans are to whatever lies in the darkness. The theories coming out of this thread are great! I wonder who will end up being the closest when the film is finally released!

@Neurion, My Gods space being so vast I only now got the invitation to the party! Absinthe....wow you do play hardcore. Makes me very conversational in the most memorable ways. As for your in depth description of your reaction to the various Alien films, to sum Alien 3 up succinctly, I put my popcorn away after the opening credits. I just lost my appetite after watching Newt and Hicks demise. The autopsy was the final straw, that left me cold, and uncaring. The tea stained appearance of the film put the entire visual experience into a squinting and looking into corners perspective. Like you, nothing equalled the novelty of the first film. It didn't sacrifice anything in order to generate those chills, and I wasn't tabulating a running body count. Well, enough said about spilt milk, or was that android bionanetic suspension? Let's just hope that Prometheus is more than any of us could have hoped for shall we..

Various past-time movies (xept alien) with H.R. Giger co-operating were: Design; conceptual art for `Dune´ 1984: Harkonnen Chairs, a.s.o. Species I, II and III (1995; 1998) Killer Condom of 1996 was, by far, his worst, since he has lowered to trash genre. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqxEdzPakOI P.S.: Somehow unsimilar to a George Lukas w. this guy, huh? Besides all debate: I´ve seen the prequel, which is on youtube for months in our local cinema, too. To me, that clealrly indicates that `Prometheus´ advertises itsself, I don´t know. btw. I share the opinion, that V. Ward´s concept was best, ever. So, as it turns out the review of the Prometheus trailer we posted yesterday was in fact a review of the OFFICIAL Prometheus trailer by Fox. We've had to since remove the original post due to Fox's requests. But for those who got to read it, it certainly looks promising and only increases the chances for a trailer to appear this month. Looks like it will be happening after all. A special thanks to Chris who exclusively brought the find to Prometheus-Movie.com. We greatly appreciate the efforts made but at the same time, we hope he does not get into trouble.

Quote @bad_juju_820 theatre perks ;'> Quote noeon5678 Difficult. The trailer had cuts of fades from scene to scene. It didn't say anything about being a prequel either Quote @noeon5678 there were no Giger aliens in at all. If you were quick, you could see the space jockey from the wrecked ship. Quote @noeon5678 however, looked like a cleaner version of that future but had that Ridley Scott feel written all over it. The trailer exists, people have seen it. The general consensus is that it may well come out with "The Thing" remake on the 17th Oct. Here's hoping !!!!!!

All I can really offer at the moment is speculation, but, that does seem to be all we do anyway ( Haha)! The first thing that I thought was if the Space Jockeys were in fact the owners of the "Grey Matter" and use it to develop new forms of life like the Zenomorph or maybe even at one time, ourselves? That would explain Ridleys hints about the film asking us questions about where we come from.

The Alien life form have little in common with humans ( except the shape ) but its more like an animal or an insect . Its surely not a crossbreed between two very intelligent life forms . that said i think that the canisters , eggs , grey/green matter have a pivotal place in the plot ( thats what the footage suggest , however it can be misleading and part of ridley "smoke in your face" campaign ). I dont think there will be something like a crew mutation since it was a bit abused in the movies lately ( district 9 ) .

Frantz, I have to disagree. Giger incorporated a human skull into the skull of the Xeno. Not to mention bipedal locomotion (amongst mammals) with natural symmetry is something that is rare in nature. Plus opposing thumbs even though it had 5 fingers. Knee joint, elbows, wrists, neck, ankles, shoulders, and waist can not all be simply coincidence. What if the the grey matter is nanite suspension. I mean Giger likes to combine biological with mechanical, so keeping with Gigers theme Nano technology would be key to altering DNA, and Alien DNA is supposed to be key to the movie. That is the only way I see it being possible to convert humans. Regards, Rick See Below ( http://www.ask.com/wiki/DNA) DNA nanotechnology uses the unique molecular recognition properties of DNA and other nucleic acids to create self-assembling branched DNA complexes with useful properties.[133] DNA is thus used as a structural material rather than as a carrier of biological information. This has led to the creation of two-dimensional periodic lattices (both tile-based as well as using the "DNA origami" method) as well as three-dimensional structures in the shapes of polyhedra.[134] Nanomechanical devices and algorithmic self-assembly have also been demonstrated,[135] and these DNA structures have been used to template the arrangement of other molecules such as gold nanoparticles and streptavidin proteins.[136]

Rick I'm waiting to see if that skull has any significance! It should be interesting. I really hope the grey matter is used as a sort of Genetic mutagen, I think that aspect would really add an origina edge to the plot.

In Spaiths version of the script, The Growers were something I thought of as I read it as the Space Jockey's themselves. They were the ones that sent the Space Jockey to LV-426 to begin with IMO. That said, it is entirely plausible that the Growers have been using the canisters, to harvest the creatures to assist with Controlled Terra Forming. This was the impression I got from that script to begin with. Juts an observation, I may be entirely wrong but it sure looks like I'm not from what all of you said.
