I was going to Mention that ;) as that YES this could work, so the Xenomorph will Loose the Clear/Dome Carapace....   that is WHAT he used as a Excuse, as they had TROUBLE with their Xenomorphs as they was Intended to be the Same but the Clear Part just kept Breaking/Falling Off etc and was to Fragile for the Action Scenes so they GOT RID of them.

so they could have it that the Xenomorph Life Cycle after Days  they would Develop to look more like in ALIENS, and they could also have some EVOLVE into other Xenomorphs.........  The Comics and Games to a Extent have done this, but we have NOT seen it in the Movies but this DOES-NOT mean its Not Possible and CANT be Explored in the Future.

Indeed  the Xenomorph are DOOMED their Reliance on a HOST makes them Flawed its their Downfall....

If they get to a World with Plenty of Hosts like Earth they may be fine... on a World that is VOID of Life apart from a Colony/Outpost then Once those Hosts are Turned into Xenomorphs it becomes a Question of HOW-LONG can they Live?

If the Xenomorph is MERELY a Engineered Weapon be it by David or the Engineers, then this Reliance on a Host does make it more Viable as a Weapon, as you could WIPE OUT the Inhabitants with the Xenomorph and then they DIE and well you can go and Collect any Eggs that remain.

If you was going to RUN with the idea that JC has which is the Xenomorph its its OWN like Hive-Mentality Species that the Space Jockey merely came across.. Then you are LIMITED.... Unless you Uplift the Xenomorph to being more Intelligent in that they would NOT go and USE all the Hosts... they would ALLOW some to Survive to Repopulate or even Capture and Breed the Hosts.

IF they had gone for what JC would have done for ALIEN 3 then the Home-world must have enough Resources/Hosts to allow them to Continue to Populate, otherwise your left with the QUESTION of HOW-LONG does a Xenomorph Live for?

I know RS had Envisioned the Xenomorph as having a SHORT LIFE SPAN.. but RS like Vision even back in the 80's was the Xenomorph was a Engineered Weapon.  However he also wanted to have it become more INTELLIGENT.

Well James Cameron implied the ridged head warriors are the next stage to the xenomorph lifecycle after the smooth head drone-stage

I was looking at how the Runner and Drone have the same kind of Head Carapace as the Xenomorph in Alien Covenant compared to that of ALIENS.  And so was Suggesting maybe thats because they came from Different Cargo Holds (the Runner/Drone are different most likely due to the HOST).

I think withe Queen and her Creation i am NOT that sure as to HOW this came about, i am sure some Comics have Answered this but i have NOT read all the Comics (Far from it).

Kane was infected with a Drone.... we NEVER got to see HOW it Procreated apart from the DC Version which added the Egg Morph.

With Hadleys Hope then Russ Jorden became the First to be Infected but we do-not know as to HOW this Lead to the Outbreak/Infestation...  I can ONLY go and Assume maybe more People went to Investigate the Derelict and became Infected... or the Xenomorph that was Birthed from Russ would Escape with some Colonist and either TAKE them to the Derelict or would Perform Egg Morphs.

And at some Point a Queen would arise..... I know some Comics had Invented the Royal Jelly Concept which just Borrows from Certain Bees.  And with ALIEN 3 Deleted Scenes we saw a Dead Royal Face Hugger.  But i still think that IF the Egg Morph can make a Queen/Royal Face Hugger then it makes Sense.

But you could have it where they can Egg Morph other Varieties of Xenomorph too.

I kind of liked my idea a little better since I feel egg morphing can be used build a start up hive when a queen is absence.

Also I dislike the idea that the xenomorphs from Alien/Alien 3 are different from Aliens due to the fact the Alien 3 xenomorph/Runner was born from the Aliens variant and not from an Alien variant

The SIMPLE SOLUTION.... was kind of Indicated in Alien Engineers Draft.

The Derelict/Juggernaught has 8 Cargo Holds and EACH had a Variant of the Xenomorph, and so they could have USED this for the Differences between the Xenomorph in ALIENS and the Drone/Runner from ALIEN/ALIEN 3 as they could have came from TWO DIFFERENT places on the SHIP.

Another SOLUTION would be to have it that the EGG MORPH is what would Create a Egg Laying Queen.

I don't think Cyborgs should be treated like synthetics unless they are full body cyborgs like Dr. Eisenberg from AVP2 or Valerie from my fanfiction (who is partially based on Eisenberg)

Yeah to be FAIR something similar to THIS VIDEO GAME is WHAT the AVP Movie should have done..... SET in the TIME-LINE like between a 2150-2250.

I Actually think a REBOOT of the AVP Franchise (Theatrical) thats SET after ALIENS or like the Video Games, is the SAFEST OPTION for DISNEY to make Money from ALIEN/PREDATOR Franchises..... IF its done Right!

It does-not even have to Connect to ALIEN/ALIENS... it can be a Alternative Canon where Xenomorphs and Predators are Encountered, but their First Encounter/Origins does-not have to be as we saw with Predator or Alien etc.... but you have to have it SET in the Future in Space like say HOW ADVANCED we see Mankind are in say ALIENS.

But any Protest is MET with the Fact the Company can Dis-activate all the UPGRADES....  your Basically left with Arms/Legs you cant MOVE/USE, your Hearing and Sight goes..... 

They then Discover that as Cyborgs they Actually have as MUCH FREEDOM as a Synthetic Robot.... they DO as they are TOLD... or they become Imprisoned in a Shell that Can-not go and Move or See or Hear... a Nightmare... where they could SCREAM! but NO-ONE would Hear them as they get LOCKED AWAY in a POUND or something...

UNTIL they Submit to Serve and get Re-Activated.

But this Basically is Universal Solider meets Robocop... but you can be SURE that the Shady W-Y or/and USM have Conducted Similar in the Past/Future.

Again this is ANOTHER STORY/PLOT that you could TELL in a Anthology Series (One Season) which is WHAT i think the Franchise should do (become a Anthology Series a bit like American Horror Story).

I would RATHER had seen a ANTHOLOGY Series like say AMERICAN HORROR STORY.... now i dont mean they Re-Use the Cast...

Just you have a TV Series thats SET in a Time-Line it can have Flash Backs, and its SET about a Certain Aspect thats Connected to the Franchise.

The Next Season you CHANGE where it is SET and the TIME-LINE  bit and the PLOT, (it does NOT have to be about the same as the 1st Season) but you have some Elements of the Plot that Connect to each Series/Season like you have with AHS.

You see there are MANY ELEMENTS to the Franchise beside those Eggs, Queen etc etc.... and Ripley.  But its WHAT IF some Fans or a MASS are Expecting the Series to Revolve around the Xenomorph and then more so Each Season.

I think RS will be Proven Right... that IF we go the Route of Showing the Xenomorph over and over, then WHAT do you do when it gets STALE and i think it could well get STALE/OVERCOOKED.

By that i DONT want to see the Xenomorph/Franchise become something of a MESS/JOKE like the Terminator Franchise has become... and Predator is CLOSE after the AWFUL Last Outing!

RS wanted to Explore things like the Company, the Founder and Agenda, and to Touch on the Synthetics Origins etc... and the BIG ONE... to look at the Space Jockey and Expand the PLOT on WHO they are....

Bit like with AC i think some of the Marketing for Prometheus (the Weyland Industries Website) with its Details and Time-Line i think that SOME of this had been CHANGED to FIT with Alien Covenant and thats WHY the Prometheus Viral Website was taken DOWN.

If the TV Series would USE the Ted Talk 2023 with Peter Weyland as Canon, then THIS does take Place in the NOT TO DISTANT FUTURE.... If we look at AC the Prologue then Guy Pearce was 49 when he Shot that Scene.... going by the Prometheus Viral Site for Peter Weyland he was Born in 1990 and so the Alien Covenant Prologue could be SAY in the Year 2039 (he would have been about 33 in the Ted Talk but Guy Pearce was about 45 when he did that Scene).

We do-not know if the TV Series will TOUCH on the Weyland Company and Peter Weyland at all?  If the Activation of David (Prologue) was say around 2040... i do SUSPECT the TV Series will IN PART be SET in and around 2040-2050.....

The Biggest Issue for me is that a TV Series set say around 2050 some 70+ Years before ALIEN and will Introduce us to a Xenomorph and ON EARTH... this is Worrying for me.

I think you have to TRY and do something NEW with the Xenomorph because lets FACE IT...

In ALIEN he was just a Alien/Space Jason Voorhees (The DC made it have a Purpose).  In ALIENS what we had was Basically a Bi-Pedal Alien Insect like Hive Monster... like HOW a Bee, Ant, Wasp and Termites would Operate but more Deadly and Intelligent....  but NOT LIKELY to be Creating their Own Tech and Leaving LV-426.

I dont think the Prequels had Dis-credited it too much... it was something more FERAL and Aggressive, it NEVER QUITE showed the Level of Intelligence that we saw in Alien/Aliens.

It will be Interesting to see IF we have any Mention or Connection to the Engineers and IF this will be 100% Canon to the Prequels or IF they may Alter the Story/Plot a Little.

Regarding the Action and Special Effects... it seems to be Implied we will have a Slow Burner... before we then GET INTO some Serious Action and Effects.  The Slow Burner would ALLOW for some Character Development as you dont have to RUSH or be Forced into making Characters Work within the Constraints of 2 Hours.

BD: Oops, wrong thread. That was a reply to the thread Where to go next, or something similar. How much it will respect the prequels seems to me to depend on if there is anything to find in the prequels. If I would make the TV-series, that's how I would think, not sure how those on Disney will look at it.

The ancient threat seems interesting to me. Yeah the AI (androids) could be interesting but it depends on how you do the characters and if they will not be what the story is about.

I think that the should uplift the Xeno instead of reducing it like Ridley did. Not to say that the Xeno is what it should be about but he disrespected it in the prequels and focusing a lot on what wasn't interesting (androids) or giving it too much of a role is a better way of putting it. Say what you will about Aliens but to me there is no competition between the prequels and Aliens because it's simply better (except for maybe how it looks).

You mention what JC saw the Xeno as, maybe there is a way to combine the Ridley idea and what Cameron wanted? At least Cameron didn't consider it being a result of a dumb robot.

You mention it being action-centered. I don't mind slow paced movies to a point. There is no need to just have action scenes, there is a need for a mix but AC was too slow. My suggestion is to have it faster than AC, but slower than Aliens. Special effects is nice but that's far from what I would like to see in a TV-show or movies. Give me a good story and well-made characters and I'm fine.

Not too sure if it's a good idea to have it on earth but if there's a way to deal with it then maybe. To me alien means unknown, and that also includes unknown worlds. We'll see how it turns out but I'm a bit sceptical.

Maybe, it depends on how it's done. To be honest I'm not too much well-read about the differences between those kinds of things. I guess that I know fairly well what the difference is between a robot and an android though. Keep it about how humans react to it because it's about the human journey, but I'm not against having that in the alien-franchise.

Indeed such a Fantastic Video Game for its Time....

I think that Call is a Interesting Character... a Artificial Being that is Created by Synthetics, its HARD to say if Call is more Organic than the Synthetics.

When we look at Walter he seems to be more Organic than Bishop and Ash, who seem to be more like David.

Call does seem to be more Sentient/Free-Will than Bishop, Ash and Walter but with David i think he is 100% a Totally Sentient Being with FREE-WILL.

The Neomorphs came about from the Puff Balls (kind of Spore/Fungi) the LIKELY Origin of them is some of the BLACK GOO had leaked from a URN after the CRASH and had came into Contact with some Fungi/Spore or Mold and EVOLVED them to become a Hybrid Spore that Creates the Neomorphs.

We dont know HOW the Neomorph would Procreate what we do see is the Neomorph and Xenomorph in Alien Covenant seemed VERY DRIVEN by Instinct and were VERY Aggressive.

I am NOT sure we would have seen the Neomorph again it DEPENDED on WHERE we would see Ridley  Scott take us in the Sequels, the Xenomorph would have Appeared again... and i SUSPECT that Ridley Scott would have SHOWN us the Egg Morph Method of Procreation.

I think the WHITE SPIKE is more Deadly than the Xenomorph and Neomorph. To me the Xenomorphs method of Procreation is WHAT is the Horrific Part about it.  And i mean the Eggs/Contents rather than the QUEEN.... thats NOT to HATE on HER..... as SHE would KICK the White Spikes Ass for sure.

I don't think we have seen the full capability of the neomorph yet, they are still shrouded in mystery. Like how do they reproduce those tiny egg sacks? Are they pack hunters, do they have a hive structure like their xenomorph cousins?

I think this is a Interesting Topic....

In Context to the Franchise we have to REMEMBER we are talking about Science Fiction and SET in the Future, i think that Cybernetic Parts would be something we would SEE in REALITY we already have such NOW, but its NOT as Advanced as we have seen in SCI-FI but we would ONE-DAY reach that Level.

A LOT of Space Sci-Fi have Similar things and so Cybernetic Components to a Human would NOT be that ALIEN to the Franchise, as Technology Advances then YES surely we could have Cybernetic Enhanced Humans.

People who have LOST a LIMB or a EYE and have Cybernetic (Synthetic) Replacements would NOT be out of Place within the ALIEN  Franchise.

To get to the LEVEL that we have with Arnaud Eisenberg would be more complicated but its NOT BEYOND the Realms of Science when we look at Sci-Fi.

If we take ROBOCOP then the Original was a Cyborg... but in the Reboot they have MUCH MORE of their Body as Cybernetic/Synthetic (Artificial) all that was Organic in the Reboot was the BRAIN, HEART, LUNGS and Parts of the Nervous System... with Arnaud Eisenberg he was just a Organic Brain in a Completely Synthetic Body.  Should this be something we should-not or could-not see in the ALIEN Franchise?

Terminators are well just SKINJOBS  i would not say they were that much of a Cyborg.

The Interesting thing with a CYBORG that has ONLY the Brain as Organic is HOW does this Interface with the Synthetic Components, you would have to have some kind of IC/Computer/Software as a Bridge.... and so WHAT is Interesting and HORRIFIC... is IF that Software/Computer Component is HACKED so that your Brain has NO-CONTROL over the Body, Imagine being ONLY a Brain in a Body you have NO-CONTROL OVER!

It would be WORSE than being Paralyzed from the Neck Down.... because WHAT IF that Body is doing things that YOU DO NOT LIKE or WISH to do?

A Human Brain that is IN FULL CONTROL of its Synthetic Components and Actions would NOT be Classed as a ROBOT.. they would be Considered a Human to a Large Degree.

But HERE is a FLIP-SIDE Question......

WHAT IF.... a Synthetic Body and Brain was so ADVANCED you could Transfer a Humans Consciousness, Emotions and SOUL if you would into that Synthetic Brain/Body....

Would you be Considered a Human? would you have the same RIGHTS as a Human?  I am sure a Human Brain within a Synthetic Body would, but a Human Soul thats Contained in a A.I/Brain thats a Interesting thing to Ponder.

IF we look at Military Application then YES you would think in the FUTURE and so INDEED with Sci-Fi you would look at HOW you can Enhance a Human as a Combat Operative.  I think that YES that Autonomous Robots or Synthetics would make GOOD MILITARY Troops.... the Lack of Control could be a Worry if they are Autonomous, and IF they are Very Autonomous and become Sentient that would be a MASSIVE PROBLEM.

And do to Enhance your Troops with Cybernetics would make more Sense, and so YES i think there is ROOM to have Cyborgs within the Franchise.

And so the Question i Raised could be Interesting in another way, BECAUSE i think the Future of Robotics and Military would more likely be a Synthetic/Robot/Machine that are Remote Controlled by a Human so it would be say like AVATAR but the Avatars are Synthetic/Robotic Machines rather than Cloned Alien Species.

I know that may seem OFF-TOPIC but i was just looking at it as IF you was to PUT a Human Brain into a Synthetic Body, i think the BETTER THING to do from the Perspective of those WISHING to do this would be to have a Advanced A.I that cane be Interfaced with like we see in AVATAR... or where you Transcend your Memory, Emotions and Self Consciousness into the Robot/Synthetic.

But thats NOT to say you would NOT go and have Cyborgs... like a Army of Robocops etc... so YES i think that its LIKELY we could have CYBORGS within the Franchise.

But there is a huge difference between a cyborg and a synthetic/android/robot/artifical person.

The former is born human that later gets robotical parts added on them be that an artifical spine, limb or even entire body...as long as they keep their brain/soul/consciousness human

The later is constructed at a factory. IIRC Bishop called himself an artificial person, not a cyborg. Unless you meant the T-800 from Terminator 2, who does refer to himself as a cyborg but he is more of a reverse cyborg since the T-800 is a regular robot covered in organic skin.

I think if they included cyborgs in canon, they would have a good opportunity to clarify the difference

At the end of Aliens, if Bishop divulged he was a cyborg, I don't think it would have made a difference to the audience. Cyborg, synthetic, robot, mechanical man, probably be lumped into one. Probably just confuse them.

In order for the SSC's to take orders, they are promised their brains will be returned to their cloned bodies and then allowed to live a peaceful life.

At the end of the story, it is revealed the general used the clone bodies as hosts for the xenomorph species. All the promised clone bodies were destroyed. There are thousands of surviving syborgs left without bodies. Unable to maintain their synthetic bodies they are slowly dying.

well Ash and Bishop weren't completely human-like since they still had limited emotional range.

David was a prototype model but even David wasn't completely human-like

Call was the most human-like of the synthetics but she was from the distant future compared to Ash, Bishop and David.

Edit: I just remembered Vassili Rykov from AVP2 is a partial cyborg since he has a synthetic spine

I don't know...The synthetics in the Alien verse pretty much act like cyborgs. Bishop, Call, David, Ash all act very human.

I could see some sci-fi angles though:

Clone the best soldiers, then remove their brains and install them in cyborgs.... With a guarantee that the government will return their brains to their cloned bodies after their tour of duty.

Offer an old man/woman (Ripley) a new lease on life?

I am not sure we will EVER see the Xenomorph in this way, maybe they could do, but i DOUBT the TV Series would touch upon this.....  I think SHOULD they take such a Route you have to be Careful.... because making them like the TYRANIDS would Evolve them but you also could END UP with them being just like Starship Troopers... if its DONE in a Interesting way and Executed Well... maybe it could Work?

If its NOT Executed Well or done in a Interesting way then i think we could have something that could be a BIT too Comic like...... but saying that there is a MARKET for that.

so it depends on WHAT kind of Market they want to go for, and with DISNEY at the Helm you would think there is more Chance of seeing the Xenomorph Expanded in such a way than there would have been UNDER 20TH CENTURY FOX.

Well in just over 6 Months (Alien Day 2022) i think we may have a BETTER IDEA about where the TV Show and Future of the Franchise will be Heading.

I have NOTICED that some Fans are Hopeful it will SHOW US something about Ripley's History.... her Parents? Grand Parents?  And that we will see a QUEEN.

I think anyone Expecting either are IN for a Disappointment.

The Prequels had Placed the Xenomorph as NOT being a MAIN ASPECT... for it is just a Creation by someone that is INTENDED to Destroy and Cause Horror to Mankind... as RS felt the more IMPORTANT thing was to LOOK at WHO would Create such a thing and WHY?

But before the Prequels we know Ridley Scott saw the Xenomorph as merely being some Organism Created to be used as Bio-logical Warfare.

Some Fans are more a FAN of what JC had in MIND which would be the Xenomorph are a Alien Species that Inhabit a World that the Space Jockey her merely came Across and Attempted to TAKE AWAY and USE for some Nefarious Purpose but they FELL VICTIM to the Xenomorph just as the W-Y (and USM) keep doing in the Franchise.

As to HOW and WHAT the TV Series will SHOW about the Xenomorph is UNCLEAR... but i Suspect it will be SHOWN to be a Organism that the Space Jockey/Engineers had Created or that had EVOLVED from their Experiments....

Will it INDICATE that the Xenomorph is a Ancient Species? who knows... as FAR as being something that was NOT CREATED... i am NOT sure....  I Suspect we are more likely to FOLLOW something similar to Prometheus/Alien Covenant.

Only it may Indicate the Xenomorph that is Encountered will OUT DATE the One from the Prequels and the Franchise.

In Context to the TV Series... i Wonder as to HOW MUCH they are going to Respect the Prequels?  Because it seems that THIS TV SHOW will be SET prior to the Prequels... but it could be SET AFTER the Prologue between Weyland and David.

The Premise seems to be that it would ATTEMPT to Address the GULF between the Mega Rich Corps, and the Common Working Class and to SHOW that the Rich Guys dont GIVE TWO HOOTS about the Lower Class....

It will also DEAL with TWO THREATS.....

One from the FUTURE (A.I) and One from the Ancient Past (Engineers? Xenomorph?).

So as it seems likely that the TV Show will be in the Time-Line of 25-50 Years from the TED TALK 2023 we do-not know HOW MUCH will be about David and Peter Weyland.... they may CAST NEW Actors or they may ONLY have a Few Mentions of them.... or they MAY even NOT Reference them at all.

All we can be SURE about is that it will Reference A.I as a Problem/Threat, and then EVENTUALLY we will Slowly get to Face the Xenomorph......

And that the TV Show will be VERY Action Orientated. And it Promises to Deliver some Good Special Effects.

Oh and that it will be SET in the NOT too DISTANT Future and Prior to the Prequels.... and a Majority of it will take PLACE on Earth....

THIS is my Concern.... Xenomorphs and Engineers on Earth like Prior to 2180 never-mind prior to 2090 would be well SILLY as it SURELY will Conflict the Franchise... which is WHY i Suspect it may be a SOFT REBOOT.

The earlier alien comics would be strongly connected to the Earth War series and mention by other characters how the earth was slowly brought back under human control. 

New technologies were developed to deal with the xenomorphs, (PowerArmor, Plasma Weapons, and Flying APCs) however the xenomorphs put up a heavy resistance so humanity lost a lot of people in their efforts to reclaim earth; it took them roughly 5 years.

 That being said, a reboot if done right could implement things from extracanonical sources into its own canon. I would like to see the xenomorphs becoming more of a cosmic horror entity that slowly becomes dangerous the larger and more numerous their hives become (similar to the Zerg, Tyrranid, and the Flood)

A reboot would help however a reboot has the danger of not being as good as the original movie like this early script from Disney of a Ripley-free Reboot where the main character forget her name will capture a facehugger, incubate it and grow a human-loyal xenomorph to fight "evil" xenomorphs
