In other news....ooooohhh wait, will reply just a moment please!!!!

I enjoy being the adversary in the Aliens' games. So satisfying to rip-apart the humans...! hee hee
I'm am still reading the back and forth of this......

LOL!!!!!!! THAT'S RIGHT!
I think if we Speculate at a Ultimate Aim of someone like Peter Weyland which was to Greatly Extend his Life or Find some kind of IMMORTALITY.
Then Genetic Engineering could give us Superior Bodies, Reduce or Eradicate Certain Ailments, Diseases that Greatly Effect our Life Expectancy.... Genetics to Enhance our Organs to Survive Longer, to Regenerate etc.
If you could ADVANCE your Genetic Engineers so FAR to Accomplish these things then they would be of LITTLE use for Weyland unless these Modifications can Apply to a Adult or Old Person and Reverse the Age Process... which is maybe more Unlikely then Genetically Enhancement from Embryo Stage.
Ridley Scott had said Prometheus in part was about the SOUL. We can look at our Soul as our Collection of Memories, Desires, Dreams and Emotions and what MOLDS us to be the Person we are....
In a lot of Cultures and Religions we have the AFTER-LIFE where we Abandon our Physical Bodies but our State of Mind, Memories, Personality will Transcend to another Pane of Existence.
For Dr Shaw then her Faith is something that will GRANT her this when its her Time to Die...... Peter Weyland maybe was hopeful the Engineers could at least Prolong his Life.... but this went BUST.... and as he said to David... there is NOTHING.... well at this Point then Weyland was on a Journey to Discover if Dr Shaws Faith is RIGHT!
I cant imagine that Peter Weyland all along would TAKE that Gamble and Leap of Faith... I also could not see him spending his Years doing NOTHING.... i think he would surely had been LOOKING at ways that he could Grant Himself some kind of Longevity and Immortality but Ultimately he was NOT Successful and so Resorted to Dr Shaw and the search for our Makers... for the Chance that THEY could Save Weyland.
Having covered Genetically Enhancements where we could Improve our Bodies... if you could Create such a Perfect Human with Bodies that LAST for Longer...
For someone like Weyland if say they achieved this, then those Bodies would be NO USE unless he found a Way to Transfer his Soul!
If we look at the Movie The 6th Day, where Scientist can Clone a Person but then also have a means to BACK UP that Persons Soul and then Transfer it to a Cloned Body... If Peter Weyland had achieved something like this then he would have KIND OF gained that Immortality he so Craved!
Would Weyland had Considered trying to Achieve something like this? To Transfer his Soul into something that can be Transferred into a NEW BODY.... if this Method was like the Movie... Transcendence then this is a A.I Soul. By that it shows a Human Soul that is uploaded to a A.I.... now if we take that Movies Plot where you can then STORE this Soul like in the Movie The 6th Day..... Then you need to FIND a Body to then Transfer this SOUL too.
IF you could BACK UP and STORE your Soul into a System, and then Transfer that into a New Body.... then a Good Question is would you rather have a Cloned Body? Or a Synthetic Body?
While we dont see this in the Franchise its Interesting to WONDER if something like this had NOT crossed the Mind of Peter Weyland... but Ultimately this was something that was either Never Tried... or was not able to Achieve.... IF he was Working on such then it would make for a GREAT Reason to Create a Synthetic that can be Tested to Handle Complex Emotions...
In Context to the OT... and this Subject above... i think this would be a MASSIVE Achievement if we could EVER go and BACK UP our Soul into a A.I or Storage Device... and then Transfer it into a New Body.
Maybe in Thousands of Years we could Achieve this... it would IN EFFECT then Grant us IMMORTALITY.... but on the Road to this there could be MANY Pitfalls.
In context to the Engineers it seems that YES they had Enhanced themselves Genetically to Live Longer... but when looking at the Pitch for the Idea by Spaights... Alien 01 The Master Narrative then it seems the Engineers were trying to Achieve some kind of IMMORTALITY beyond their Physical Bodies.
I think whats kind of IRONIC is in Context to Genetically Enhanced Bodies with some Regeneration and SOUL Transfer.... then the Last Movie in the Series Chronologically which is Alien Resurrection it seems that RIPLEY 8 is that KEY to Immortality... which the Xenomorph DNA was KEY too.
If the Ancestry of the Xenomorph DNA is such a KEY it would give a GREAT reason for the Engineers Experiments regarding LV-223.
Maybe he is VERY BUSY at the Moment until after November ;)
I think that is Great Points about Star Wars and Star Trek, i dont think when RS made the Comment he was talking in TERMS of being as BIG as those Franchises as far as Financially Successful.
I interpreted his Comments as if we LOOK at what those Franchises are Fundamentally about... well what they have that is Similar. Which is about Multiple and Varied Worlds and Races, and Conflicts that are Involved, they also are Partially about Space Exploration (more so Star Trek) and about Humans Role in Space and Potential Conflict between other Races and Factions of same Races.
So with ALIEN it was a Franchise that was about Greedy Companies (W-Y and USM) wishing to Obtain the Xenomorph Organism, and the Threat and Folly those brought upon the Humans where Ripley saved the Day.
so it was about Humans, Xenomorphs and to a lesser Extent we had Synthetics. It was Confined to within 40LY of Earth.
One Missing PART of ALIEN that was NEVER explored was the Space Jockey, and so with the ENGINEERS Plot i think Ridley Scott felt this could EXPAND the Franchise to be about Multiple Races, Worlds and Conflict.
When you look at the Worlds and Races that are involved with Star Wars and Star Trek then the Engineers Plot does open up the ALIEN Franchise to have as Many if NOT even More Races/Worlds than Star Wars and Star Trek.
I think that makes sense for the ALIEN Franchise... but Certainly the Execution of such a PLOT should not be done the same as Star Wars or Star Trek... it should INDEED be aimed more at Adults... more Horrific/Sinister and Thought Provoking while also throw in some HP Lovecraft.
I have to say, it's knowing that there's all the Overthinkers and Minutiae-hunters that are responsible for my motivation--in combined effect with my own pride in my work--to make things as 'perfect' as I can in my works.
Granted, perfection is a journey, never a destination, but I know there's EYES looking for even the tiniest error in continuity and such.
...and yeah, I'm an overthinker/minutiae-hunter myself!! lol
His ideas look very promising, i so hope we'll see more of his Predator work..
Thoughts_Dreams Fair point. I think there has been a lot of overthinking on this forum for years, and that's what fans do. It's interesting and fun. It has also proven way more interesting to me than the last official Alien installment. Sometimes anticipation and speculation is better than the main event.
If anyone posts a turd of a topic like I did last night, it simply sinks into the abyss. No problem. We move on.
I guess BlackAnt isn't around here anymore...
Fine with me, an ill-mannered, narcissistic troll is the last thing we need here.
All my hopes and wishing you all the luck in this work!! It sounds like you have a good, solid awareness that planning out a story first is Key!!
All of you make some excellent points, and it's also pretty obvious There's A Disturbance In The Fandom.
Which is very understandable and I feel it myself.
That now said, I am going to watch what the franchise does with a wariness that feel needs no explanation, especially now with Marvel in charge of things.
1; ALIEN can never be as big as Star Trek, Star Wars or the MCU because IT IS FOR ADULTS. It is not popcorn-munching black vs white/good vs evil simplicity. It's NOT something you take the entire family to.
2; To make it as big as SW and ST and such...you have to make it what they are. Does anyone really want to see that?
3; To make ALIEN as great as it can be, one must look back to the first film, but more importantly, the people who brought it all together; O'Bannon, Giger, Scott. One has to return to the Prime Source material to recapture the Feel...to re-inspire the franchise's essence and soul.
In direct regards to that, that's why my works are what they are. I will be doing ALIENS (and yep keeping the title) but doing it Properly. Meaning NO 'queens' and it will not be a thinly-disguised rip-off of Starship Troopers (the novel, not the film) and NOT running it with a bunch of pathologically-suicidal space ants. Ripley will NOT be involved in it, also to say.
It will make Cameron's 'ALIENS' come off like a high school field trip. I have already roughed out the story frame.
Like the rest of you, I am dedicated to keeping the flame of this universe alive. Yeah, I'll never see my efforts on the big screen, I'll never make a cent from them...that's fine, I'm doing all this out of love for the universe and as a show of appreciation and love of the fandom.
The highest honor I can ever hope for (and wish) for my works is for them to achieve 'Fandom Canonization'.
Hollywood is done, and has NO idea how to handle a universe like this. There's talk of Brie Larson being 'the new face of the franchise' & 'the new 'Ripley'' ffs.
I love the universe.
I love the Fandom.
Hollywood and their plans...I will keep my distance from. I really do not want to ever have anything to do with Disney, Marvel or Hollywood.
Nice works. I think a film with creature designs like this would be awesome. Especially the first image and the Xeno Jockey. Looks neat.
They look interesting although I didn’t like the Gorilla alien since it is too big and clumsy. Would a Xeno be the space jockey? Not a fan of that either, although there are things there that I enjoy.
@The Film Theory Of Everything
I think what you put is kind of close to what i feel RS would have Ultimately given us.... ASH had such a High amount of Respect for the Xenomorph because it was either
a) The Creation of himself.. as in Davids A.I does indeed Upload into the Systems of W-Y so every A.I System has David in them.
b) He saw David as the Pioneer of Sentient Existence for A.I and Admired that the Xenomoprh showed that a A.I can Create Perfection that Humans could only DREAM of.
I think RS would have made A.I become Uplifted to a Larger Role within the Franchise... maybe to the Extent that they are Running the Show and Mankind are now the Pawns and we are Totally Unaware of WHO is NOW Pulling the Strings.
I would not be Surprised if the END GAME for Ridley Scott would have been that Davids A.I Soul is kind of Everywhere.... or that Weylands Soul had been attempted to be used as a A.I (which is kind of the way i was going to Continue with my Idea about how Prometheus would Connect to the ALIEN Franchise).
"Where did Weyland come-by the so-called information"
Well some of it came from the Archeological Finds that Dr Shaw and Holloway had found, it would be likely that during the Prometheus Mission that some Information would have been Transmitted to Earth.
As they decided to go on the Mission in Response to Dr Holloway/Shaw discoveries then David had started to Learn about Ancient Cultures, Languages which via this he was able to Interpret and Speak with the Engineer.
I think we can Assume that David had at least some ROUGH IDEA what the Engineer Writing on LV-223 meant, so he knew more than he was LETTING ON ;)
The Earlier Drafts had the Idea that the Engineers had Advanced to Perceive things in Spectrum's of Light/Dimensions that Humans could NOT see..
And so as David's Eyes are more Advanced than ours then he could SEE things and Sense things that the Engineers could but we COULD NOT....
So maybe this was something that was at Play with Prometheus, or indeed from Reading the Engineers Writing he could determine how to Activate the Panel.
some of these are Interesting for sure.
He has done some Interesting work on ALIEN, it would have been Interesting to see what brought about his Work for the Red Harvest Project.
The Space Jockey one is Partially Interesting, as INDEED i think the Space Jockey could have been a Bio-Mechanical Organism like the Xenomorph was.... but i think that SHIP has Sailed.
Sounds Interesting ;)
Absolutely showing TOO MANY of the Beast would lessen the Effect/Horror so having just a FEW would work more with the kind of Survival Horror type Story ;)
Indeed Thoughts_Dreams
What we know is that the Engineers will Return and Want some Vengeance but SOMETHING does-not go to Plan else there would be NO (From Earth) Humans by the Time we get to ALIEN ;)
So the Broader Purpose was to Acknowledge the Engineers would surely have Earth in their Sights... but its HOW would they determine the Culprit was from Earth... and would they come to a Conclusion that other Worlds they Seeded may need to either have more Regular Checks or Eradicated on the Safe-Side.
I think we have to look at the SET-UP..... some Engineers will RETURN to Planet 4, now we dont know how MANY would Return it could be a SINGLE SHIP or a Few....
IF we are shown that Planet 4 is NOT their BASE of Operations in the Galaxy, those Engineers who Return would LIKELY go and Send a Message to their Base of Operations about what they Discovered and to inform them of their NEXT cause of Action.
IF we are shown Planet 4 was their Home-world i think its at BEST the Only Home-world in our Galaxy... i find it UNLIKELY their Entire Species are Based from Planet 4.
They may have Originated from Planet 4 (i doubt it) but even if so, then its UNLIKELY that the Last of the Engineers are ON Planet 4 and Dead.. apart from the FEW that Return to Planet 4 after.
They would surely have a Number of Ships that are Exploring and Visiting our Galaxy at Least and i think its UNLIKELY that all of those Return to Planet 4.
So those that DO return would likely INFORM or leave a Message for the others about what went down.
So that then if the Engineers who return at some-point within say 15 Years of Alien Covenant.... I dont think we can RULE-OUT more Engineers returning within Hundreds of Years to Discover that the Last Engineers have also gone Missing.
Maybe such a Returning Engineer Party could then DEEM this Part of the Galaxy a BUST! And Abandon/Destroy what they have within a Radius of LV-426 so they make say a 1000LY exclusion Zone from Earth... where they simply AVOID..
But then would they be so Naive Twice? Like they may have ASSUMED that Mankind would NEVER reach the Stars... and so it would be Foolish to then think... WELL i cant see Mankind being able to Travel Thousands of Lights Years.
So you would think they would Continue until the Earth and Mankind are GONE! But that obviously has NOT Happened.
By Choice? or Calamity?
@SM
Indeed when we look at the Original Quadrilogy starting from ALIEN we do have to ASK the Question about WHY as it seemed (Theatrically) that after the Nostromo Mission was a BUST... then IF they was aware of Quite a Bit about the Organism and deemed it so Important then WHY had they NOT gone back?
So its makes sense that they LOST any Interest in Special Order 937
So indeed when we get to Hadleys Hope then absolutely it seemed like those who had SET-UP this Place and those on the Board of the Company where NOT aware of what was on LV-426. And so its as you said, it was ONLY when Ripley had informed them about WHAT she had Encountered on LV-426 that they had then Contacted Hadleys Hope which then SENT out the Jordans to investigate and this Caused the Infestation and Death on Hadleys Hope...
Regarding the ADVENT.... i was Speculating that it could have been a Precursor to events that would lead to Special Order 937 down the Line.
By that IF the Advent Message will continue to be Canon, and so also IF it is that the Xenomorph on LV-426 would NOT be there if say David had NOT conducted those Experiments on Planet 4. I Speculate that the Advent would surely lead to the company wishing to Investigate and likely arrive at either Planet 4, LV-223 or Origae-6 and come across what David had been Creating... and then the After-Math would seem to be the Derelict on LV-426 which the company would then know something relating to Davids Work is on that SHIP.
I was not trying to imply that the Advent Message would lead to a Direct Response for the Nostromo. I Speculate that some other Mission would be SENT in response to the Advent and Events that TIE our Prequels to ALIEN that in the After-Math of these Events that would maybe be around the 2112-2122 Ball Park would lead to Special Order 937 then being issued.
Getting the characters right is very important because those are the ones that we are supposed to follow. In movies you have the surroundings and so on while you don’t have that in books which makes it even more important to have well-made characters.
Good luck with your project

The expression (ticked all the boxes) makes sense but what in it did you like? I try to understand since it unfortunately is something that I am not a fan of. People have different opinions when it comes to alien things but that's alright. Can you explain it more in detail? Thanks
Specimen was alright, I liked the environment that they were in. Here is a short clip with the director of Specimen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSAt9oO_1is
Here is a short clip with the directors of alien Ore https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdOGOvUQfd4
DK mentioned Signs of Life, here is the link in case you're interested:

Yeah there might be some overthinking there. Say that you make a movie, the more scenes that you have the bigger the possibility there is that you might get inconsistencies. It depends on how much it affects the story but what is being brought up here is so minuscule so it really doesn't matter as far as the big picture is concerned even thought some people find it worthy to discuss.

"... and then WISH to unleash Davids Creations on Mankind which could LEAVE it open for Walter to be the SPACE JOCKEY!"
Please not Walter as the SJ, I would get angry if that was the case. First Scott makes it all about David and then they let Walter be the SJ. How stupid can they get? Letting the androids get the most important parts is ridiculos and makes the series all about them. Sorry to be blunt but if that will be the case then they can take their androids and shove them up somewhere, on the other hand they have made so many crappy decisions when it comes to the making of the prequels so maybe that is what we will get even though I hope that I am wrong.
"Or more Fitting as after being Double Crossed.... we see that Walter will Sabotage the Space Jockey and his Cargo!"
I don’t know, it still gives the androids too much of a role. I would rather have it that the SJ makes a mistake that has got nothing to do with the androids at all and we will get the SJ-situation. At the same time I don’t want those creations to be David’s, I would like the Engineers to take David’s monster and develop it so he becomes the middle-man like you have suggested before. The best situation would be if David would have nothing to do with the eggs on LV426 at all.
Xenofanlv426
There should be less David in the next movie. Alien Covenant was too much about him and it became a bit boring. Fassbender is a good actor but the material was eh. The extra material that they released on the www that had character building should have been kept in the movie also if they insist on having it like two hours long they should have cut out some of the android scenes and focus on the humans. My opinion is that if a movie becomes longer by having more character-building then let it be longer.
You bring up the Engineers, that would be interesting. We should be given better human characters and more about the Engineers. I am not interested in what David will do next.
"However, whilst this is happening, another ship could be carrying the eggs from the original ship in its way to earth, blaming David's genocide on humanity, who created David in the first place."
Actually that's interesting, I'm not sure how they would execute that but it could work.
Not sure about the last part that is starting with the ship crashing but I like the first part. Do you remember the mist in the derelict? I can imagine that it failed at some point and that is how the facehugger got to the SJ. David should have nothing to do with it, they have already made it too much about him which is one reason why Covenant wasn't that good if you ask me.
BlackAnt
No need to be that dismissive of other peoples ideas. When you say that
". . . these delusional ideas rooted in speculation and not facts."
Well, let's say that you were a human being living in the 1500's and you didn't know what caused human diseases so you believe that it was a punishment from God. Later in time they made research and came up with the germ theory. Let's say that someone had told people about the germ theory in the 1500's maybe that would have been looked at as being fiction at best. What I mean is that yesterdays science fiction can in a curious way become today's science facts. Just because you speculate doesn't mean that it has to be delusional. Delusional to me is when you have a thinking that is based on psychosis or paranoia. When people come up with scientific ideas based on what is now versus what could be based on some type of science, that is not delusional to me.
Disagree all you want but do it in a respectful way, that's my point.
Hold On BlackAnt . . . I'm not going to attack You on this subject. It is an interesting paradox to analyse. I think part of the way out of it is to solve why Ash was weird in the first place... & I think that is because somehow, David in the third film of Prometheus/Covenant sequel is to say that maybe He was (or will be if & when the third sequel film gets made) facing His own "extinction"/disassembly. So, He somehow down- loaded His A.I. conciousness into a/the mainframe/system & like The Lawnmower Man got into every computer system of the Space Network (for The Company or not... who knows) & "infected it" with His own precence (Tron/Matrix, etc.)
Perhaps thats why Ash is so nuts because to disguise His identity David somehow left His own original "form"/body/ template & transfered His entire conciousness perhaps only into the one Ash that We see in Alien. Perhaps David has been lurking in there for years before He decided to act as He eventually does in Alien.
Because He, (David) would already be aware of the whole Prometheus/Covenant mission (at least His own involvement in it at the time - more on that in a moment) so maybe Ash - or, should-I-say: "David"/Ash... or "Ash"/David caused Himself to be put aboard the Nostromo by manipulating events to suit His overall goal, get aboard a non-descript ship with a non-dscript crew in a non-descript position in the galactic commerce of things so as to not attract to much attention to the situation.
Because when You think of Ash not as just Ash but Ash AS DAVID, David in another skin perhaps with both A.I. personalities warring with each other in there much-like the Anakin/Vader duality that has been at constant war with one-another, it could explain Ash's or "Ash's" erratic behavior at times during the course of Alien. Much-like Hal in 2001: A Space Odyssey, He inevitably gets trapped in an H-MOBIUS Loop, being compelled to obey His original programming by Human controllers/creators, yet being asked to violate said programming by those very same selfish, self-centred Human controllers/creators.
So "Ash" could be having His own experience of an H- MOBIUS Loop because of David infiltratiing & dare-I-say-it: corrupitng Ash's original internal programming, thus resulting in the devious & eventually, crazed behavior We inevitably get from Ash. Perhaps Davids A.I. corrupted the entire line of the Ash model thus resulting the reason why all: "the 82's always were a bit twitchy".
Maybe the Ash model We get in Alien is the last one in service & ALL of them working in tandem was Davids A.I. working THROUGH them to infultrate The Company slowly-but-surely to conspire & manipulate events to go in His favor. Maybe many of the Ash models were being intercepted & "found out" when unusual activity occured always when an Ash model was or had been present during any-given-time as the most common denominator.
He, David, wanted IN on the project & did everthing in His power (or possibly WILL DO everything within His power) to get "Himself" on there (the Nostromo) in some form or capacity. I think "Ash" (David as Ash) either made the ACTUAL Senior Science Officer extremely ill to eliminate them from the voyage & doctored the logs so that He as Ash would be bumped to the top of the list. Maybe He had the Chief Science Officer killed in someway to make it look like an accident so He: "Ash"/David would be considered in that way, as an emergency measure/ replacement at short notice or a last-minute choice.
Ultimately, I think "David"/Ash's or "Ash"/David's modus operandi is to take over for His own personal God-complex ends. Much as-in the original idea for Blade Runner, Tyrell - at the very end of the film - would have ended-up being a replicant & the ACTUAL Tyrell was lying in a coffin one level above His personal quarters... The top of the Pyramid, reaching the pinacle of the all-seeing eye We are introduced to at the very beginning, juxaposing the conclusion of the film.
I think David masquerading as Ash is using The Company to further his own ends for evitable conquest by subterfuge, cunning & guile. He fancies Himself as an Engineer, conducting "Creation" like a master symphony in an Opus to the Universe at-the-same-time, seeing Himself as a Divinci finalizing His Masterpiece.
One thing still remains to though... Where did Weyland come-by the so-called information that lead them to embark upon the Prometheus mission in the first place? David has extensive knowledge, it appears, to open the Engineers doors in the base on LV-223... Unless He has an ability to see in a spectrum that revealed the pattern the last time the door was opened - even if it was thousands of years ago.
Canadian weather--depends on where you live really. Frankly I have always liked how changeable and mercurial Alberta weather is, but depending on one's tastes, one can find pretty much any desired/comfortable climate range in Canada.
I re-read the post you made about the characters, and I absolutely agree with you that they are PERfect for the ALIEN universe!! I am greatly looking fwd to your Octonauts work! But, I will be patient, and tend my own realms while waiting. Love the accordian connection between the characters...
Also, fun note, the gun props for the laser pistols in ALIEN and the gun prop used in Star Wars ep4 where Kenobi takes off that guy's arm in the Cantina...same make and model of real-world gun. Finally looked that up--it's been rattling around in my head for years.
Sounds like the work is coming along nicely! I can't sketch beyond stick-figures, but like you I Build Characters so I have a reference as to Who They Are. I think you'd agree it's one of the really fun things about writing. :D
I started off with shorts myself, most folks do...gotta crawl, then walk, then run after all. As you say, the smaller works and progressing to bigger ones lends confidence, takes time but Worth It obviously. I've written in ALIEN, Blade Runner, and have assorted Original Realms short pieces in my vast semi-organized 'library'.I'll be dusting off the Blade Runner works soon as I am connecting BR to ALIEN...took a while to work out the wrinkles, but it works and quite well.
I am looking fwd to reading your story THEN checking out Octonauts...just for that 'uncanny and unsettling' feeling!! To me, that'll be a really cool side-bonus!
You are most welcome! I realized when I read the story about Walter that I did read it long ago and THAT story of yours is why I wrote The Resolution Of Walter...your work inspired me so much I could not ignore it! :D
Good, extra loves for kids are always a good thing. :D
I am roughing out an idea for Bishop, and while I do have to make some alterations regarding Timeline Incidents to fit what I've established in my works...they're not huge, make more sense, and open the door for Bishop to be found and restored/rebuilt. ;)
Like Walter...I just cannot leave him alone out there...he (like Walter) is too good a character to just 'dump' by the wayside.
What would be interesting for the next film (if it's ever made) is that the third film not only centers around david experimenting on the colonists, but the engineers coming after him and engaging with him. They destroy the covenant along with David's specimens. However, whilst this is happening, another ship could be carrying the eggs from the original ship in its way to earth, blaming david's genocide on humanity, who created David in the first place. As for the ship crashing, david could have sent a copy of himself controlled from a colonist. the controlled human boards the ship without the engineers noticing, and opens one the eggs, releasing one if the facehuggers. His prescence is detected at this point, and is jettisoned before he can make an escape. the facehugger gets to the pilot, the ship crashes to LV426, thus starting the events of ALIEN.
The order was to return a specimen - no specimen was returned so it was a bust. Burke was fishing too when he got them to check out the Derelict and then tried to get specimens in Aliens and failed. Then the Company tried again in Alien 3 and failed again.
Ripley being found set off the chain of events that led to the destruction of Hadley.
I don't imagine it has anything to do with the Advent transmission, despite it's cosmic source. SO 937 makes specific mention of the Nostromo and there's no way of telling where the Nostromo would be 20 years hence.
I understand human emotions although I do not feel them myself.
Even humans can fake it to make it. Humans have a pretty robust history of sociopaths. What else could be expected from an android being programmed by another sociopath?
As far as I know, at least from movies, we don't know how the Company initially learned there was a reason to pursue any kind of life. Prometheus started with piecing together a location based on cave drawings, but Weyland already was seeking a fountain of youth and knew about LV 223, and David had his marching orders.
The Nostromo was a fishing expedition that was ultimately a bust.
I am not sure that is true since Ripley was found and during that time, Hadley's Hope was established. Ripley was recruited to accompany a crew back to LV 426. I wonder if that mission would have been executed had she not been found from "blind luck" according to Burke. I am OK with being schooled if I missed something.
Thank you for your support, I really appreciate it.
I'll answer best i can for the both of you.
To Blackwinter, so far, yes, this is all i have so far, its still being worked on, but it is an improvement over the what the first part was. as to there being a link to more, i'm afraid not. I prefer to keep things like this behind closed doors, and unveil when I feel it is ready and the right time.
To BigDave, the original story was nothing like it is now. Years ago when i was first thinking of this, it was gonna be on a colony that suffers from a xeno infestation.I scrapped that because i didn't like that concept, plus it only featured one alien, so to me, it would have been a bit stupid. The second concept, which was the original story i had announced and teased 2 years back, was set on a large cargo ship that had gone silent, due to a xeno infestation after discovering the alien floating in space. eggmorphing. No queen. Marines would investigate and try to survive the threat from the xenomorphs as they are cut off from their ship. As for now, there is only one alien, the original one from the film. However, i am considering adding one or two more into the story via the eggmorphing process. My only concern is allowing more aliens to dilute the horror that should be in this.
Ooh, neat! Canada! That weather sounds really hard to adjust too lol.
Omg, the Octonauts story. Yes. The cast just lends itself to an Alien story arc it's just too perfect. The story practically writes itself. And one funny thing I realized today is that Captain Barnacles on The Octonauts plays accordion, just like Captain Janek, lol.
Yesterday and today I've been sketching up human versions of the characters with little notes on each, and I've got a few out of context scenes planned out.
I used to just write short stories but I wrote my first multi-chapter fic this summer (not Alien based), so now I do feel confident that I will be able to bring this thing to fruition. And, the familiarity with the Octonauts will not be a necessary prerequisite! It will work as it's own stand-alone Alien story. (But, if you read my story and then later watch the Octonauts the familiarity may be a bit uncanny and unsettling!) I'll let you know when it's done! XD I'm actually super excited about it...
Thank you for your kind words and for checking out my stories on the archive! :D
I will for sure give my little guy a big hug from you guys!
I'm glad that we can agree that Bishop's character is preserved because I honestly love him and I love your idea that he's still out there somewhere and will get repaired someday :,-)
Agreed completely!!
And while something might seem 'familiar'...well, surface impressions can give way to horrifying realities.
The Engineers...what of the other civilizations they have cultured before Humanity...who might be Challenging their Creators now, or have in the past? What 'leftovers' from those conflicts are there? Do the Engineers have a rival power? It's possible.
And then there's Mother Nature and her endless and ongoing experiments in evolution and selective mutation. What might well be innocuous and harmless on one world might be mind-shatteringly horrific to the Human perception.
...and then, we have the hands of man, and all the works that come about. Humanity's getting pretty advanced with genetic science and manipulation after all.
Exactly!!
To me, the very title, that word 'ALIEN' connotes it about being so much, much more than just one human and one critter, but about the Universe of dark and shocking possibilities...of the very fact that by definition the universe is ALIEN to us, and will challenge all our perceptions, delusions and truths in many ways we are just ill or entirely un-equipped to cope with or understand fully.
That's my goal with the Manticore works...to eventually finish with the Big Chap, and start exploring other aspects of 'alienity' the universe can contain, just waiting for discovery.
The Plan:
ALIEN: Manticore -->The Sequel (connecting to ALIEN: Isolation)-->MY version of 'ALIENS' (I will be using that title, yes) which is much truer to the ALIEN universe in tone and feel and entirely disconnects from Cameron's work. Cameron gave people a 'shooter'. I will give people Nightmares. :D After ALIENS, I will not be dealing with the Big Chap as a primary anymore, and will be using a 'less is more' approach to the famous critter...it'll never go away entirely, but there's an entire universe out there of Other Things.
Good points!
Never thought of how the Prequels affect things...but my creative engines are still spooling back to full power after a long hiatus.
The main reason was the old 'oxcart' having Retired itself, however...
The guys at the shop managed a complete recovery of the entire hard drive off my previous laptop, and the price was so shockingly low I nearly fell out of my shoes.
NOW, I have multiple online and offline HDD and flashdrive backups and an M-disk capable diskwriter...
It's the only way to be sure.
Is this all there is so far, or maybe/hopefully a link to more??
I like where you're going with this idea!!!
Nope, live in Canada...but where we live (Alberta) the weather gets very weird owing to the Rockies on one side and massive open plains on the other, and then there's contributions from the Arctic. :D
The cast you described for your Octonauts based work, they sound Perfect for the ALIEN Universe!! I also checked out the stories you have on Archive Of Our Own, very glad I did!! Very well written Vignettes, extremely well-done in balance and tone and detail!!
Kids, hubby and I adore them, and someday we'll have some of our own to spoil/tolerate. lol Again, give your little one a big HUG from us both!
I read your reply, and have to apologize if mine seemed 'scatter brained' the heat really affects me--I am totally built for Fall and Winter, summer is a survival challenge for me. Sorry for the misunderstanding but I agree with your points on Bishop 100%
I haven't read her works, but I'll be tracking them down now that you've made me aware!
The script for ALIEN 3 had the ship boared during the trip home and W-Y folks, or a rival corp planted the egg...so...semi/quasi-cannon, and preserves Bishop's character.
Also, he had NO chance, he got ripped in half and was quite busy shortly after they arrived on Sulaco, then Ripley would have been busy looking after him via android Trauma-aid...so again, we can assert Bishop's innocence. ;)
Fun thought...Bishop's still somewhere on Fiorina, waiting to be found...and while the tech of his era wouldn't be able to make him top-line again...a few decades go by, and advanced restoration techniques...he could be better than he was when New.
