I have a hankering to watch Alien: Covenant today, myself 😂 I find the more often I rewatch Prometheus and Covenant the more I appreciate them. People were so critical of these two films when they first came out but honestly, Scott did a great job with them. Prometheus will always have those subtle issues with the writing, Charlize Theron (my least favorite character) and the matching heart rates but it really was a decent film.
Both Prometheus and Covenant have vastly more unsettling and scary "Alien" moments than anything that's come since. The Hammerpede attack, the Trilobite, the Deacon bursting scene in Prometheus. The Backburster scene in Covenant. And - Michael Fassbender as David - can't beat David and Fassbender's performance.

The only character I didn't like in the Alien movies was that uppity, self righteous, hypocrite doctor. She had blood on her hands because she wouldn't allow a security detail with the others.
You do realize she was overruled on that right? That has nothing to do with what happens to Fifield and Millburn or Holloway. Believe me I rewatched Prometheus last night

Neomorph Alien: Covenant ForumShould Ridley Scott make a sequel to Alien: Covenant or create something new?Aug 29, 2025Reply
Yes, follow up on Covenant so we could finally (hopefully) get some well deserved closure. Leaving Daniels and Tennessee in the freezer for evil David to plan his experimental cooking is just foul lol. Have David cornered by a pissed off mob of surviving colonists armed with colonial farming tools, and let them go full medieval on his milky android ass. Shred him to bits and blow him out the airlock through his favorite flute to the tune of Einzug der Götter in Walhall by Das Rheingold Prodigy Remix.
*Credits roll*
That's quality writing right there. Anyway I can't stand David but that's a testament to how well Michael Fassbender portrays the vile mastermind. It would also be a perfect opportunity to flesh out his motives beyond passionately creating, philosophing and destroying. Wickedness aside he's an interesting multifaceted character not entirely unlike Tony Soprano or Patrick Bateman and surely he must've evolved a lot during the journey towards Origae-6, his own giant canvas for sure.
Realistically though I don't think a sequel will happen. Will Michael, Katherine Waterston and Danny McBride be interested at this point, 8 years after the release of Covenant? Maybe, hopefully. Who knows but fingers crossed that it'll happen and more importantly that it will at least be above average.

Me too! I think having the series and the Romulus sequel on the way, the Xenomorph will be well taken care of so it really would free up space for Scott to lean into the Engineer backstory more. It could be a perfect match and would satisfy both sides of the fandom, cause many of us are getting desensitized to the same old predictable Xenomorph chaos.

It makes me sad that they let the orange cat die. Jonesy was a survivor and his throwback should have survived too. It's bad enough that they 'killed' a cat in the first place but if they 'had' to do it then they should have put two cats on the Maginot and had the other non-orange cat be the victi.

I'll add Aliens Dark Descent to the psychic link to the xenomorphs. I thought about doing a topic on it but here's a good place. In that game, Sargent Jonas Harper and his daughter Cassandra have telepathic abilities. A cult kidnaps Cassandra and attempts to use her to communicate with the xenomorph. That's the broad strokes basically. I believe the novel Alien Covenant Origins had a weird psychic link which was how xenomorph were featured. Some old Dark Horse comics I believe as well did this. Like I said an "anything you can do i can do better" mind set with this writing.

interesting episode 4 but overall it's my least favourite. I love the sheep/goat scene most which is really creepy. The pace is little dragged and disconnected from other scenes. Maybe I have to rewatch it.

I was wondering about that brief scene with Boy and Atom, while they are observing the eye creature attack the sheep. Boy slams the ball he always plays with into the glass, and Atom grabs it with the speed and agility of an Android. I wonder if this is a misdirect, or if Atom is secretly another one of Boy's Androids (like Kirsh). It would track that Boy Kavalier would not only surround himself with rnYes-Men, but would go so far as to create those Yes-Men himself.
Ooooo wait you’re so right, I totally did not make that connection!! It reminds me of when Ash first woke up from cryo sleep, and they hint at him being an android while he’s doing his stretches…
And if you’re right, then his coldness to Hermit about Wendy not being human would make a lot of sense (while watching that I was like dang dude you’re an stone cold ice queen)
Maybe he has surrounded himself with synthetics as attempts to create someone as intellectually superior as himself, but they all failed to reach his level thus why he created the hybrids?

lmao “Very silly” is such an accurate description for that movie <333 (love it to death though AHAHHA)
I also totally agree it was definitely more coherent and straight forward!! But on the other hand, TV shows gotta keep up the mystery so you stay interested, so maybe they’re being intentionally stingy with their reasonings for now… Hopefully it all starts to come together and makes sense soon. I guess that’s the drawback of weekly episodes, it interrupts the flow and it’s easier to forget and/or miss things!!

Well said, I do agree with you. As much as the perfectionist in me wishes it could all connect like a perfect puzzle piece – I realize it never will. Too many hands in the cookie jar. You bring up good points as well. I was hopeful the series would have tied into or expanded on the prequel lore and the expansion Ridley Scott set out to do with Prometheus. I'll fight for that expansion till my last breath 😂As much as I personally want the series to make sense and fit into film canonical timelines, I too am thankful it exists in its own lane now. I just don't understand why writers, directors and producers wouldn't WANT to keep everything tightly knit and connected into one cohesive thing. I guess to each their own. Also, your OP had weird formatting and one typo, so I did my best to fix the formatting and fixed the Alien: Earth release year to 2120 from 2020. 🙂 Great topic, though! As for why they wouldn't want things connected, I think it's this arrogant thinking of "anything you can do i can do better". Minor spoiler for tonight's episode of Alien Earth: There's a tense confrontation between Dame Sylvia and Nibs and Sylvia attempts to diffuse the situation by offering tea. Watching the scene i was like "hmm where have I seen this before?" Prometheus naturally. Hawley wants to draw things from it but not tie into it. Arthur and Dame can't conceive children? Sounds like Shaw and Holloway. He picked what he liked and ignores the rest. Also reminds me of the thinking that went into the Star Wars sequels where the lead up to Episode VII was all about downplaying the prequels. It was pretty clear JJ Abrams didn't care for them therefore didn't want to acknowledge them. Same with Rian Johnson. It does make me appreciate that Fedè Alvarez embraced all aspects of the franchise with Romulus. Plenty of call backs to virtually every movie and forging an intimate connection to prequel lore. Even if it came off of as memberberry overload.
Why wasn't the redheaded girl examined after that multi eyed octopus attacked her? I think that thing put something inside her and that is why she is so hostile now. She was a scared rabbit before.

This would make sense actually. With a name like Atom too, makes me wonder as well. His demeanour matches that of a Synthetic, much like David’s butler vibes in the prequels during his service to Weyland. I bet we see Atom and Kirsh knock heads soon, as you can see Kirsh disdain growing for Boy 😂 He’s so sick of his shit lol
ChrisAlien: Earth ForumEpisode 4 Observation Spoiler DiscussionAug 27, 2025Reply
True I guess we do get instances where Xenomorphs “speak” in previous films, namely Resurrection. David and the Neomorph was something of a pre-communication event but you could tell he was on his way – which is why David reacted so “emotionally” to the Neomorph being killed.
I assumed Kirsh had simply relayed Weyland-Yutani’s records and their reference of the creature as a Xenomorph, but again – lazy writing, this could have easily been referenced in a quick 3 second frame when he was scanning the records on the Maginot.
I’m giving this show benefit of the doubt and enjoying the ride for what it’s worth but the writing is pretty bad. Again, maybe it’s how my brain works but I like things to be organized and to assume the audiences will just assume they know what a Xenomorph is, is lazy writing.

In the opening moments of episode 4 while Kirsh, Dame and her husband are examining Wendy Kirsh calls the organism a xenomorph. Right after that Boy walks in and he also calls it a xenomorph. I can't recall seeing a prior reference by Prodigy personnel so maybe they've reviewed the Weyland - Yutani files off screen.
Nibs seems to be having a psychotic break. Dame referees to this as a level 3 event, so they either have some prior experience with this or they already had a protocol for someone not adapting to the hybrid "upgrade". Nibs was touched on the face by the eyeball monster's tentacles in episode 2 but managed to push it off. Did the creature possibly implant something that could take over a synthetic just like it did the sheep?
Wendy's brother raised a great point - shouldn't the other kids families be there. Shouldn't there have been parties instead of funerals? These kids are just property now - "human" lab rats if you will.
Not sure what Kirsh is up to. He knows about Morrow and Slightly's plan to face hug some but I don't know what he's going to do about it.
And lastly Wendy and her pet chest burster is just a bit much. I truly hope they are not planning a Jurassic World raptor whisperer type role for her.

Fishy FriendAlien: Earth ForumEpisode 4 Observation Spoiler DiscussionAug 26, 2025Reply
Nibs stating that she was pregnant definitely threw me for a loop at first, but as Dame Sylvia was questioning her I started to see how her believed “pregnancy” is probably a manifestation of the trauma she experienced on the Maginot. Nibs is just a kid and wouldn’t know how to cope with what happened, and thus made up this pregnancy in her head as a way to explain the feelings she has (plus a “trauma pregnancy” fits in nicely with the rest of the symbolism of the franchise lmao).
As to the mysticism of the Xenomorphs in relation to their communication with Wendy, I actually didn’t view this as being an entirely new concept. In multiple movies there have been scenes where I believed humans and Xenomorphs to have a strange parent/child “connection”, symbolism which obviously stems from the way Xenomorphs are parasitically birthed from humans. Ripley 8 + Newborn, Kay + Offspring, David + Neomorph, all stood out to me as having this connection (although now as I type this out I guess I realize that most these examples are not typical humans nor typical Xenomorphs) BUT my point still stands that I had initially seen this as an expansion on something that has been hinted at before.
This connection isn’t to show Xenomorphs being “humanized”, but instead highlight their bastardization of humanity- Birthed from us, but twisted and animalistic (hey wait, this reminds me of that scene of Kirsh telling Wendy that she is “no longer an animal”, hmmmm……. I must reflect on this)
I just pray that they don’t try to make the Xenomorph a “good guy” in any way through its connection with Wendy, I need it to show it’s true nature and turn on her and everyone else!
Also I totally know what you mean with Boy Kavalier calling it a Xenomorph out of the blue, I was so shocked and tried to rack my brain to try and remember if that was the first time they referent to the alien by that name or not HAHAHAHHA I hope they clarify!!!!

Disney has now officially turned the once dreadful xenomorph into the new baby Yoda (chestburster plushie in stores now!) Wendy doing her deadpan facial expression akin to a literal bird nesting box while chirping and petting a chestburster, Dame explaining to Nibs how a woman's egg is fertilized by the man's sperm and Morrow asking Slightly to steal a xenomorph egg, all combined in dragged-out and cringe worthy scenes with acting so bad I'm starting to wonder if Tommy Wiseau secretly wrote the script. I get that series have filler episodes but this is disappointing garbage. Sorry to put it so bluntly and again it's not my intention to rain on anyone's parade. I'm just speaking from my heart here. This is a high budget production marred by atrocious writing.

I love sci-fi obviously but ironically I wasn't as captivated by Blade Runner 2049 and Dune as I was with his earlier works such as Prisoners and Sicario, which are some of the most tense films I've seen in recent memory. Denis really knows how to set a mood, build tension and create eerieness down to the slightest detail, and with that in mind coupled with the fact that he's a phenomenal director overall, I'd really like to see his take on an Alien film, in true Denis cinematographic flair if you will.

I totally agree. I love all his movies, especially DUNE, Blade Runner and Arrival. His visual is magnificent. If he directs ALIEN one day that will be so interesting because O'Bannon & HR Giger were supposed to be involved in the production of ''Jodorowsky's Dune'' but the movie ended up cancelled. For that reason the ideas of ALIEN came along. If Denis Villeneuve directs a sequel that will be like coming to a full circle.

I originally thought Wendy was the one rejecting her body, but it looks like Nibs is the one it's happening to. That, or she is somehow in communication (or being controlled) with the eye monster, like Wendy is for the Xenomorph. I wonder if each of the kids will connect/communicate with each of the monsters, there's one for each of them I think.rnAlso, this made me laugh so hard lol.
Nibs is definitely not adapting well to being a hybrid. If you look back at episode 2 at the 26:30 mark the eyeball monster actually touches Nib's face with its tentacles. On first watch I thought Nibs caught with her hands and avoided further contact but she didn't. I can't claim credit for spotting this - someone on YouTube caught it first. But I wonder if the eyeball was able to implant something much like Morrow did to Slightly. At the very least Nibs was deeply shaken by the whole experience. I also wonder how Prodigy knows that adults don't adjust to the transition to being a hybrid. The company might have had a few unsuccessful prior experiments to come to this conclusion.

Agreed – it’s well known now that David merely played in the Engineer’s sandbox, he didn’t create the perfect organism, he tried to mimic it. There is still plenty of mystery left to the Xenomorph’s origins, which I’m thankful for. Praying someone someday picks up where Scott left off 🥲
