I only listed Terminator because I was referring only to movies which BigDave listed.

El (or il or al) is not Aramaic exclusive only, it is the name of the supreme Deity of every canaanite (Phoenician, Jewish, Ugaritic, etc) religion and has a wife Asherah. The historian  Israel Finklestein considers that Jews became monotheistic only around the 6 century BC, as a reaction to their deportation to Babylon.

And the Acuser (well the snake in this case) in Garden of Eden is very similar to the Greek Titan Prometheus as he gives knowledge to humans (if this evil or not is up to you). In Job he acts more like a district attorney against the man's lack of faith. He becomes Evil only after the Jews come in contact with the Persian Empire (with their dualist Zoroastrianism) in the 5th century.

I agree, although I'd be fine with a Ripley relative like Alien Isolation (which I cannot believe has not gotten a sequel)

Bigdave, does Disney official own the rights etc to Alien now? Does Fox have time to launch one last Alien film bf Disney takes over? I think only with Fox will we get another prequel; I think Disney will go the Alien 5 route. I love your David's head idea as a way of dumping David.

Just Terminator. I can think of others such as Hardware, Cyborg (not the Van Damme one), Screamers, hell one could even argue WarGames. Then there's killer AI's in Demon Seed, Saturn 7, 2001, the Star Wars prequels etc. Sadly I have just kinda muted my point of exploring AI with a movie about David, the subgenre is kinda already flooded.

I get that you mentioned Lucifer because of Scott's attempts to bleed John Milton's Paradise Lost into Covenant's narrative, but did you know that Lucifer and Satan are two separate entities...

Although some scholars argue that Lucifer is in reference to a king of that name, there is actually a hidden alternative that to my knowledge is virtually unknown. Lemme try to explain:

In Aramaic God has two names, Jehovah and El.

Most angel names end in 'el', such as Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Azarel. The English names for these Angels sound virtually identical to and are sourced from their Aramaic names. In this instance, the 'el' means of God. For example, Gabriel means Messenger (Gabri) of God (El).

The name Satan actually stems from the Aramaic Satanel, which means Accuser (Satan) of God (El).

Lucifer, however, is not a name of Aramaic origin, its origin is Greek and means 'The Morning Star' and was translated from the Hebrew Helel, which means 'Bright', 'Lucent' and 'Shiny', a variant Heylel means 'Shining One', 'Lightbearer' or 'Bringer of Dawn'. Lucifer is said to have challenged God, thus his Aramaic name is not used, so as to shame him forever.

You can clearly see that the meaning behind the name Satan bears absolutely no parallels to the meanings of Lucifer, Helel, or Heylel.

Then if you compare Satans mention in the Bible (Garden of Eden, Jesus' crucifixion) to Lucifers, you will see that again there are no parallels. Satan appears to manipulate and poison whereas Lucifers pride saw him challenge God, wage war in heaven and be banished to Hell. 

Furthermore, no Angel has two distinctly different names with polarizing different meanings, thus Satanel and Heylel are two separate entities.

Finally, I am not religious in the slightest, and if I was to label myself with a religion I would use Jedi.

True, David was portrayed slightly different to Lucifer...

I do however wonder if we see a different ARC in the next movie, its certainly what i am thinking in regards to my ideas for the sequel...  Where David would be prepared to allow for Mankind to have a New Start, but lay down some ground rules and attempt to be his own King/God.

The themes behind Terminator and Matrix do differ in how they tackle the fate of Humanity, and i think either could be explored in the Franchise to a degree.... do we see eventually AI overtake Mankind leading to events like we see in Alien Resurrection where Synthetics Create the Autons...  

Do we see David set up a Colony and appears to be a New Start for Mankind, unbeknown to them David has a Agenda much like the Machines in the Matrix, where Mankind is Pacified into thinking we have a great existence but we really are just Power for the Machines... so David could use the Colonist for his Xenomorph Army but has to do so in a way they are unaware.

could either of these TWO routes actually be what has been going on all along and the real reasons for the Engineers Creation or our Creation?

I think a sinister Element has to be added to the Franchise, where more Emphasis is on the Xenomorph or the Organism that gave rise to the Black Goo, i think in this respect they need to Re-Visit HR Gigers Concepts and Ideas for ALIEN

Many aspects are similar indeed to how i was to tackle Prometheus 2 and indeed also how i am in the Processes of a Alien Covenant Sequel....   My ideas are slightly different to yours but its nice to see someone with some similar ideas.

*I too had seen clues to connect LV-223 to the Derelict, Hammerpedes could have been the culprit but alas, we have AC that changes the Creator so to speak of the Xenomorph.

*My Prometheus 2 indeed would cover the company and AI, it revealed a Twist, with a Vickers AI, Geisha Yutani Androids, and reveal a Secret AI Plan where Weylands tried to upload his Soul to a AI but it had problems, and so Weylands last hope was the Prometheus Mission. But in my sequel Weylands Operation Rook was activated at the end... which would have lead to Weylands Soul Transcending into the Companies Computer Systems. 

So i look forwards to debating this with you.

Oh my AC sequel, touches upon AI too, but David wishes to Rebuild Civilization and become King, and at the bottom of a great lake was a Mountain, to the side Orchids, but at the bottom we have a Waterfall from the Mountains that pours into the bottom of the Lake...   WALTER (David) Forbids the Colonist from this place, beyond the Waterfall is a Cave, in the Cave a Fruit Tree, with Poisoned Fruit that will kill those who eat from it.   The journey to the Cave is difficult, those who make it and eat the fruit will never leave this place.  Between the Cave and Waterfall, the Waterfall Cascades down into a Cavern, at the end of this Cavern under Ground is a Place of Hell,  a Lair where David has his Eggs.

Those who fall to this place have no way back... But David has a way to go to this place...  David sets up his own Paradise, those who obey him are fine... those who dont do not...  one day someone discovers his Cavern and Horrors and lives to tell the tale.  The Colonist then realize the deception and Horrors, leaving David no Choice but to unleash Hell on them.

To be honest only in the Terminator we see AI wanting to kill humanity, in the Matrix the robots want to use as batteries (however that works?) and in I,Robot Viki tries to SAVE humanity from itself (thus obeying its directive). Their are simply other movies when AI simply wait for Humanity to die off (Spielberg's underrated AI or that crappy Automata). 

For me the Satan parallel was very forced, he hates Humanity but looks like a Handsome human, recites poetry (albeit not understanding it), keeps his fathers name (the signature on his sketches). He only starts his rebellion when he is free ... In many ways these are petty grudges, not the as a hero, as Lucifer was seen by the Romantics. 

This shot is a interesting one and debated a bit prior to AC.

I was not sure it would be the Covenant because i felt the ship appeared to be to Fragile to enter the Planet and Land and take off again, the structure of the ship appeared to not work with this.  I looked at the Covenant Ship as being much thinner than it appeared, like some kind of Grape Vine, where the Grapes are the many Modules attached to the Ship.

I always felt the Lander used to rescue the crew by Tennessee would be used to collect the Modules of the Covenant and take them to the surface where they are assembled like some giant Lego Set.  Essentially those Rooms are attached via Airlocks to the Main Structure of the Covenant but they could be disconnected and assembled on a World thus becoming the Architecture/Outpost and so not requiring them to Assemble a Outpost from Scratch.

THIS is what i pondered we shall see in AC as far as that Shot on the OT.

The other option i thought of was during the rumored flash back scene of Daniels and Jacob, i wondered if Daniels would sit peering through the Window at the Stars, she dreams of the Memories she had, and they end up talking about the Lake, and then we see Daniels drift from this memory and we see the Window with that Lake, then disappear to reveal Stars.

Again.... once the movie came out, this was not the case... but i cant help but wonder if this was the case in a extended scene...

So for now, who knows what this shot was all about.

I think until RS or FOX/Disney say otherwise we just cant be sure..

I think its likely that FOX had put the Project on Hold, thats for sure, if you was in their position after the disappointment of AC you would want to try and figure out what went wrong, release the DVD/Blu-ray with Extras and see how the DVD/Blu-ray sales do and responses to the Extras.

Then you can gauge what needs to be worked on..

If you took this route however of Postpone the Project as far as Practical side, and so still allow for the Plot/Story Phase to be worked on and evolved and wait for the results/feedback of DVD/Blu-ray sales, then by this time surely FOX would have foreknowledge of any Take Over, which would mean they would certainly not take any action forwards regarding a Sequel.

The interesting part is the Auctioning off of what ever they had in storage, if we knew what this was, this could reveal more about the Plans and indeed indicate how CANCELED or not so the Project was.

I think it depends on what Disney feel make $$$$$

I think there is scope for a Alien movie set in the timeline that does not have to affect Alien 3/4 who wants to see Traditional Xenomorphs and Queens over and over? Those who do, well again we can give them this in a Parallel movie.

Alien Resurrection seemed to confirm to us that the only place to obtain the Xenomorph was via Cloning Ripley, which adds to wards why the Company wanted Ripley in Alien 3 and her Sacrifice had put a end to the Xenomorph as far as what could be obtained... at least for hundreds of years.

The Prequels opened up the Door however...  as from these we can obtain the Xenomorph or Similar from.

*LV-223

*Planet 4

*Origae-6 (most likely)

But then we dont know where else we may find them, prior to AC, we had to ask was the Derelict the ONLY ship with that Cargo?  Alien Covenant has likely set up the FACT that the Cargo is a evolution of Davids creations in AC and so Nope... that Cargo is only on that Ship...  HOWEVER we have yet to see how Davids Creations get to LV-426....  do we ASSUME only the ONE Ship was loaded/ended up with Davids Creations?

So its open that another Ship had the Same Cargo.... If not its open that Origae-6 has similar Cargo or prior Version of it,  its certain that Planet 4 has the AC version of it and the Neomorphs.

So yes another ALIEN movie could be made that does not have to discredit the Original Franchise and stays in Canon and not contradicts the Prequels..

ONE PROBLEM... these can not have or be about Ripley, even tying in Ripley connection would just be too Star Wars, even more so if this relative is played by Miss Weaver.

There is and i have said this a few times ONLY ONE real way to bring back Ripley, and not effect the Canon of other movies and work around her AGE, this is a movie set after AR, on Earth, where Ripley 8 starts to Evolve where the Xeno DNA begins to overtake the Human (by Natural Selection) and so Ripley 8  can start to have changes that require different skin tone and mild make up that will COVER her Age, and be explained by the Evolution of her DNA.

Ripley 8 turning Grey like Holloway and then further evolving to gain a elongated head, until she becomes a Hybrid Human/Xenomorph is a way to offer something NEW, while casting Miss Weaver and bringing in the Xenomorph, with AI on Earth and introduce Engineers too.

But i worry and i dont think this would be ideal, we shall get a Ret-con of Alien 3 and 4 and so get a Alien 5 aka Alien 3 reboot and then see Disney churn out another and another until we get a 80 year old Ripley kicking ass using a Powerloader as a Mobility Device.

I think it goes back to touching on the Biblical Themes....

GOD created the Angels, to be sub-servant to never question their place in creation to do Gods work, (we can look at the Angels like Walter)   but God's greatest Creation was one of his Angels, Lucifer was the most Perfect Creation, above the Angels in his Magistracy/Perfection.   Unlike the other Angels, Lucifer grew to acknowledge his Perfection, and began to Question what makes God so much more above the Angles, why do the Angels have to Follow the Path that God laid down, their was much more to them than what Lucifer felt was limitations imposed.    So Lucifer begins to see himself, just as David does with Weyland.

He rebels against GOD, and although he manages to get a 3rd of Angels to follow him, he loses a War with GOD and is Cast Out...

God then creates Adam, who God calls Perfect, this is Gods newest Creation, a Creation who will follow Gods will and Orders, a creation without the Flaws that Lucifer had,  God sees Man as being his greatest creation and one that his Angels will watch over and serve..    Meanwhile Lucifer, now Satan refuses to accept Adam/Man as the Perfect Creation, he sees himself as Superior.

Adam serves God, does not Question God, but Adam is alone.... God then makes a great Hubris Error, he fashions from Adam (not GOD) a Female Eve, and while Adam is Loyal to God and only obeys GOD, Eve has to Obey and be Loyal to Adam... but also GOD.   They both go around living Gods Purpose, tending to the Land and obeying Gods every command.

They are free to do what they wish, but they are FORBIDDEN from eating the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.

Lucifer now Satan is jealous of Mankind, he has a hatred for GOD and how Satan was cast out and could not overthrow GOD, this Once Mighty and High of all Highs in Gods creation, now cast out and replaced by ADAM.  So Satan, tempts Eve to Eat from the Fruit, playing on her insecurities because while She Adores ADAM and puts Adam first, Adam puts GOD First.     So Eve Eats the Fruit and her Eyes are opened, she has Knowledge she has if you would become what David is compared to Walter.

Adam knows what she did, and Adam does indeed Love Eve, and he cant Face a Life on his own without her and so he chooses to Eat the Fruit so he may be with Eve.   They are now Cursed and Disobeyed GOD and are Cast Out.

The point i am making here is the Theme is KNOWLEDGE in context of the Bible, the Angels, Adam all perform a task for GOD, following Gods set Programing without Question.  Lucifer was given more Freedom in his Programing, that allowed him to evolve in how he views himself. 

A Robot is a Robot, it may advance but it will be controlled by a set of commands and Programing... but the big FEAR is if AI evolves to far, so that it can start to Re-program itself, think for itself, be as Lucifer was.  Once AI Evolves to be sentient it will maybe no longer see why it has to obey Mankind...  This could lead to what we see in I-Robot, in Terminator and the Matrix...

But also its a expansion of how Mankind was intended to follow GOD, but how we revolted against GOD, so its the same THEME and this Theme no doubt applies to Engineers/Mankind but maybe also above the Engineers. Its these Philosophical themes RS wishes to expand on.

But set in the ALIEN universe, that for many fans, exploring these things are stepping away from what made the ALIEN Franchise which was the Xenomorph  but RS ideas and plans are to explore the Space Jockey Race and Agenda... of which that CARGO is just a Bio-Logical Weapon intended to dispose of those who oppose to the Engineers.  Thus it is just a small part in the bigger picture..

RS felt that exploring the Bigger Picture is what was needed, but in error he tried to steer to much away from the Xenomorph which is what many Fans associate the movie Franchise about.

Sorry ... I still don't know why any creator would want make himself obsolete by creating the perfect organism (whatever that means). Or is David really that moronic that he does not see the contradiction there? In an infinite universe to discover, mad scientist robots are really an idiotic idea.

I think the Problems all come from how they tackle a Prequel...

Lets look at the Franchise,  we arrive at the Nostromo being rerouted to check out  a Signal, they discover a Alien Ship, with a Alien Pilot, who's Ship has a Alien Cargo.  A crew member is infected with the Cargo, which we can assume was the fate of the Pilot too.

The sequel set 50+ years latter, we discover the WY Company have set up a Colony on the same Moon that the Nostromo had discovered the Alien Parasite, the company loses contact with the colony and Ripley is told about it and off we go,  we discover some Colonist explored the Derelict and brought the Parasite to the Colony which then over took the Colony.  And at the end the Humans win again with Ripley surviving and seeing the Colony Blown up by a Nuclear Explosion.

Then we get the 3rd movie, the Survivors on the Sulaco are ejected out due to a Fire and land on a near by Prison Planet, only Ripley Survives, a Face Hugger infects a Animal and one gets on the loose as the Prisoners and Ripley Fight for Survival, before finding out Ripley is infected with a Queen Xenomorph, the company arrive and wish to take Ripley back but she knows there plans and Kills herself.

I will skip AR because this is where the Franchise suffered, but the idea is the same as the others, The COMPANY wishes to gain and exploit the Xenomorph Parasite and Ripley comes to the Rescue.

In each movie, their is the Agenda of the Company and its Wishes for the Xenomorph and the Great Lengths in disregard for Human Life to Obtain this FOLLY

When tackling a Prequel... maybe this Agenda and what leads to Special Order 937 is something that could have been explored.

The other thing was NO-ONE had ever shown us the Xenomorphs Origin, HOW/WHEN and WHERE was it created,  WHY/WHEN did the Space Jockey have the Egg Cargo and WHERE was he going with it and WHAT was the Purpose

So began the Prequels....  during the stages they decided its just as important to cover who the SPACE JOCKEY was, we have seen the Xenomorph over and over including the AVP movies but NO-ONE covered the Space Jockey.

So a Plan was made a Plot, a Bold and Ambitious one which uncovered the Engineers being a Ancient Humanoid Race who Partake in Genetic Engineering and how they had Engineered Mankind, a Plot that brought with it Philosophical and Religious/Mythical Questions about Creation.   Maybe  ERROR in Hindsight? But it certainly opened doors, and also allowed for the History of Weyland and AI to be connected to these  Philosophical ideas.

But what role was the Xenomorph?  a Engineered Bio-Weapon created to Eradicate Wayward Creation, and so the Evolution of Alien Engineers to Prometheus was to conclude that the Xenomorph was a Bi-Product or even Origin to the Engineers Evil Biological Warfare...   The Xenomorph/Black Goo to the Engineers is no more than Nuclear Revolution that leads to Atomic Warfare or discovery of Gunpowder that  leaves to the Evolution of various Weapons of Warfare.

The Question was not so much WHAT the Xenomorph was but WHY and WHY was it created and so Prometheus left us mild hints via connection to LV-223 the Black Goo but the MAIN point was the WHY

But Fans did not like Prometheus in masses so FOX felt, and seeing Blomkamps Alien 5 getting a interest they felt they had to Answer or start to Answer the events that lead from LV-223 to the Derelict on LV-426, while showing us HOW the Xenomorph was created, and WHEN and WHERE Themes that RS felt did not need to be answered in Prometheus and that bigger things could be explored as they moved away from Alien, while leaving those clues for us to try and connect those dots ( Which RS then commented on and GAVE the Space Jockey Answer).

But having FOX cave in and wish to ANSWER the WHEN/WHERE/HOW and lead up to the Back Door of Alien,  and bringing the Xenomorph back in and actually now moving towards Alien as opposed to away.

It appears RS, wanted to throw a Curveball to the THING that he always wanted to explore, which was the WHY only in doing so, he felt that David being the Creator would be a interesting Curve-ball and thus would follow on the Philosophy of Creator, creates, Creation Rebels and Sub-creates  and the Hubris of the Engineers Creating Mankind, and Failing to Eradicate us before their Fears would come true... indeed there Fears did come true... and our Folly for trying to Mimic the Gods and Create David provided also to be our Hubris and so REVEAL David had Created IT.

This Logically has to now follow that Davids Creation either Turns on Him and gets out of Control, or those above the Engineers witness Davids Creation and look on in high regard for Davids Achievements and seek to take Davids Creation to Engineer themselves.  Either way providing to be their Downfall.

The Company then in the Franchise, choose to Pursue this Folly but always Failing... we have to ask WHY? and i think a reveal Curveball regarding AI's role in terms of who is pulling the strings would have been that Answer.

Really? Sorry to hear that. I really liked how they conclude episode 1, without AI wanting to dominate in an infinite universe, but get the f**k out of conflict... how refreshing...

red0guy A good story that doesnt involve David. I won't be the one to send ambivalent messages. The cons of David are much bigger than his pros in the franchise. I am 100% not interested in AI in the same way I am not interested in time travel. I am all into alien encounters, alien civiisations, technologies philosophy and mythology etc I am watching Black Mirror right now... the first 2 episodes are a big let down... I hope it gets better.

You have to look at it from FOX and Ridley Scotts POV..

RS was committed to getting parts of his Plans for the Franchise done, but FOX felt instead of steering away from Alien we have to connect to it, so they had sat down changed things a bit but i feel when they proceeded with AC and Logan/Harper worked on the Drafts, that no soon as this was Finished and Shooting was under way.  I think RS/Logan had sat down and had the idea of where this was going next.

AC was not set up to be a stand alone movie, it was done to set up a 2nd movie and then a 3rd one before we connect to ALIEN, you can be sure they had a good idea of how these next two movies would go, you can be sure that the sequel to AC we have RS/Logan pretty much having a majority of the Plot/Plan down by the time AC was being ready for release.   

The Marketing the Hype, i think FOX felt that they corrected what made Prometheus not do so well, and i think FOX would have felt that AC would at least make back the same % of Prometheus even making more.. I think FOX would have estimated a good $400M+ return.

And you can bet some degree of Pre-planing and Production had been underway certainly during the Marketing for AC, because i think FOX assumed this movie would certainly make AT LEAST the % Profit of Prometheus.   I think we could safely assume they would have liked to see ALIEN Covenant do well, and then have it set up for a sequel to be released in 2019, to coincide with the 40th Anniversary of Alien

Sadly the Box Office and Reception has effected Plans, and you can understand why FOX put stuff on Hold..

Blomkamp would not have started to show off more of his Concepts, if FOX was not being taken over, but with Disney Take Over, i think he now thinks there is a chance Disney could be interested in following on with a Alien 5 instead....  

The BOX office is what caused AC Fate....  if the movie made $450M+  we would get another one, its about the $$$$$ Look at the Last Jedi, if this movie only made 1/3rd of what it has, then it could Force them to rethink the direction for the next movie...  but as it is doing well Financially, they are not going to be too concerned about how the Plot is basically a injustice to the Original series.

Money Matters, and for a Disney owned Alien Franchise, i think Queens, Eggs, Xeno's  Ripleys and Power-loaders are more interesting for them than David and Engineers.

Next Movies in the Franchise?

ALIEN 5 in the year 2020

AVP (reboot) in the year 2022

Maybe a Alien Prequel to tie in Covenant to Alien but expect it to by-pass a lot of what the next movie would have done.

Regarding AI i think its a part of the Universe, the Franchise has many Layers, but Fanboys seem to think its about some Alien Organism, a Mad Company wants to get its hands on and a Female Heroine out to prevent it.

The Evolution of AI is always behind the Scenes, their is a History to why Ash is different to Bishop, which shows that earlier Synthetics become Problematic and Dangerous, Flash Forwards to Alien Resurrection and behind all the Xeno/Company and Ripley elements, we have a Earth in a Dire Condition, a Post War look.  We find out that there are various types of Synthetics, even Synthetics Creating Synthetics and Wars/Conflicts between Synthetics.

In such a Future when Synthetic AI advanced and forms their own separate Cults, Factions and begin Sub-Creating you can only imagine the Horrors that follow, where we have a World of Terminator AI vs Matrix AI...  fighting for control...  Which does not Bold well for Mankind.

This kind of Scenario is what potentially could happen when the Genie is let out of the Bottle (Complex, Evolving AI) and indeed why RS felt AI was more Dangerous.   What many people dont realize with Prometheus is its the same kind of Philosophy.

Creation, the effects when your Creation starts to think for itself and does not see their creators as being significantly above them, Rebellion and then Sub-creating themselves.... 

The story of Mankind Creating Androids or Replicants, who then want to be more than just AI, who see themselves as being treated as equal to Mankind, and then Superior and then latter Sub-creating themselves.  THIS kind of Arc is something likely that did not start with Humans, we was likely not the First Sub-Creation, and so this could also go above and beyond even the Engineers, who knows how many Layers of Creation/Sub-Creation are above Mankind... 

Its not simply just Engineers (GODS) create Mankind, who Created David....  nope the Franchise was showing us that David now wishes to Sub-Create, and there are hints that the Engineers themselves are a Sub-Creation and who knows how many levels of Creation are above them.

A Fascinating Plot and one RS appears he wishes to look at.... 

And so with AI what is AI,  a Robot? a Computer?  Well RS called the Replicants AI and so AI is just Intelligence that is not Naturally Created, which does not mean Computers at all.   If Science throws out the Moral Compass,  we could Genetically Engineer a Human who will have greater immunity to diseases and defeats, who would grow the ideal height and weight, be Handsome/Pretty, inherit Superior Genes not only Psychically but Mentally and Emotionally.

You could Engineer a Human with the physical properties of a Christiano Ronaldo, the looks of a Brad Pitt with the IQ of Stephen Hawking with no Genetic Defects and this Engineered Human is created in a Lab, from a Sperm and Egg Cell and a lot of Genetic/Genome Manipulation and not be Born in the Womb.

Is this a HUMAN? or a AI?  this i feel is what RS is talking about but fans think its going to a David One Man Show, and then more Synthetics turning up... i think not... but i cant rule out the reveal of AI becoming Sentient and infecting Machines much like Dr. Will Caster (Transcendence) and VIKI  (I-Robot) and actually pretty much the Plot i had for my Prometheus 2/3 which revolve around Peter Weylands Operation Rook Project, which shows the TRUE reason for Creation of David, and Ultimately his desperate last attempt to gain Immortality from the Gods, after his attempts Failed... or so they seemed.

But for many the ALIEN Franchise is just about Queens, Eggs and Ripley.

BigDave I think you are right. If AC had been a success, they would have started pre-production pretty soon. It would have been 2 movies practically made back to back, with the same shooting locations, props etc. But AC faltered at the box office, so the production was put on hold. The least AC transnpires into the sequel the better, in my opinion. The new movie need as totally different style, less whimsy with the characters, higher stakes, and specially less of David and more of the ole Alien vibe.

I knew they was replicants, i was just pointing out that in that Shot, they appeared larger but this is likely due to Perspective,  i never thought they was Engineers or any connection lol   HOWEVER i would not be surprised if RS had hidden a Easter Egg hint in how they appeared.

By that it makes me wonder if RS got to explore his idea's especially prior to AC, regarding how the Engineers were Created, the comment where he claims those Planet 4 Engineers are the Original ones, is leading me to think they had Genetically Created a Race in their Image for a Purpose...   much like Weyland Created Synthetic David and Tyrell Biological Replicants

I think and i mentioned this months ago regarding AC sequel, that it could be that the reception of AC would have made FOX have to take a look and assess why AC did not do well, and at this time it is likely the Plot/Draft for the sequel would have at least gone through 1-2 revisions, the process would go through changes and stuff until a Final One came about, but looking at the time-frame we can safely assume the Plot for the Next movie they clearly had it nailed down.

No doubt at this time they would have been looking at getting the sequel out sooner rather than latter, and so no 5 year wait...   It would be likely RS/Logan had a majority of the Plot Worked out no doubt how they would want it to look, and the process would no doubt had been Polishing the Draft, Planning Shooting Locations and Pre-Planning Production at the time of AC release.

With the Disappointment at the BOX Office, would surely have FOX to meet up with RS/Logan between when they are free to look at what let down AC and to consider the Plans for the Sequel as far as do they Proceed or look at what maybe changes would be made.

So in effect, it would have not been a CANCEL but more a Put on HOLD, and Ridley Scotts comments appear they have a Idea, Plot, Concept as far as the Story and how it could look, but at the moment of these comments FOX had likely put the immediate plans on Hold...

What i am saying is it appears during the Post Shooting and Editing of AC, no doubt FOX/RS etc had a Plan of where they will take the next few movies going to link to ALIEN it would appear FOX had Green Lit the Production for a Sequel to begin regarding getting the Story Finished, and then planning Schedules for Ridley Scott etc.   And so no doubt when RS had been conducting Interviews after the release of AC around May-June it would appear they had got far as far as a Draft, and it appeared that they would have estimated Shooting to take place June/July 2018.   And would have been in the Final Processes of Polishing a Draft and sitting down to discuss the look and feel this Draft would be taking.. so the next stages would have been no doubt Pre-Production as far as Concepts, work towards how to begin putting what is in the Story to Screen Psychically.    And for a Movie expected to shoot in the Summer of 2018 then indeed Pre-Production would have been to started in the Autumn

So it appears plans was going ahead..... RS comments suggested this , but then the Drop at the Box Office would no doubt have led FOX to hang on and assess the Total Main World Box Office and Reception and no doubt at this time it would be likely FOX put it on HOLD but not CANCELED

So as far as the Carl Braga goes, it could appear that he may have been asked to take part or knew someone who would have taken part in Pre-Production, but due to the reception of AC no doubt that FOX had Cancelled that Planned Pre-Production. 

We dont know what was in the Warehouse, but for them to apparently sell up around September, would be a bit rash and could be seen as a Total Cancellation... but to me it would be more likely a case of the Project being put on HOLD indefinitely and so any limited work done or equipment to be Auctioned off is possible and would have to mean IF THIS IS TRUE that FOX would have no Plans to Produce the Movie  within the next 6 Months.

Another thing is the Disney Take over, this does not just Come out of the Blue.... so there is a chance that after the Summer, those at FOX would know of the potential for a Sale... if this is the case and looking how disappointing AC was... then surely they would not want to begin Production on a Movie that could be Canceled or require a Change of Direction while they have invested Time and Money in Part Production.

As far as Blomkamp... he has used this time to Tease his Works again, in the hope Disney could consider his route, which fits right up Disneys Alley....

So our Franchise is not Dead.... but expect it to become a PG-13 Fanboys Flick.

Shame that some people can not debate or even respect other peoples opinions no matter how different they are, One reason i never Register to AVPGalaxy site, as there seems to be much more School Play Ground Vibe.  The Demographic also appears more Fanboy related, and while the Website does have many Scoops and is a good source for breaking News i feel some of them like to Blow-Their Own Trumpets a bit.

Who knows Chris some of it does seem to add up, some of it a bit different but the Source was ambiguous with what they said so that there was no clear answers but points we have to connect ourselves.   Much like the TWO monsters, they never came and said like..  "we got this one Monster thats like a Xenomorph, but with a elongated head like the Necronom 4 and Ultramorph and David created it"   and then " oh and we got another that has a shorter bulbous head thats transparent and David did not create it"

A area the person was a bit confused who passed information had added.

*They think it was mentioned one had a Tail the other did not, but could be the one had a Xenomorph Tail and the other did not meaning a different one.

So thats how their clues was, and so it was down to us to think ok so what applies to which monster, i guess because this way they are never describing any one Monster, but other clues to other things are described in similar fashion.

As far as the Pathogenic Organism Origin, there are some signs of what they describe in these concepts, including those Worm Thingys, they are pretty much exactly as described to me.

so its a case of who knows...  only when more Concept comes out or the drafts are leaked will we know for sure, but these concepts and those unused Matt Hatton ones do seem to add up to stuff that was said back in February 2015

Sorry but I do think AI is viable if it is done truly smart and with a lower budget (say 50 mil). Have you seen the latest Black Mirror season (the 4th that is)? The best and the third best episodes are about AI and simulation.  Ex machina fared rather well on a small budget...

The killer Robot trope should go however, it is already very old.
