Well i think the Problem arises from the Evolution of the Xenomorph from its beginnings in Starbeast to what we have now...

We have to ASK if the Xenomorph is purely a Weapon, or a Organism that has the potential to be used as a Weapon and what the Xenomorphs Objective is,  in Alien we see it was just killing everyone, but the DC shows it was Procreating (Egg Morph)  Aliens seemed to paint them as a Organism that could be used as a Invasive Species who just Survive/Procreate and the way they do this would mean they could be used as some kind of Pesticide well they would kill off a Worlds Inhabitants.

I think we need to hope they have a IDEA regarding the Biology of the Xenomorph, i think maybe they require FOOD/Hosts is because they need Genetic Material in Order to Procreate?  Maybe?

Regarding the Deacon it depends how close is this to our Xenomorphs, it appeared to Biological, and so it would maybe have some way/need to Procreate and it would need some kind of Energy.

But we dont know how they are exploring the Xenomorph and Related Pathogen as far as how the Organisms created from it function...   some clues/comments sugest the Black Goo maybe ends up eventually reducing infected Organisms into either NOTHING or more of the Pathogen or maybe even something else.

I guess it depends on what the Deacons Purpose would be?  And if it has a limited Life-Span, the Fire and Stone Comics showed eventually the Deacon just went into a Temple Mound and became part of the Temple/Complex which was revealed as being ALIVE and growing.

Of course we cant take Fire and Stone as Canon though.

I think this shows that we really have to Question the Direction RS is taking or those behind the Scenes as this Interview seems to be YET AGAIN another Change of Plan/Back Tracking.. do they ever know what they are doing? Is there a Plan? Because at times it appears to be a Make-it up as you go along.

HOWEVER...

I will just answer the Star Wars/Star Trek references...

Is/Can the Xenomorph be as big as those Franchises...? The Answer is NO... yes you can evolve the Beast, otherwise we could just get them being a cross between Jason in Space, or Star Ship Troopers.

But even when we look at the Xenomorph in AC, in Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien R, then even throw some variations like the Deacon and Neomorphs... while you can extend the Beast by having it appear different, even this would get Stale down the line.. i can see only a 3-4 movies with different kinds of Xenomorph before it likely gets Boring...

PROMETHEUS however opened up the Door to a Potential  Star Wars/Star Trek by virtue of indicating the Engineers are Genetic Space Gardeners and leaving us to ponder are WE the only Humanoid Race they Created and who created the Engineers... there is a Potential to Introduce many different kinds of Alien Organisms, and not all have to be Xeno related... but their is a greater Potential for Exploring the Engineers History and History of Creation within our Galaxy and Beyond..

Are we ALONE? apart from Engineers and Xenomorphs... and the Scope Prometheus set up was that its very POSSIBLE the Variety of Worlds and Life in the Galaxy is HUGE  The Engineers Plot, opens the Door to explore a Universe more in Tone with Star Wars and Star Trek and if done in a more Darker way, it could be a interesting Expanded Universe.

Well the AVP Movie Franchise had GREAT Potential as far as Fan Service and Cash Generating Cow.

There are various Games and Comics that Inspiration could have been taken from, and somewhere a decent Script could have been made, that while being a Pop-corn flick most likely, it could have worked if they stuck more to the AVP Games/Comics Universe.

Instead of the Plot/Story we got for AVP being set in the year 2004 and the whole Ancient Gods who use Mankind to Host Xenomorphs for Hunting BS Plot.

So i think there is a very good possibility of a AVP Re-boot being set in the similar Time-line of the Alien Franchise like the majority of  Games/Comics

Indeed some good points there, i think it is very interesting regarding RS mentioning this Scene was not in the Draft, and you can see why it was added to avoid the same kinds of complaints Prometheus had regarding the Dead Engineers and we only being shown the Hologram Ghost Engineer running to get to the Big Head/Ampoule Room.

I agree sherris maybe RS had done this for a reason, because he had called these beings the Original Engineers and by the notion of this comment the LV-223 Engineers are thus either a Latter More Evolved Species, or they are not Engineers or they are the same but its just a Oversight.

But when we look at RS and his comment regarding the Engineers ARE-NOT a Race but a CIVILIZATION and other comments including those made at the time of Prometheus (i DID-NOT want to meet GOD in the first movie, but David and Shaw would meet these beings who are not Gods in the Traditional Sense)

Then i think indeed it could be that there is a difference between them, which can make us ponder are those LV-223 Engineers some of these Engineers who had Genetically Evolved/Engineered themselves... or are they a Sub-Creation that are Genetically Engineered and thus similar to Replicants in Bladerunner.

Hopefully we can see what the connection/differences are and WHY in future movies.

Indeed we was shown that David was most likely a David 8 Model...

The now taken down Weyland-Industries Viral Site indicated that the first DAVID was created in the year 2025 and so when Peter Weyland was 35 years old (using the sites back ground about Weyland being born in 1990).

The Marketing site then covered Generations of David, right up until the Pre-Orders of David 8

When we saw the Trailers to AC we see that Guy Pearce in the Trailer appeared to be older than 35 and would have passed for a Weyland in his Mid 40's to early 50's and so if we look at a age of 45 for Peter Weyland in the Trailers/Movie, this would indeed mean David was 80  years old.

When discussing this prior to AC release, i did mention it would be likely that the Prototype Models of each New Series could be Weylands Personnel David, it appeared in Prometheus there was a close Bond, David thinks of Weyland as his Father and Weyland even said David was the closest he ever had to a Son.   This does not make sense if David was not every old at the time of Prometheus.

It makes Perfect sense if after each Prototype Weyland Transferred the Memories and Experiences of the previous Prototype Model to the Prototype of the Newer Models.  It makes more sense that Weyland would take the Newest Technological Improvements with him on the Prometheus mission, as that Mission they attempted to have the best of what they had as far as Technology and so why would you take a much older Synthetic.. unless you had some Emotional Attachment and History with it.

The Transfer of in effect Davids Soul, model to model, Makes Perfect Sense, to both Weyland wanting the David who he was more emotionally/historically attached too, yet having the latest Model too.

I thoughts THIS was what was happening, in part because it made sense and in part because it was what i was working with as for a Major Plot of my Prometheus 2 i was working on late 2013/early 2014

Once i saw the movie, then this Theory made more Sense, as the other Option was Weyland took his First David model with him on Prometheus, despite the advancements of later models...   Also when looking at Peter Weyland in AC and how to me he looked between 45-55 this age would place Weyland in the Ball Park of either the David 3/4 Models in the Weyland Marketing Website for Prometheus... where it was described that these Models were the ones that had began Tests on Interaction with Humans.

This thought i had, was prior to seeing AC and and after seeing AC this seemed to not add up with David 3/4 based purely on David choosing his name after the Michaelangelo's statue of David.

So the only CONCLUSION i can have now, is they are Re-writing some of the History set up as far as the Viral Marketing for Prometheus and so now it could appear David was created around the year 2035 instead of 2025

This does not rule out the theory that Davids Soul gets transferred to Newer Models, and i actually feel we will see David Transfer his Soul into a Walter Model he builds from parts on the Covenant.

Those kinds of theories have been debated on here before, and they are something you cant rule out, especially considering the Codes David used with M.U.T.H.E.R it is possible David as Walter programed some New Directives into M.U.T.H.E.R that he latter activated, but we also cant guarantee this happened and so that leaves us wondering if the explanation above is not what happened, then how did M.U.T.H.E.R recognize Davids Commands? 

When i debated this before (prior to the Additional Advent Scenes) i thought such could we rule out the Company indeed being in the know all this time? But the Advent Scene would indicate maybe not.. but prior when i debated this and thought OK so what if the Company was aware of Davids Location and its mission was purely to end up where David was and all along its been a complete Set-Up, this could back up ALIEN and the reason for ASH and Special Order 937

But then i asked, why would the company be so willing to invest all that money and send those Colonist to their Deaths, surely there are other ways to obtain Davids Experiments... why would they send Colonist to be used by David?  If they really was in the know and hence Davids CODES.. why would a company be so CRUEL and see Humans as Expendable.

It just all seemed a bit ODD but something we cant rule out... as we have Special Order 937 and then we have Hadleys Hope, but was the company all along willing to Sacrifice Countless Human's for his pursuit of Davids Creation?    Again..... MAYBE?

But back then (prior to DVD Extras Advent etc) i thought while we have to Question a Company being so Sinister but yet cant rule it out.... i thought HOWEVER if the Company is Infiltrated/Ran by AI  then the Agenda to use Humans as merely Pawns makes much more sense...

So having AI running things, without Mankind being aware is something we cant rule out, and especially in light of Ridley Scotts comments about how the next movie will focus on AI

I have covered similar a few times, particularly the 18 year Time-Frame which when we consider Origae-6 will be about 7 years 4 Months Journey this means no soon as David and the Covenant Ship arrive at Origae-6 it will be 10 years prior to the events of ALIEN

The OT makes some good points as far as seeing connections to Origae-6/LV-426 with a neat little find, and while we cant rule this out, the Problems i see with this depends on what is CANON anymore, the Weyland Viral Site and Marketing connected LV-223 and LV-426 in the same system,  who knows what they plan now, but both Alien and Prometheus the distances are similar and other clues do connect them to being related.

So if Origae-6 is LV-426 then the main Problem is when the Prometheus went out to explore LV-223, how did they miss the fact that near by was a World that is Habitable, also if we are talking the same system, then why would one place be LV-223 the other Origae-6.

The only logical way around this would be that what if LV-223 is Origae-6 and becomes LV-426, so that the aftermath of Prometheus eventually turns LV-223 into a Habitable World that has Plant and Organic Life, this is pretty much the route the FIRE AND STONE comics went and then if they go this route, so that Origae-6 is what becomes of LV-223, then some Tragic Event has to render Oriage-6 to become the Baron World of LV-426.

The Problem with this is time-frame....  Alien Covenants movie/marketing etc indicated that those behind the Covenant Mission had spent 10 years researching Origae-6 for it to be a viable world to colonize, which means it CAN-NOT be LV-223  because well 10 years prior is when the Prometheus was on LV-223, and for the same reason it cant be LV-426 if this is in or near the same system... because this would mean Origae-6 would have been detected on route to LV-223 by the Prometheus and the distance would surely not take the Covenant Ship nearly 9 years to reach unless its Technology was far behind Prometheus.

We have to look at the set up, RS claims the next movie will feature less Xenomorph but be about AI more, and RS also mentions what kind of a World David will build, and future movies will move away from the Xenomorph.   To me this means we will not be going to the Zeta 2 System but we will go to Origae-6 but at some point between Alien Covenant and Alien and so after Alien Awakening we will have to explain HOW/WHEN/WHY Davids Creations end up on a Engineer ship that crash lands in the Zeta 2 System.

No need for time travel. Yes Dallas does mention that it "appears" that the space Jockey is fossilized and that the derelict ship has been there for millennia but they based that on the back that the space jockey was a fossil which was an assumption. In reality now that we know the space jockey was presumably an Engineer in an exskeloten it is possible that the derelict has only been there years or months. From end of Covenant to beginning Alien we have 18 years in which to develop a plot and connection. All signs point to David being comforted by not only the Engineers but the Company seeking to get their hands on his research for Bio Weapons Division in the next installment. More than likely somebody takes off from Origae-6 and ends up crashing on LV-426 or David simply reroutes Covenant to take him back to the Zeta 2 Reticuli system back to where the Engineers have there Weapons Cashes and bases in order to continue is experiments on the colonists. He is clearly able to command M.U.T.H.E.R even identifying as David as seen in the final scene of Covenent. Honestly anything other than that would be an over complication in my opinion.

Weyland did know David was on Planet 4. He sent them a message (as shown in deleted scene in extras on blue ray) telling them all about what happened on Prometheus, what he did to shaw and about his experiments and intentions. The Company obviously wants to get their hands on the Alien for their Bio-Weapons division as we have seen in every Canon movie in the Ripley Saga. Why not work with David (for now) and send the covenant to him so that he can turn them all into aliens which the Company can then take possession of later. No coincidence Covenant was stopped where it was by neutrino burst or that they picked up the transmission of Shaw because (The Company/David) lured them there purposely knowing exactly what Covenant was... the Company probably told him. David is able to take over or best Walter in combat despite the latters "upgrades" because the company told him how and they even secretly programed M.U.T.H.E.R to take commands from David as they knew or at least planned on him taking that mission over. Its all coming full circle with the Company pre Yatani with Peter wanting to meet his maker and live forever to the Weyland-Yatani we know from the original who wants to weaponize the Alien. Lets just hope now that Disney owns 20th Century Fox and thus the Alien franchise we get to see how it all plays out.

Well it is clear that for Sir Scott it does not matter.

It was already stated on an other thread that in the Japanese novelization by Spaiths and Lindelof of Prometheus that David was only a few years old by the time of the mission (a scene was there with his activation). The movie seemed to imply something on the same lines.

Yet covenant appears and retcons him as being of 80 years of age (as Scott said in an interview). So Weyland never in 80 years changed the appearance of their product. You could also argue that robot self was implemented in new bodies, but that was never touched upon in the movies. So they had 70 years to find out that David was insane and they did not, they put him in the same mission on as Weyland himself and after that found that the clients were creeped out by model, and what they do they release the Walter series which looks like the David series but has a different accent and does not have emotions (which they put back in the Ash models and removed in the Bishop models again).

well The David could be a custom model made by Peter Weyland himself but then again Walter did make reference that his model series creeped the humans out

For me there was NO OVERSIGHT. if they needed black eyes they would of had them. just think of the detail in these films.

This means, as suggested - The Engineers 223 , IMO are Geneticaly Enhanced beings. Perhaps even made as clones as the untlimate futuristic designer baby. Possibly made or enhanced by the Elders using technology way past our visions.  Made to be sacrificed when the time is right and a planet is ready for seeding. Maybe only every few thousand years so they do get long lives until it is time to be sacrificed

I pray to God( that is saying a lot coming from an Atheist) with the hope that Disney will follow Ridley Scott vision. I think it would be wise to continue with his vision and add even more new ideas to the franchise. In saying that, I do love the movie Aliens. But I do accept it as canon(no queen). So, I wouldn't be against a split in the franchise. One Aliens style combat movies and the other, hardcore sci-fi themes, a dark artistic environment.

If box office takings are anything to go, I don't think we will see another AVP movie( thank god).

id say regarding the deacon/ xenos, each individual beast will have a short life span yet the goo/ spores remain dormant indefinitely it seems so the threat remains till disturbed. we don't yet have a concrete answer on how long the eggs can remain dormant but id guess theyd be pretty much the same so tho the beast is short lived the threat will always be there

depends on whether the weyland files will be ignored or not. we have to return to that system to tie the derelict on lv426 into the prequels. either we return to the lv223 facility for more goo or there is a signal emitting from lv426 as stated in those files and David is aware of it

i don't bother with any of these sites tbh. if I like a film or I wanna watch a film, it doesn't matter to me what 'expert' (what does that even mean anyway?how does one become an 'expert'?) reviews say. plus u can have 2 different sites claiming to use the same source matter yet their top 10 differs

I dunno, I 'm not a makeup artist. From what we've heard, Ridley Scott said that the flashback sequence involving the engineers wasn't originally in the script, they filmed it because Ridley felt they needed to answer what exactly happened to those engineers, how and who did it because a lot of people complained about what happened to the engineers on LV-223 because despite the film giving hints it wasn't really clear. Different makeup was either because of budget or on purpose to show they are a different class of engineers.

red0guy I know you have to take the imdb gradings and scores with a grain of salt. And we know that Interstellar ranks so high because Christopher Nolan has a huge fanbase. But up to this point I knew what to expect from the website, I hope it does not become just a silly phone app.

I also said that it is very annoying as I used to read the newest comments and now I can't. But you exaggerate with the top 250 movies, as the grading system is already flawed. Interstellar the best Sci-fi ever? that is a joke.

The way they score is computed is also interesting. You must understand that with very many votes the IMDB score should be the more or less the same with the average rate of the movie. but for star wars is 7.7 instead of the 7.3 average (so many bad scores were discarded, with 200k votes this being very fishy, as grade should be already in a normal distribution, statistically speaking and the average should describe the product better) and Bright is at 6.7 instead of the  7.2 average (this time good grades are removed, but the sample size is much smaller of about 22k, so maybe the discrepancy is justified, but still rather big).

Yes I want those tools back, but I don't see how the removal of those could affect how correct movies are perceived.

IRaptus It really is a bloody outrage. It's really bad to see things you took for granted go down the drain. If they keep things as they are right now, I think many users are going to stop using the website, and it will be more polarized. Eventually even the current movies on the Top 250 are going to be replaced by films that are not necessarily good and not voted based on their quality, but more out of fanatism.

It's rather annoyed that IMDB filters were removed from the UI (but judging from the URL it is still there on the back end), but please give me a brake with this haters non-sense. Judging by the fact that many praising reviews are pompous words more akin to pr than to genuine people, I think that those "haters" are real people expressing real dissatisfaction with the movie. Should they be objective, of course NOT, it's not their job.
