Neurion, Hey Bud long time no see. They do look really similar but there are no plug holes in the angelic script just circles and none that are alone or in a group of other circles. On a funny note where the hell did you get the gif of the chick riding the pony? She's too hot for you old ugly mug. Rick

@Shambhala, very interesting pics and equally interesting discussion. I responded to a similar post about Sir Ridley's theme of Prometheus, so I'll just paste my reply from that post here too... "Hmm, no matter what your belief is or background, I applaud Sir Ridley for introducing a broader film on the speculation regarding the origin of humankind to the masses of mainstream. Stargate (the movie) hinted at extraterrestrial influence over early humans, but Ridley's film is dealing with a much more darker/detached approach on the speculative origins of human beings. And I'm glad he's the one at the helm because from films of his like Gladiator, Kingdom Of Heaven, American Gangster, and classics like ALIEN and Blade Runner, he's always taken an "it's just a movie" but it has some real notes of subtext in his approach to filming (of course the writers have largely done this, but he's the one that's visualized it). If anyone is to take a facehugger to the chin attempt at tackling the controversial issues surrounding the origins of humankind, I'm happy that it's him! And IMO science fiction is comprised of a substantial amount of reality not realized yet. I think the more interesting reaction, after watching the film, will be the possible philosophical discussions that arise afterward." Again, I'm just happy that Ridley is bringing these types of themes to the masses and what an appropriate year to do so lol. I did want to address the notion that why would an advance culture come here to use "people" labor when they should automated machines to do that sort of work?! It may just be possible that if their culture was truly here to mine gold & diamonds, as has been suggested, that the urgency of their situation led to the means in which they mined for those elements. Or in other words, if they left their home planet under the direst that their entire civilization was facing extinction due to depleted resources, they could have left in such a hurry that all possible technology was placed into locating a suitable planet and successfully completing the interstellar journey. And upon their arrival to that planet they discovered that they could make use of the population that already existed? Yet as with any culture there is going to be those who are with the program and those that aren't. And possibly either a single extraterrestrial or a sector of extraterrestrials decided that to conduct genetic experiments with the primitive population would advance the primitives? Where as another faction of the extraterrestrials were fine with genetically altering the natives and wanted the primitives to have a little push in evolution? This might very well be where the story of God versus the Devil originated from? And if I offend or disturb anyone's belief system I don't mean to, I'm just speculating and what I'm saying is pure conjecture at this point. But maybe this Lucifer character and his faction were angry that the others would even suggest purposely evolving the natives and a war broke out over that debate? It does appear as more questions are raised about our true origin and as more possible clues are discovered/interpreted in regards to our origin that the "God" faction won, and we were evolved in their image. While the Lucifer faction lost the debate/war and were kicked out the club so to say lol. Again, I mean no offense to anyone's belief, I'm just throwing S@#$% against the wall to see what will stick and create more debating for us as we wait, like a little kid that has to pee on a road trip, for Ridley to entertain us with Prometheus!

@NineteenHundred, it's not even ironic that your thought process would be so... nineteenth century. I'm not suggesting that I'm 100 percent on board with the ancient alien astronaut thing, but I'll go as far as 50/50 with the theory. If one were to do the math there's a 50/50 chance that the theory has some real merit behind it. The city of Troy was thought a myth until archeologist discovered that Troy was both a factual city and a city of the legend. When I saw the Terminator for the first time it all seemed so improvable until Boston Dynamics made Petman for DARPA lol. And I'm not extrapolating that Petman is a T-800 or even T-600 for that matter but in 5 more years who can say. The closest thing to Hunter Killers are being used overseas and will soon be integrated into our society, they're called "drone planes"! Before you dismiss sci-fiction as Han Solo did the force, "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid," read up on the amazing new advancements happening every day!

In my view, everybody in 'Alien' -Dallas, Parker, etc. - were heroes. It was just that only one hero (or heroine in this case) survived. Dallas and Parker died standing up to the creature.

Well folks once again let me elaborate my thought. When I said detachable genitals I meant a life form that may procreate by seeding a host or itself is capable of bonding to a host the create a new evolution. The xeno may have no part in what a sj or engineer is, was, or will be. Or as suggested the xeno may be simple a malevolent mutation caused by human dna. I think the twisted aspects hinted consist more than violent procreation, but also the manipulation of species(no pun intended) by the engineers/sj. I hate to say this, but I think there will be strong similarities between the PROMETHEUS and Star Gate stories. Instead of sending back the bomb with the alien mineral, it will be sending a biological bomb to earth in human corporate package. I just want to see something more thought provoking than the Xeno, and more than SIL. Whether or not, it breeds by pure science, detachable genitals, ovum or multi organism gestation process! I want it to to be twisted, and make viewers for most part unsettled when leaving the cinema! =))

Yeah it was off topic lol! I am getting a kick out of the detachible genitalia (I'm sure I spelled that wrong) idea. But I will roll with it. Giger is one hell of an artist. I have had very in depth conversations with my bestfriend about giger and his works. We are both really big fans of giger. I would love to see more of his work brought to life on the silver screen, and this film is definatly looking like it will showcase alot more. I personally am very happy that after all the crap that giger has gone through with hollywood, that he is still willing to put into it. And very grateful that Giger and Scott have maintained a relationship enough for him to be brought on board this project too. So let's raise whatever glass we have; whethere it be of pop, coffee, water, booze, juice (mine is coffee) and drink one to Hans Rudolf "Ruedi" Giger!

Lets clear up up the detachable concept so not to insult the intelligence of the original alien concept. What I am suggesting is the familiar impregnation of the host may be done in a way that seems more closer to earthly creatures. By a means more akin to torture sex more so than ye ol' facehugger. They are alien after all, but may be similar in a way unexpected by Shaw most of all. Most new discussions have dismissed the notion of the xeno as a weapon concept, because of the idea of the progenitor being this larger but not as fierce creature. So the SJ/Engineers have to take on the sinister mantle. If the darker art of Hans Rudy Giger will be coming alive, we should expect beings of horrific, sexual, and unexplainable purpose; would explain the idea that science and faith will come under heavy questioning from the crew. Hopefully PROMETHEUS will answer some questions but open us to new questions and more malevolent beings. The xeno's lust for the kill, may dwarfed by the actions of the Engineers/SJ. June is too far away.

After reading some of the highly detailed theories here, I'm sometimes left wondering if us fans are putting more thought into this than Scott himself. I'd like to think that nearly every little discrepancy will be explained but then again, maybe not.

The terrain is completely different, the sky is significantly brighter in the "Prometheus" external shots than it ever was in "Alien." The pad on which the "telescope" rests, is larger on the "Prometheus" set, the ribbed structure of the surrounding walls is quite different, beyond mere surface treatment, and there are pods which weren't present on the derelict. Simple "artistic license?" No, if Scott is trying to pass off this vessel as the same one we saw in "Alien," my personal BS meter will blow a fuse. I think the clear, obvious differences can best be explained by concluding that it's a different ship.

Time travel sucks, so does the idea. I have already taken June 8 off because I plan to see this movie. If time travel is used to "explain" anything from Alien I willget up and walk out of the theatre. As much as I am dying to piece together Prometheus and Alien and know of the SJ race, I cannot accept time travel as a "scapegoat" conclusion. There are different worlds, as evidence of the trailer. There are different ships, none of which are on LV426 as evidence of the trailer. My assumption is that the world where the Prometheus crew can take off their helmetsv and breathe the air is a beginning... it will lead them to a world where the must wear their suits.... as evidenced by the trailer. LV 426 may come in at the end of the movie, possibly where that ship is crashing from the sky. But from the trailer, as many times as i've watched it, there is no evidence that any of the main events take place there.

I would also add that Alien may be 33 years old as a screenplay, but it is timeless in its story and nothing can compare. It's still the first movie I think of when theres nothing else to watch.. has anyone ever noticed the scene with lambert and parker going to collect coolant and the alien is there, seen, even before they get to the coolant locker?

On Fassbender himself - personally I really rate the guy as an actor. He is extremely versatile and I have enjoyed his performances in many films ( Hunger and Inglourious B***ards in particular). Regarding his character, he has already stated that he based David on Blade Runner more than any of the synthetics from the Alien franchise, he also modelled the character's physicality on Greg Louganis, bizarrley enough. Therefore I expect a performance with a) very correct posture and b) A detached and intriguing personality type, similar IMO to Rachel (Blade Runner) I also expect a sinister turn of events in David's character and I am sure Fassbeneder will do this very well.

Both him and Pearce can play everything ...from the hero to the evil guy to the android ...everything . Actors like that are rare..often famous actors like Bale , Crowe , Depp plays always the good guy ( and on the long run they are predicable ) but Fassbender have chosen to be different and i like that choice .

Ueah, it will probably be a lot like Bladr Runner, and it's cool becausr Noomi, Michael, and Charlize are all versatile so it should be interesting to see how the characters act, and if they are as complex as Noomi Rapace says in interviews.

Ridley Scott has only said he's interested in doing another one. Not that there definitely will be one. "Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups" I think that's a quote from the bad guy in Under Siege 2. And I think it's a pretty good one. Never assume anything, in my opinion.

@PrometheusForTheWin, where did you get the idea that this movie was Sigourney Weaver's idea? It wasn't, she just suggested that if Ridley did something like this that he make it on the Alien's homeworld....... Far as I know the idea has been kicking around since the late 90's............ Just curious is all, I know she likes to think of the Alien franchise as Ripley's and Ripley's alone (at least that's how it seems to me sometimes........)

It was in an interview that she suggested the idea for the movie to Ridley and said he should elborate on her plan, as she is not a director. I dunno if I would like if the movie ended in an obvious sequel, it was just an idea about whether it would be good.

@ Prometheusforthewin yeah i know about the interview.....but their was no mention of Weaver in your thread... Anyway....nevermind....to return to your topic......their definately will be a follow up....as long as this first Prometheus does well at the box office.....I mean their almost always is a sequel or prequel!....lets just hope that ridley keeps his creative vision and forces it upon the next director....assuming afcause that he does not direct it himself!

I can't agree with this notion that 'Prometheus' was Sigourney Weaver's idea....in every interview on the topic, she refers to going back to the planet of origin to "wipe them out at the source"...............she's talikng about another xeno movie with Ripley leading the charge, the cause, whatever...pulse rifle in hand, so to speak. 'Prometheus' is another story entirely. The focus is different...the SpaceJockey race. The chronology is different. The whole point of the thing is different.

Lol sorry should have clarified I spotted a status update PrometheusForTheWin had up earlier..... that's what I was referencing :-P @juxtapose..... "Assumption is the mother of all fuckups" it was the first time I'd heard it and it stuck with me ever since. That was the only reason I mentioned Under Siege 2. The first one was better :-D @craigamore yeah Sigourney Weaver pisses me off sometimes. I'm pretty sure you're right, and I think Ridley took that idea and went a different direction with it. I heard that she tried to block any movie being made regarding the Aliens if Ripley wasn't involved. If Ripley had died at the start of Alien 3 and Hicks and Newt had survived instead, I reckon it could have been a far better movie. She's a good actress, but has her head up her arse.

"Prometheus" is my most highly anticipated movie in a very long time, because I think Scott still has the dark, sci-fi chops he brought to the original "Alien" and "Bladerunner." I'm expecting an inky black yang bookend for Kubrick's much lighter"2001" -God was an alien- yin.

Got to agree with you craigamore, I really really really want to see some of the creatures that will feature in this, and I'm not talking about the blue guy in the trailer. I really think there will be a few different types of creature in this. I have a feeling that the "white worm" we've all seen is actually a tentacle on something HUGE. For 6 months before Cloverfield came out I was SCOURING the net looking for a picture of it's creature. And ended up disappointed by what I saw. It's all about the creatures for me to be honest, I hope they are truly alien-esque. Something that will actually scare me. I don't get frightened easily at all. Like, something we would not ever want to meet in a dark alley. Without a flamethrower, that is. If this movie makes me jump, I'll be happy, and it'll be a very rare thing. I was 6 when I saw Bishop get dismembered by the Queen. I'd walked into the loungeroom for some reason and that was where the movie was up to (it had just been released on VHS) I turned around and said to my mum, "Is that supposed to be scary?" She was stunned. After she got over being scared herself that is :-P
