i saw that clip Spartacus. so there is definitely more to Lambert's
death then what was shown. at least in theory anyway. we'll never really know
the one thing that really surprised me,
was to find out that Sigourney Weaver thought of the ALIEN creature
design as sexy and elegant. it just never occurred to me that she would
understand the strange beauty in Giger's design. i was glad to know she
thinks outside of the box in that regard

Wasn't Brett the one being morphed into the egg in a deleted scene? Lambert was the only one we didn't see get killed and we know he was still alive near the end (in the deleted scene) So maybe the Xeno just kills all but one, using it kills as food or for egg morphing (could more than one corpse be used for egg morphing?) and keeps one alive for the facehugger from morphed egg. On the other hand, the Xeno could be mashing heads because its after the pineal gland, personally i'd never touch or inhale a pineal gland.
ReplyshardyPrometheus ForumALIEN ATTACKS SPECIFICSJan 25, 2012
@Engineer Prototype - Model GAJ84
i think Brett's looking like an egg was a design choice,
but not really intended to become an actual egg. just my suspicion
the lacing on the arms of Brett's Nostromo jacket lend themselves
to look the the outer arm closures of the facehugger egg,
but i think that was coincidence
after watching ALIEN so m any times, and fixating on Giger's paintings,
the eggs in the egg chamber resemble uncircumcised penises, only with a
crisscross urethral orifice rather than one linear slit like a human penis
perhaps Giger's take on certain types uncut ones?
and, the Nostromo crew investigated the derelict ship at dawn,
so the egg "ejaculating" onto Cain's face was like an early morning load
which in human males, is the time they are most potent
(another Ridley Scott / Giger psychosexual twist?)
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
Good point, and at the same time I wonder if the blood of an Engineer will be as a sort of bioformer. That is to say that the blood of the Gods has some sort of mechanism biomechanoid or nanotechnology which allows you to rearrange or change the DNA of a being live to manipulate it to his own liking and so give life to a new species.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
or also could be acid...especially if we think that the Space Jockey are closely related to the Xenomorphs...
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
I still think the Xeno's are a weapon made by the SJ's! So their acidic blood is obviously another "weapon" feature that the SJ's built into them.
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
Indeed, as said Parker making emphasis in the blood of the facehugger as a magnificent defence mechanism...
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
Exactly! What better to do with a weapon to make it have acidic blood, even upon death it can still kill. . .
Replycentaurian_slugPrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
agree its more likely acid blood is an engineered xeno features, and SJ's may themselves prefer to avoid the inconvenience of occasionally melting razor blades in the morning etc.
ReplyGigerFacePrometheus ForumSpace Jockey's blood?!Jan 25, 2012
@centaurian_slug haha good one! I guess I'm just really curious as to what substance burns the Prometheus crew member and where it came from?! Looks like we will have to wait until June.

i did this and it worked yesterday.
however, today the image no longer worked. I repeated the procedure and it worked again, but with a different URL.
does the hosting site change it's url's periodically?
does the simple original link URL work for anyone?

@ Tetra - 200 x 200, I think
@ Centurian Slug - I've had no problems, maybe best to ask RC8
ReplyChrisPrometheus ForumGetting Your GIFs To DisplayJan 25, 2012
I suggest people make a free account on PhotoBucket, I've always used them and it's very easy to upload and have a direct link to your images.
Once you upload an image to PhotoBucket, under the image you'll have a selection of links to that image, you want "DIRECT LINK" and then post that in your profiles.
I'm noticing some people's pics still aren't displaying. Try this method if you're having problems.
ReplyRipley Clone 8Prometheus ForumGetting Your GIFs To DisplayJan 25, 2012
I can upload everyone's GIF image to Photobucket from now on. The only reason why I opted out to do that is because sometimes Photobucket REALLY shrinks down GIF images sometimes but it shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the suggestion BugHunter!
ReplyshambsPrometheus ForumXeno's/SJ's were created by another. . .Jan 25, 2012
The options I think possible are:
1) If they are biological suits, then the perhaps mutants that have possibly been contaminated by the bioformer are slowly developing a suit of battle which was finished by making biological weapons; the ancestors of the classic xenomorph that we all know.
(2) The Space Jockeys are creations like the xenomorphs. in that case in Prometheus should appear all powerful entities akin to gods and that they have created all the races of the franchise.
(3) The Jockeys created the man and man created the xenomorphs, obviously using the stolen technology to comply with the objectives and ambitions of the weyland Corporation.
ReplyXenophobePrometheus ForumXeno's/SJ's were created by another. . .Jan 25, 2012
Yeah I was gonna touch on the fact that what we think are SJ's could in fact be the species that leads to the original Xenomorphs that we saw in the Alien films. . . The SJ's kinda de-evolve into the Xeno's perhaps.
ReplyRipley Clone 8Prometheus ForumXeno's/SJ's were created by another. . .Jan 25, 2012
What I think is really interesting is the fact that the Space Jockey's not only created one but multiple bio-weapons. So if that's the case than what are those bio-weapons? Are they incredibly more frightening than the xenomorph and how do they destroy life?
Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection is one "string" of the Alien universe. That's "Ripley's" story. But were there any other bio-weapons released by the Space Jockey species that could of destroyed other planets in the same universe? Is the xenomorph really the ONLY threat out there in the vast expanses of space?
Thats where I think in the future of filmmaking, maybe other filmmakers could explore. Expand on the mythos of the Alien universe. With the right directors and filmmakers, I think it could happen. There could be other stories told other than "Ripley's". With new characters, new locations, new planets, a different bio-weapon/threat and a whole different story line.
ReplyGuestPrometheus ForumXeno's/SJ's were created by another. . .Jan 25, 2012
Based on the mythology
Prometheus=Titan=Space Jockey
Zeus=Father of Gods=The figure in the giant statue
Humans=Humans
Urns=Fire/source of life
Pandora=Alien/xenomorph
Titan tricks God into accepting a crappy sacrifice, humans follow suit and makes similar sacrifices. God gets mad and withholds fire and "the means of all life" (the urns in the movie) from humans. Titan steals "urns" (fire and source of life) from God and gives back to humans. As punishment, God gives humans Pandora, camouflaging it as a great gift but turns out to be filled with horror.
Its hard to follow and Scott could go a few different ways, but I think the Space Jockey winds up being the middle man here and a part time ally to humans. The urns wind up being the "fire" stolen and given to humans, and as punishment, the god gives humans maybe the program to create the alien species from the urns. I don't think we'll see a direct interaction between the humans and the god, but something subliminal and maybe the life form in the urns also serves as a method for the god to communicate with the humans...i.e the life form in the urns takes over a human "host" so it can interact with the humans, and trick it into thinking it needs the xeno's to survive.

If the film is shot in genuine 3D, like Avatar and Transformers Dark of the Moon was then it may work. BUT seeing as Prometheus is meant to be a dark horror/sci-fi, I'm not sure hmm. . .
ReplyHukerloverPrometheus ForumTwo D or not Two D that is the questionJan 25, 2012
yes i agree those films do look good in 3d
Have you ever tried watching the Alien films in 3d (with the Samsung tv's you can switch the 2d into 3d mode its not perfect but you do get a sence of depth ect) they do look quite good Aliens looks the best out of the four but there not bad
Ridley would not have used the technology if he didn't think it could work, if the studio said film it in 3d and make it pg13 just to put bums on seats I think Ridley would have said get stuffed he was only ever going to come back to Alien if he could do it his way
ReplyTetraDecoPrometheus ForumTwo D or not Two D that is the questionJan 25, 2012
I'm not yet won over by Real3D. Maybe Ridley Scott can change my mind!
If it is to be believed, Ridley was quoted: "I’ll never work without 3D again, even for small dialogue scenes." Source - http://www.slashfilm.com/ridley-scott-work-3d/
I am still stunned at this comment, and would almost want it to be half serious joke on his part. Or maybe a 3D-pushing financier for Prometheus had a gun concealed to Ridley's back when he was reported to have said this?

Should be 4D where you can feel the heat and the slime and blood when people are over run by the Alien....you will come out of the theater, well, drenched in KY and face blood.

when i read that Ridley was shooting PROMETHEUS in 3D,
i was both excited yet torn at the idea. wearing those 3D glasses
can be annoying, especially if you already were prescription eye
glasses like i do
the only 3D film i've seen in the past 2 years was TRON:Legacy,
the 3D "effect' wasn't too impressive, since that film was formatted
to 3D AFTER the success of Avatar
with that said,
in the previews that ran with the TRON:Legacy 3D film,
there was a film trailer for a nature documentary called "Born to Be Wild",
the opening shot of that trailers shows some Orangutans getting into a lake,
the effect was truly ARRESTING, it really did feel like i was there, the depth
of field perception was totally convincing on film. turns out, that film had
been filmed with James Cameron's WETA / 3D technology, and few films
are granted that prestigious honor. the only other film that i know of that
was allowed that exclusive digital 3D processes was "Resident Evil: Afterlife",
other than that, the list of films allowed to be filmed with WETA's exclusive
process is a short list
i am not sure if Ridley is using the same WETA / 3D process for PROMETHEUS,
but i did read that Scott is in fact using WETA Digital for the CGI FX, so there is
hope that the 3D effect will either match or (hopefully) surpass what Avatar and
Born to Be Wild presented in regards to a convincing 3D visual experience
i can only imagine with heart-pounding enthusiasm, just how "epic"
(sorry, redundant i know) the red lasers, PROMETHEUS craft, and the Engineer's
spacecraft would look on the big screen with such advanced and hi-tech 3D film
process used
DEFINITELY something to look forward to, IF Cameron's much sought after,
and equally exclusive WETA / 3D film process is used for PROMETHEUS
if i am able to, i will watch PROMETHEUS in both 2D and 3D formats
can't wait....

I'm definately not a fan of Real 3D, but I know for sure, unless I'm terribly dissappointed with it (don't really see that happening), that I will see 'Prometheus' in both versions, in part because I'm intrigued at Ridley's apparent faith in the technology and also, because he filmed it that way, it's an intrigal part of how the film is imagined and executed....and that intent ias as important a part of how a movie is put together as any. So I feel I have to give it that chance.
