Well either we DO see some kinda xenomorph queen in this movie or the one that bursts outta SJ in the derelict prior to Alien was a queen chestburster, as proven by the dozens of eggs located in it. . .

Agreed, the giant head doesn't necessarily reveal that the SJ is a humanoid. Also agreed 100% on the cranial suture lines.
There's still so many possibilities since they're connecting this story to the myth in more ways than just the name of the ship. The Titan race should be assisting humanity and the gods punishing the Titan race should be a separate group. Gods have repeatedly punished humans in religious tales too, so that could come later. We know there is at least some Egyptian influence, and possibly Sumerian (where the flood tale appeared); so, I think they could be drawing from a lot of world mythology and UFOlogy to expand the alien universe in a huge way. I'll focus on the Greek for now but mention the equivalents.
In the Greek myths we have the Demi-gods, gods, Titans(Elder Gods), Giants, and a variety of monsters mentioned:
Demi-gods- (mixture of god and human) Tall, pale, & importance of blue can all be related to Egyptian god kings, Olympian gods, Eastern Indian mythology & Krishna, Atlantean legends + many, many races in UFOlogy and alien astronaut theory; fallen angels, Annunaki etc. We may have seen this guy already. These are the emissaries of the gods, the race between man and the "gods" that makes communication with them possible.
the gods- like Zeus they are depicted as human to a degree (these may be an even larger giant humanoid or an otherwise altered Pearce in the movie). Not the blue helper guys. Something we haven't seen yet. These are the same gods who punished Prometheus when he tried to help man, and may be an antagonist in this movie when a Titan does so again. Not the true gods that the Titans formerly were. They fiercely guard the technology stolen from the Elder gods and didn't want other humanoids to have the flame. Humans may give birth to or even become giants, monsters, or demi-gods when their genetics are mixed with these gods. Also, when they interbreed ala Zeus cheating on Rhea with all the mortal women and producing the demi-gods Herakles and Dionysios or some of the other monstrous offspring sometimes produced when higher beings got together with each other and humans. Herakles, a demi-god, frees Prometheus from his bonds so Prometheus can continue to help humanity.
Originally created by the Titans as Earth humans were, gravity was different on their world which produced a different body size. Gaia foretold that this child, Zeus, would eventually dethrone its maker, Kronos (the original GOD JOCKEY from millions of years ago). When the gods interbred with man in the ancient past they begot the smaller giants, the Atlanteans/Nephillim/demi-gods, and took them off Earth along with the Titans representing the end of the war of Titans in the mythology.
I believe all this back-story will be alluded to within the film so that it all matches up with the myths.
The Titan race- also formerly known as the Elder gods in some forms of the myths. The original 6 Elder gods (of which Prometheus isn't a member) were overthrown by the Olympian gods, mainly by Zeus when he castrated Kronos. Somewhat of a subordinate class after the war against the Titans was won by the gods of Mt. Olympus. Comparable to some of the choirs of angels and archangels. In this movie, I will almost guarantee that whatever represents Prometheus (apart from the ship) will be a non-humanoid giant creature.
Monsters & giants/the vulture from the story - Giants are sometimes thought to have been created by the Titans like humans were, according to Greek literature. When Zeus fathers the half-mortal Herakles, Herakles comes out massive in size, human in appearance. Other hybrids are not as lucky and are born as monstrosities. The gods would also sometimes use some sort of a monster to make the lives of the demi-gods/ other gods, mortals, and various other characters more difficult.
I think almost all the beings will use suits and there will be multiple classes, & multiple sizes. The Jockeys are the pilots and remain suited for much of the movie. Demi-gods assist the pilots and act as mechanics for the ship. The non-humanoid reveal will come after we think it's just differing sizes of human giants in the suits. Ridley will continue to play with us even when we see the other, larger giant humanoids. The Pilot race turns out to be incredibly different & attempts to help the humans.
The sub-classes are differing degrees of "giants" in my theory so maybe 2 sizes of god/demi-god, one non-humanoid Jockey class + monsters. The Jockeys are the true ancient seeders of life. The disc in the trailer. The gods just hijacked their tech and used it to appear as gods in the ancient past. That's why I think the Jockey being a slave race idea is true, and why Prometheus is still so willing to help us against the gods.
The "gods" still fiercely guard their tech and humans and the Jockey both suffer the consequences.
An alternate to having the crew literally birth monsters and giants when exposed to the genetics of the gods is the mutation plot-line that's been thrown around.
Maybe it's half and half: producing monsters and mutating into giants.
David is our messenger character Hermes. He may communicate with all the classes/ characters. May also be transformed and given his wings by the gods, becoming a pilot and being able to travel to distant locations to make contact with those worlds.

I like this idea. Remember when that infant alien burst out of Kane's chest, and Ash utters something like "That's Kane's son.." or "Cain's son." The Biblical Cain is the first murderer in recorded human history (OK, I may be wrong about the history part)...well, according to the Hebrew texts anyway. If Xeno takes the biological form of its host, maybe it takes its other more intangible aspect, like personality, soul, predisposition towards violence etc.
ReplyKane77Prometheus ForumIs it possible humans are the real evil of Prometheus?Jan 18, 2012
Aliens was a good film FOR THAT TIME..I mean the 80ies, Reagan, SDI, cold war..Was a fitting interpretation. The designs were also very nice, Prometheus does reference to that.
Yeah, me , too was thinking the JS looked like a fossil, not a suit..and thats a tough one, to get the Prometheus story straight to fit into Alien. There has to be a GOOD explanantion why it doesnt look like in ALIEN...Hope, they dont fuck it up like in THE THING.
Replyazneck1Prometheus ForumIs it possible humans are the real evil of Prometheus?Jan 18, 2012
My best guess on why the SJ in Alien doesn't appear to be wearing a suit is simply because the material deteriorated over the years. Mind you, this all B.S. because Giger's original designs never had any intentions of wearing suits. I'm sure Ridley never dreamt of prequels, etc. while filming the original.
ReplyRickKPrometheus ForumIs it possible humans are the real evil of Prometheus?Jan 18, 2012
My guess is the humans bring whatever trouble they run into in this movie on themselves - by "stealing fire from the gods" or taking some piece of their technlology to use for our own purposes - is when things start to unravel, technology that was probably for benevolent purposes but we screwed things up and turned it into a force of destruction.

@bigbirdjimmy,
Thanks! I've been saying all along there are 2+ Derelict ships. There is another trailer out there that BioMechanic has.. and if you watch that, you will notice that there is a second explosion in addition to the one that we see in the released trailer!
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
Do you guys ever consider the fact that maybe the Egg chamber and the ship are two separate things? The pilot chamber has that Xenomorph biomechanics styling, just like the egg chamber, doesn't mean it is one and the same. The ship may crash on top of the egg chamber (Kane discovers a hole or an opening, rather than a door), and the Xeno may have biologically "infect" the whole ship with its "slime" or "goo." Do you see the deleted cocoon scene of ALIEN? That particular section of Nostromo has Xenomorph/Giger biomechanic styling on the side of wall where the alien cocoon is.
Ship crashes into Xenomorph temple
Xenomorph awakened by impact
Xenomorph crawls out of its hole
Xenomorphs cocoon the whole ship
Space Jockey turned into a host
Nostromo walked into the whole monstrosity
Repeat cycle

That is an interesting theory. But that all seems to random. That means you had one shitty day. Something goes wrong with your ship, darn. Then you crash your ship, god damn. You crash into a Xeno temple, holy shit. You get facehugged, wtf. Then a xeno burst out of your chest, son of a bitch! :) But who knows you cant ever discount anything.
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
Well, in another thread it was argued and shown that if you consider the dimensions of the egg chamber and the overall dimensions of the derelict then, strictly speaking, the two are incompatible, which gives credence to the opinion that we are dealing with separate bodies. However, this is probably a continuity error rather than a deliberate and conscious effort by Ridley to convey two separate bodies - which is a pity because it would, for my theory, go some way in allowing the Alien Derelict to indeed be crashed. However, the SJ cockpit is still orientated parallel to the ground. So unless the SJ cockpit is usually at right-angle (or some acute angle) to the ground in normal landed position (of course trailer refutes this) then my theory (or desire really) for the Prometheus Derelict to be landing is still blown out of the water.

There is an early treatment of the script for ALIEN which has that ship sitting on top of an ancient temple. There is a theory that the ship & the temple is one organic whole (very interesting idea) to draw people for some "crazy-ass shit", and then there is the other theory where the ship is somehow drawn towards the temple by the use of coordinates which the Ancient Terraformers left behind for humans to find. Not random.

i have a fantastic book called gigers alien by titan books london.it charts the entire design of alien as seen through the eyes of giger himself.its full of early sketches of all aspects of the derelict as seen in alien.ive just read through it again and although it never states that the ship has crashed it does show that the designs for its orientation with the surface of lv426 are that of a ship that has merely landed normally.the astronauts climb in through an opening at the foot of the huge vessel at ground level,make their way through a spiralling corridor like the inside of a snail shell and end up in the cockpit which is topped with a large glass dome through which the pilots telescope is pointing.the pilot is 8m(26 ft) tall and they then used children as stated earlier to give the feeling of scale.directly below the pilot through a loose floorboard? is the shaft leading to the eggsilo.also looking at the sketches it is clear that gigers designs for the ship had the hammer heads at the front of the ship and not trailing behind as you might first think.

Does anyone think for a moment that possibly the giant disk we see in the trailer over the waterfall is in fact maybe a landing pad that may be in close proximity, say ... behind the temple. People keep thinking it is another ship or something but i think it is a landing pad. Like a helicopter pad.

@ WalterHiller "it could land in any position, really. even with the tongs facing the ground. in prometheus, it's possible that the upright position is in fact the right position due to the space jokey(s) trying to correct the descent path for it into a soft landing. though i have a strange feeling the front of the ship is the "head" of the compass. and that it flies while dragging the two tails behind it."
I liek your thinking, that would mean that in the trailer we see it crashing, so it must have been leaving the surface, probably with bad intention rather than incoming to the surface.

@danrald and bigbirdjimmy,
Hold on mo guys, not I'm not saying anybody is right or wrong here, I just want to put a thought into your minds;
Now, whilest they could be two different 'derelicts', looking at the mid-air explosion/collision (as again, we don't know for definate what has happened there, it still looks to me as if it has happened to the far side of the far prong - a side none of us have seen in any picture or scene yet. So we do not know the extent of any possible damage from the mid-air incident, yet along at what point in the movie's time line it occurs. My point is seen as how we haven't seen derelict from that side or angle yet, it's anyone's guess and the vessel in Alien could still be the same one in Prometheus, or it might not be.
Isn't speculation fun? Just remember to keep you're minds open to any possibility gang and try not to turn things into arguements. Or, an oppertunity to put someone down - I'll name no names.

ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
@Apollo, have to disagree about the landing pad theory for 2 reasons:
1. The landing pad seems to be moving in the trailer - what purpose does a moving landing pad have? Furthermore, where is it going to land?
2. Usually landing pads satisfy some neccesity to land in a given spot. So the pic you supplied is a pad on top of a building, which is fair. But why would there be a neccesity to land on top of a waterfall? What's wrong with the firm ground a few feet away from the perillous drop?
In any case, I like your thinking out-of-the-box, keep it coming.

Yes it is just a hypothesis to fill in a hole and explain the sequence of events. And it is fun! lol. But someone else is right about the ship landing on top of some "egg production" plant. The egg chamber under the derelict looks to big to be in the ship..
ReplyApolloPrometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
@ Starbeast ... Well i didnt think it looked like it was moving the landing pad but maybe my eyes decieve me. However it may the perfect place for a landing pad. Inside the temple they are not just tunnels but look more like large caverns possibly, then basically refurbished by the jockeys, just as we have done throughout history. If they are natural caverns and tunnels which by the way in the trailer and some pics it does clearly look like they go down some strangely possibly naturally shaped tunnels. If this is the case it would make perfect sense that it is next to a waterfall as the water/ river whatever would in time have carved a cave system. Perhaps this temple, is an underground base/bunker/alien lab or anything rebel hidehout possibly. Dont just dismiss this theory yet. What else could that disk possibly be, it baffles me a lot but this is all i could come up with.
ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
Yep point taken; we know very little about the waterfall scene, and I certainly haven't seen any discussions about whether the waterfall is an extension of the chambers we already know about. For it to be in the trailer, it must be of some significance, imo.
ReplyGame Over Man!Prometheus ForumWe know how it crashes, but how does a Derelict land?!Jan 18, 2012
@Engr101 ~ I was just poking a little fun had that actually been what happened to the SJ and the ship crashing. :) I do agree what you are saying could be a possibility but I think it would be more of a deliberate action if the derelict came to rest above a xeno temple and an egg chamber at that. I personally think it would be to random to crash and end up in that exact spot. Just my opinion.
