Not sure if this has been mentioned before but if you watch the third scene of the trailer, in the hanger I noticed some damage to the windscreen of APC. Must mean the two large vehicles make it back. check out image below.

I find it curious that explorers would bring a flame thrower with them. Had something already happened that made them think they would need that?
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumWhat are they driving to?...Jan 11, 2012
@pjr
Some of the leaked scripts mentioned two expeditions.
They are on the second planet & expecting threat or danger of some kind after the exploration of the strange temple on the first planet.
Another version of the script mentioned how the humans are double-crossed and they are mighty pissed at the Aliens/Egr/SJ, and they are going back to wipe out the ..."monstrosity."

True, this kind of thing would end up making it a political thriller or something with the aliens all tied up in it. It is an interesting thing that ridley picked zeta II reticuli and also interesting that scientists that 'analyzed' the map did as well. Wonder what that could mean!!
I know there's life out there, I just know that we probably don't want to encounter it, just as it probably would not want to encounter us... t'would end badly, I'm afraid...
"Most cases"... sounds like you are not a complete skeptic, right?
ReplyStarbeastEngineer0001Prometheus ForumZeta II ReticuliJan 11, 2012
curious, although the Space Jockeys aren't indigenous to Zeta 2 Reticulli. In fact, in the original A L I E N, Lambert actually says, when they're trying to find out where in the hell they are:
"I've found it. Just short of Zeta 2 Reticulli".
So, that means, the planet-LV 426-was in another planetary orbit around a gas giant with rings. The Derelict crashed on the planet that was near Zeta 2 Reticulli. Since the Derelict was broadcasting a signal on a short-bandwith cycle of 12 seconds on a radiowave frequency, it seems likely that it was from another part of the galaxy. If it wasn't, then there would be little left of it, since the Space Jockeys wouldn't want anything to do with any other superior-intellect beings messing around in their backyard.
ReplyManndroidPrometheus ForumZeta II ReticuliJan 11, 2012
@msg - I'm very much a skeptic, but the responsible kind; I do have an actual hobbyist fascination with ufology, cryptozoology, and the paranormal, but I'm grounded in the realm of probability - in the absense of proof of something being extraordinary, I will chalk it up to natural phenomenon before I jump the boat, which I think is a natural human yearning - to want to believe. As of yet, I don't think any singular case I've heard has made me believe anything otherwise, simply that it's yet unexplained.
Anyway, getting back to the subject of the film, I can see Zeta 2 Reticuli being chosen as an homage to fringe culture. The Hill case is probably the most famous of UFO lore. However, as the previous films kind of went out of their way to be fairly original where the aliens are concerned, it'd seem out of place - given Scott's sensibilities - to tie it all to Cold War-era pop culture.

Guys, it's MTV... just look at both of their number 1's. They are Twilight and Hunger Games - two movies geared towards a generation that, in general, is not into Alien.
ReplyArchEtechPrometheus ForumMTV Movie Brawl 2012: 'Hunger Games' Vs. 'Prometheus' Jan 11, 2012
Anyone who thinks Lady Gaga has no talent needs to get a clue. I'm a man in my 30's and even though her genre is a little off from me personally, she is one seriously freaky and talented person.
MTV has ruined filmmaking to a degree lets face it. They push the worst part of pop culture into some of the worst movies ever written. LOOK at any MTV production. I could care less what MTV crowds think. They wouldn't last 2 minutes on this forum trying to understand the depth of some of these conversation.... nerdy or not!
Twilight is just so terrible. I don't know where to begin so I won't. Hunger games might be good who knows but it's a totally different concept that can't be even compared to Prometheus. No matter what we wish Prometheus is not going to set box office records but it will do well.

I blatantly see the facehugger, I am so intrigued to see how this is all going to come together, the facehugger, the space jockeys....the xenomorphs. Incredibly exciting and intriguing - Hope it lives up to all our expectations!
Reply BiomechanicPrometheus ForumSpace Jockeys/Alien Masks ??Jan 11, 2012
Nice find Frantz, but I wonder... The background doesn't look like an FX production shop it looks like someones basement and for some reason this sculpture looks familiar to me but it could be just deJavu.
The similarities to the facehugger could be because the engineer who makes both use DNA sequences like programmers use libraries of code. The oxygen sequence that gives the facehugger victim air might also be suitable to use as a facemask to give the alien air.
If it is even real I wouldn't read too much into this.

Expect some remnants of long dead ancient civilization...of Earthly origin.
ReplypjrPrometheus ForumWhat we know up to know...Jan 11, 2012
"It's the story of creation, the gods and the man who stood against them. It's not a small film." - Ridley Scott. It's story line has been described as, "In the late 21st Century, the crew of the Prometheus explore the advanced civilization of an extraterrestrial race searching for the origins of humanity." Then I read a quote from Scott saying they find "uncivilized behavior" going on at the location of this advanced race. So, I wonder who "the man who stood against the gods" is? Is it one of the Prometheus crew, or the space jockey?
ReplyEGR101Prometheus ForumWhat we know up to know...Jan 11, 2012
@pjr
With Damon Lindelof (of LOST creative team), you could expect some crazy time loop, time travel scenario. If you are not familiar with the show LOST, it is about a group of survivors of a plane crash who got stranded on a tropical island with, yes, ancient remnants of secret temples (!) with Egyptian hieroglyphics, references to iChing, a doomsday machine with a countdown clock, psychological experiments, polar bears running around in tropical forrest, weird smoke entities, fanatic cults with strange pagan rituals, and other bizarre stuff.
Some of the wild speculations that the fans of that TV series thought up is that the survivors are not the first one to arrive in the island. There may be waves of humans being brought to the island throughout the ages since the times of the Egyptians. What if this company, Weyland Yutani, is some cult funded by some misanthropic psycho who intentionally leaves clues for curious humans to find and to trap them in a cosmic genetic game. And for those who work in big corporations before, they know they are all cults of some kind.
OK, the last few lines are a little wild :-)

ReplyStarbeastPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 11, 2012
@Juxtapose, well said, my friend.
@Ushbuck, contrary to what your upbringing may have taught you, rape of any nature unto anyone (man or beast) is depraved and barbaric. Glorification of rape is abominable and detestable. There is no plotline or creative story written (or yet to be written) that warrants the glorification of rape. Your flagrant mysogeny is indefensible and your sordid infatuations lead me to believe you've accidentally reached the wrong kind of website. You speak of needing your medication, and I would urge you to get some. Seriously, hand yourself into the authorities who can assist you before you do some harm in the real world.

I'm with ALL of you echoing disgust at Ushbuck, but let me ask a very good questions...
IF, something like this is going to happen in the film (and many of you seem to believe so, given the footage we have seen, stills from Comicon)... How would they EVER release a PG13 version of this film?
From what I've read they are filming the R and PG13 versions side by side. I just can't even fathom an alien rape, even IMPLIED, in a PG13 movie.
ReplydeadcellPrometheus ForumRAPE SCENE?Jan 11, 2012
very true, but in truth how much can you get away with in a pg 13 film. kind of restricts you way too much but it does keep those kind of scenes out. we will just have to see

Anyone who enjoys a rape scene should simply be shot. Nuf sais.
Dragon tatoo is pretty bad, both versions, but it's necessary in the movie. I didn't enjoy the scene. It's very awkward and I can't watch all of it......
Prometheus could have some pretty disturbing things, but how graphic it needs to be vs. implied is a fine line. I don't need to see biomechanical rape devices in action like some kind of twisted porno and if we do, I'd question Ridley Scott's grip on reality personally.

Everyone likes different movies. Airbender I gave less then 1 minute, then promptly turned it off. The Village was good until everything turned out to be fake. Which took away the fear of the unknown which made it a waste of time for me. Fear is what I miss, being unable to know who to trust. What is out there in the middle night. I love The Thing, the 1982 one. Because you are in the middle of nowhere with people you can’t trust. Out of a handful of movies that I saw, Devil was better. I’m not saying it was the best, but better then the other stuff I saw.

I always thought this way for the aliens in Aliens, they were killable easily because the Marines had weapons and because the Aliens worked as an hive in this one and not as a single one that must live at all cost. Also you can see that the alien in Alien is different than the ones in Aliens, mainly the head is different. So maybe it was another kind of Xeno.

Yes, yes, yes, agree with Frantz. First time I saw the trailer, I thought she was saying "I was so wrong. We were so wrong...I'm so sorry". Now I've seen it a million times, I don't have any differing opinion. And it fits in with the whole 'looking for our beginning, finding our end' mumbo jumbo.
But I can hear something in the background that sounds like 'Prometheus'...
Creepy.
