Spartacus,
Remember we're trying to stay away from Alien 3. There is a possibility thats right up your alley, nothing has ever been mentioned about this prior to now. If it is standard practice to have a "Bishop" on a ship. Why wouldn't it be standard practice to have a "Bishop" in the Colony to oversee the companies assets covertly? ie both the Atmosphere Processor and the Alien clutch?
This would make a whole lot of sense, to me, anyways. I could see.. them, through the android watch the colony dwindle and then see how the Aliens would act in a combat situation by sending in the marines. Why else put Gorman in there who is absolutely clueless in combat situations. Someone was pulling string in the military, since Gorman was the new Leui for the 2 squads. (That still doesn't make sense to me a platoon is 4 squads) Anyways what do you think?

Brilliant Rick, absolutely love your slant there, makes sense to me.
My Bad on the Alien 3 references but they are in fact part of this, and I could not resist.

Spartacus,
I don't mind Alien 3. I would have done it alot different though. Its alright as a stand alone but a sequel to Aliens not a chance. Sides the Ridley/Cameron Only natives might start hunting for us. LOL

I've seen this article, but at the same time FOX's "official" promoted facebook page for Prometheus still lists Ben Foster as one of the cast. Fox's Prometheus' page info have this stated under their "Starring" tab:
Starring: Michael Fassbender; Noomi Rapace; Charlize Theron; Idris Elba; Guy Pearce; Ben Foster; and Logan Marshall-Green
I'm waiting to hear back on clarification with this before I make any mention of it. But thanks for posting it Frantz!

Thanks Rick for the baphomet article. I have always been faSINated with Giger. There is a heaven and hell, somewhere out there and a little bit of Giger among us too. I've seen this Bophomet creature a few times in my life. Every time, I come to the street where I first saw it, The lights change for the crosswalk. So I have to stop and there's nobody there but you got to press the button to make the light work. :| East African Sufis call it a Millihoyie. I don't think they believe it is the devil but one of the most dangerous inter dimensional beings call Jinn. The devil who was the first Jinn and not an Angel that fell from grace: Was know as the "Father of Prostration". Well at least until Adam was created from muck of all colors of the rainbow. The devil gave birth to the Jinns by having sex with his butt and his tail. Then he laid them as eggs. At some point they had the ability to fly through the heavens to steal knowledge of the future and are chased down to the earthly spheres by a shooting star. Usually, I wish upon a shooting stars but if that is true then if you see a shooting star it means that those things are coming down. Alien Invasion style. Once on the earth they transform into Goat people. That might also be because some goat farmers got a little too excited. Yes Neurion electric sheep dream of farmers...Just as Underwear bombers dream of BangCock in prison.

Spartacus,
There is a problem with that Bishop, came with the Marines. I don't think these outright chose a specific human I think they had become numbered enough to require a queen to speed along the hive growth so they grabbed the first available one and used them.
Still just a theory. I would love to see a sequel to Hadley's Hope that included some story line from the actual colony situation with the aliens.
Regards,
Rick
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 12, 2011
I love your theory.
However,
Something about that whole scene at the end of Alien 3 with Bishop trying to re-assure Ripley that Wayland-Yutani has no designs on any new BIOMECHANICAL WEAPON and does not want anything other than her "well being" and to "take it out you", the whole thing still smells to me of his potential massive COVER-UP & LIE he spat to her face, and what I remember most, is that SCREAM he pronounced, that deliberate and somehow so wrong sounding SCREAM to the entire science fiction community as he/we all watched her kill their Pet project and herself in one fell swoop!!!
As for "The Bishop Problem"; their is a lot to say for the fact that he was/may not have been a real human being {making that 3 total Bishops all told as of that moment} and may not have even been the "Real Bishop" altogether as he claimed, but rather a product of advanced Robotics himself, with some very Greedy/Evil designs acting as the front man for "WT" !!!
But that also infers that someone, perhaps the true "Bishop" was pulling his android strings from the start!!!
ReplyZetaReticuliPrometheus ForumNecronomicon !!!Oct 12, 2011
Oh yes, hopefully, at long last, there may be a second film that depicts
the world of Giger's 'Necronomicon' so unabashedly and without restraint.
The first simply being 'Alien'. Why has this man been so criminally overlooked ,
mis-represented and generally let down by the film-making community since
Alien?
In a perverse and contradictory way, I'm glad this is the case, because it only serves
to accentuate further the strange peripheral world he creates and the 'exclusivity'
of his legions of adoring fans. Vive le roi - H.R.Giger.....

It´s rather uncommon- Mr. Giger fashioned this designer watch ( at first I thought, it was a clock) which comes closer to the standards of classic industrial-design, I´d say... Model: Passagen; Released by Morpheus (ltd. to ??? pieces); More Info.
;
P.S.: I presume that this dude had ants enough in his pants, anyway;
furtheron I presume that he honors `Krom- the god of steel´; as also `Conan (Arnold) the Barbarian´ used to honor...
Furtheron, `he must love it, when a plan comes together in the ending´, this Mr. Cheap Laugh Wanna Have... (as I just learned in the added article above). Weather´s fine here, I´m cured.

@ Rick:
Hello. As I´m from Germany, I was in Switzerland some times.
It´s very expensive ( they´ve still pay w. Franken, as you know)
... as you take it upon yourself to go all the way transatlantic,
you should also vist this (test?) site
It´s that theme park of `von Daeniken´. Maybe that´s sth for you.
I´ve not visited yet and perhaps won´t do so.
Once, in the early 2000s (2004) I was visiting an dissertation, though.
I was the only one in disguise, wearing a headband with an UFO
attached on it.
only btw. : two beauties who I´d adored very much, in each case,
have moved over there. anyway. : (
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumGigeresque Work in Real Steal?Oct 11, 2011
Vanilla,
What do you consider expensive?
Rick
ReplyVanilla-HollywoodPrometheus ForumGigeresque Work in Real Steal?Oct 11, 2011
o.k., Rick - that, of course, depends on how much you want to spend and
lastly what your expenses are goin to be; take a chicken mc nuggets menu
at mc donalds: it´s 12 Franken which is circa 9,60 Euro (everyone needs a
rest when touring); furtheron, if you plan to go roaming w. a rented car-
you should know that they have milage dependent toll (unless I cannot say
how it´s gonna be converted in the tariff rate).
Once, I sat in a street café in Zuerich and paid almost eight Euros for just
eating a small portion of pudding.
And that´s just public spaces in downtown; you´d dread to think of the
expenses at places like St. Moritz (the Aspen of Switzerland).
P.S.:
If you´re that enthused about darkwave and related art-forms, you´d be better to go to Austria/Vienna. Indeed, there´s not a Giger Museum, but all in all there´s a lot more of this realm of possibility- and it´s more price-worth; )
Here´s another link:](...and of course, from time to time there´s a Giger arts exhibition, too.)

To get back to discussion´s topic, here´s an image of some (ski?-) boots, that H. R. Giger once designed (and casted?):

P.S.: I have done some sketches or drafts of similar shape (darkwaver´s sunglasses, however without any body fixation); unfortunatelly I`m not able to upload these, because I don´t have a photobucket-account, yet.

so much of that is completely in line with Spaiths' original ideas and script.
I have to wonder how much of it is still credible, despite how much I totally enjoyed reading it. {I know, I Know, I am the ONLY one that did, LOL}
ReplyOan MkollPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
Rick. i like your "trickle effect", but in the marines briefing Ripley states that it took the alien 24 hours to neutralize the crew of the Nostromo, and i believe that she means 24 hours from "birth" till her escape on the shuttle! I think they mature faster than you indicate.
Replyxeno_alpha_07Prometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
The Crew ships back to planet lv429 (I think thats the name). Doing this they go thru the typical deep space sleep. This would mean they are under sleep for a quite some time. They wouldn't go into that for a week journey - right? Wouldn't Newt have aged?
The journey from Gateway station to LV-426 took 3 weeks. So, the siege between the colonists and aliens took place around 5 -6 weeks approx. The added few weeks included in that approximation includes the two weeks contact time. The maturing is a rapid process, very rapid. Ricks trickle effect is a nice allegory and regardless of the speedy maturing rate of the creatures is still plusable.
ReplyRickPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
Hey Oan,
That was just a quick analysis. You also need to factor in Queen Birth, Queen placement and egg birthing canal supports built. This takes time and I am sure would have drawn away from them plucking humans. Not to mention building the hive in the reactor, and egg maintenance. By the time the Marines got there the hive was rather extensive.
Spartacus,
I've seen all of the extended uncut films. I don't think the Queen growth would be the same as the rest of the aliens. I believe that would take much longer before she reached the proper age/size to start producing eggs. I would like to think they snatched a human and cocooned it to grow a queen egg for reproduction. (Drawing on Alien Cocooning and staying as far from Alien 3 as possible).
Regards,
Rick
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
The queen could evolve from a Warrior, by eating the royal jelly. This is what Cameron suggested also how bees form a queen. This way would make more sense instead of a special facehugger as seen in Alien 3, which should die after first implantation. Although how the egg got on the ship was never even mentioned or thought out. Okay, I am going to cry now at how bad Alien 3 was....although Fincher came into his own thankfully, stinking producers! lol
ReplyMr.JPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
oh and this is Cameron's take, not Scott's I might add.
ReplySpartacusPrometheus ForumAliens - Have questionsOct 11, 2011
copy that Rick, very cool words indeed, and here's more food for thought...
IMO You are Right, {I would like to think they snatched a human and cocooned it to grow a queen egg for reproduction} but the XENOMORPHS, IMO, did not pick who that would be...and rather, much later, WAYLAND-YUTANI did, with the help and/or insistence of BISHOP, and the woman they settled on for that, the Pentagon of their race, and any future queens of their sinister bloodline... was RIPLEY !!!

Nice post Spartacus, I think you mean that new 'H.R.Giger Revealed' dvd with the
moving images don't you? The 'Erotovisions' are phenomenal. You're right about how
the later films (with the exception of the creature in #3 - that was an exquisite design)dumbed down the Alien form rendering it so far removed from the Necronomicon imagery as to make it look like an oily, swimming blind dinosaur.
As you infer, this was because of stupid Hollywood money-mentality, wrong choices for concept design and general art department and lack of artistic execution while making the later films. I really hope to God this Tom Rothman fella levels well with Scott's vision and comes to a hair's breadth compromise for the rating - never mind the blu-ray version, the long-awaited, definitive filmic Giger phantasms and there attendant shock value should be rightly experienced at the cinema.
