In the lead up to this year's Alien Day on April 26th IGN are releasing a series of short movies written and directed by fans of the Alien franchise to celebrate 40 years since the release of Alien. While fan films have long had a reputation of usually being poorly filmed with wooden acting recent fan movies by Star Wars Theory, Jamie Costa, and Escape Velocity Content have shown that with enough dedication and vision fans can successfully emulate, and possibly even surpass the work of multimillion-dollar studios.
Sadly last weeks short Alien: Containment failed to live up to the high standard of such fan films. Hopefully, this week's short, Alien: Specimen, directed by Kelsey Taylor, will prove more appealing to the fanbase. Alien: Specimen was written by Federico Fracchia and stars Jolene Anderson, Aubrey Wakeling, and Goose.
