Fede Alvarez's Alien film (tentatively titled Alien: Romulus) finally has an official release date! Thanks to a fresh report by The Hollywood Reporter, we now know Alien: Romulus will debut August 16th, 2024 and as we previously reported, the film will debut in theaters and not only on demand as originally suspected:
20th Century has added another installment in the Alien franchise, dated for Aug. 16, 2024. Filmmaker Fede Alvarez is behind the feature, which stars Cailee Spaeny. The studio has also added the Rami Malek thriller The Amateur to Nov. 8, 2024.
The new Alien film sees some familiar faces returning to help create the nightmarish atmosphere we've come to expect from an Alien flick - Ridley Scott returns to produce and concept artist Dane Hallett will also be lending his talents once again.
Alien: Romulus is also reported to take place between the events of Alien (1979) and its sequel Aliens (1986) and borrows heavily from the game Alien: Isolation.
The official plot synopsis involves "a group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe".
