The team at Weta Digital, Alex Gillis and Stan Winston's Legacy Effects studio will be responsible for bringing the practical Alien Xenomorphs for Fede Alvarez's Alien: Romulus to life, according to new reports! Alec Gillis and Legacy Effects are no stranger to the world of Alien, having provided practical effects work for many of the previous Alien films - Stan Winston's original studio being responsible for the iconic Warrior Xenomorph suits and Xenomorph Queen puppet from James Cameron's sequel Aliens (excluding Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, whose Xenomorph suits and other practical effects were handled by the talented crew at Odd Studio and visual effects by Weta & MPC).
We expect a healthy blend of both practical effects and CGI from Alien: Romulus and Legacy Effects are sure to deliver!
The upcoming Alien movie, which now has a set release date of August 16th, 2024 is expected to wrap principal photography by the end of this month - after nearly 4 months of production. As new details surface we'll be sure to keep you updated!
