MemberDeaconJul-28-2017 8:44 AMAgain i have to Question the Marketing and those behind all this at FOX, as the Books Cover again looks misleading. Again i guess they have to show the Xenomorph so people looking at this book will make a connection that the book is linked to the Movie.
When actually the book while links to the Movie will have not a single connection to the Xenomorph... unless the book covers any kind of twist or information behind what W-Y know about LV-223 and Davids where abouts.
Surely ADF has worked close with FOX/RS on this and so this book will maybe give us a Time of when the Covenant finally gets underway towards Oregae-6, which will help us to see how this fits with Covenants Time Line as i assume the ship is not on a 7 year mission as some time would already had past during the mission due to it having to Recharge with the Sails.
I think the book can give some insider information to Corporate conspiracy and espionage and turmoil behind the scenes.
What is interesting is this is stating the Covenant is the most ambitious mission the Company has taken part in and is off to Charter Distance Areas of Space we have not explored as far as Mankind (which goes against the Weyland Prometheus Viral site which has shown Mankind has explored much further prior to Prometheus).
But we cant take the Viral Prometheus site as Canon as far as the Discover New Worlds part of the site.
It seems the book is painting a picture that things are getting bad on Earth, so bad that there is some good reason Mankind needs to start to establish Large Off World Colonies. So it would be interesting if we get some back ground to this.
Alien Resurrection also painted a Dire Turmoil on Earth at some previous date, and gives clues that there was a few uprisings from Synthetics in the Past.
Looking at how RS has seemed to be exploring the Themes of Rebellion and David 8, it is possible a Hubris to Mankind in the Pursuit and Creation of AI has its drawbacks. And so in part RS could be hinting at some kind of Terminator/Matrix kind of Plot as far as Rebellious, Sentient AI and the adverse affect it would have on Mankind.

MemberChestbursterJul-28-2017 9:05 AMI mean, the cover is badass, but I agree with BigDave that it is misleading again. Marketing seems to be faltering pretty hardcore with this film and it's related releases... Except for the blu-ray covers!
I also agree with BigDave about the timeline and what shape the Earth is in. As far as I remember, Weyland had Earth on track to survive for a long time... I mean, didn't an atmospheric processor literally stop the acceleration of global warming? I can't be surprised by all of these u-turns, but I can still complain! I am excited to get to spend some more time with Daniels, Lope, Jake though. Plus, Foster usually turns out some great content, so the book should be entertaining to me no matter what, really.
One thing I half expect to read is a few passages dedicated to David or David and Shaw, or you know, something like that, you know? Maybe even the Engineers get a page or two. Ohhhh and maybe there are some interactions with a Walter model or even David in there? I mean, David is off the line at that point, but there is a chance!

MemberDeaconJul-28-2017 9:32 AMIndeed and one thing to remember is RS will want to take his Prequels as Cannon and ALIEN... so we cant be sure what his plans are as far as Backgrounds that Aliens and Alien 3 etc give us... if he does go for a kind of Rogue Uprising by AI/Synthetics route or some other Problem... that would not add up to the Background we get from Aliens too much... RS could potentially want to make his own Alien Sequels that in effect do to Aliens what Blomkamps Alien 5 would have with Alien 3 and Alien R

MemberOvomorphOct-12-2024 12:39 PMThe prequel was quite dissapointing and did not include any Xenomorphs at all, you could even say it was one of the worst Alien books ever.
However, the Alien: Covenant novelization was great and expanded on the movie in great detail. It even "fixed" the issue of David creating the Xenomorphs.
