MemberOvomorph01/3/2012Hi guys, I had this idea, which I would like to mention to you. It is again highly speculative but IMO very consistent with the Alien story, Prometheus trailer, RS’s comments, etc. Disclaimer: it is VERY CREEPY. All comments will be appreciated.
Premises:
1 - Other posts mentioned a link to a very interesting article that presents Giger’s representation of the Alien life cycle, which is actually depicted very literally - in it, the egg seems to originate from a kind of blend of the derelict and a female woman’s belly. This is also connected to the egyptian god Nut, who is supposed to represent resurrection and rebirth.
2- Other posts also addressed the high probability that there’s some kind of symbiotic relationship between the ship and its pilot, turning it into a biomechanical entity.
3 - An additional point that I cannot shake off is how in the greek myth Prometheus is condemned to endure a horrible daily punishment for his sins – which actually takes place on his belly.
Then… WHAT IF (i) the derelict is actually not only a ship but also an egg factory and (ii) the chair is actually a surgery table...
Let’s say that the Engineers (i) fill up the cargo bay with ampules containing a bioformer and (ii) fuse a female specimen of a host species to the seat (in the case that we know best, a SJ).
Every single day, the huge “telescope-like” machine in front of the chair is used to impregnate the host’s womb with one ampule’s bioformer, to later remove it (the impregnated womb becoming the egg!) and to place the egg where the original ampule was. This would result in a new species that could become a bioweapon army or anything else.
The biomechanical trait of the derelict-host pair allows the host to be regenerated everyday and be ready for the next impregnation. Multiplied by thousands of days, this daily torture would justify the presence of a huge number of eggs inside the cargo bay when the derelict was found.
Note that this also justifies why the chair can rotate downwards toward the cargo bay (easy access ampule-host and/or host–new egg location).
I speculated before that Shaw might be abducted during the movie (after being caught in the sandstorm). It would make sense for this to happen so that she is tested by the Engineers for the host’s role in a new ship similar to the SJ’s derelict (no clue how and why she escapes). This would justify some of the creepy images that we see of Shaw in the trailer. It is also consistent with the premises previously mentioned and justifies the origin of the eggs.
What do you think? Makes sense? Too far-fetched?

MemberOvomorph01/4/2012I'll be honest here. I think Spart has a lot to offer in conversation but his behavior here would have gotten him banned/barred from most other forums. Not saying I agree with that but I think he needs a break. It is tiresome to see post after post of him stating his facts in argumentation and then somebody plainly proves their side and then have him act like it was either what he was saying all along....or be all apologetic about it when he should have just left well enough alone. This a forum about a movie, not politics or religion emotions shouldn't be that high. The man has stated he is 51 years old but his behavior here says otherwise.
So kudos Snork for being the second person to call him out on this.
