I wanted to see if i could pick up anything we may see in june. After watching Ash (the only person that could have ties to any prequel). I'm starting to think we may see xenos or the people in prometheus will learn a great deal about them. In the scene where land has the hugger on his face Dallas wants to remove it right away. Ash then says somthig like wait wait wait it might be feeding him air. I think ash knew that the hugger was laying an embryo. I thinkin june we will find out how the "company" knew so much............also I find I really strange that the crew in the first movie find an amazing discovery (SJ ship) and they take off..........WTF.............what you guys think?

Amen.
Parker: “Well I’d rather be eatin’ somethin’ else…but right now I’ll stick to the food.” :-)

Question;
and If you get this right I will add a point to your total in the Prometheus Movie Trivia thread.
What INCREDIBLE THING does Parker do in Alien, right after taking a sip from his coffee cup?
HINT;
For me, it was pound for pound the funniest thing in any of the Alien franchise films...by FAR !!!

well sparty depend in which section one log in ..i usually log in the community section so i see only the latests posts and recent discussions ..that are not divided between prometheus ones and generic ones ... i just follow randomly the discussions that are going on like i think everyone do . I really dont see the division . i was complaining that any new post push back some interesting ones ...so i was asking to think twice before opening a new thread ..just that :p

Rick, we don't know if he actually does that, you went to far, but what DOES he actually do?

it's got to be the easiest question in Alien franchise trivia question history and what's even funnier to me is that I had to watch that scene like 30 times to convince myself I was seeing and hearing what I was seeing and hearing and that Scott DELIBERATELY left it in the film.

i don't think the company knew much about it either. The Nostromo stopped because it was closest to check it out. It was stated that in the crews' contracts, they were required to investigate things like the beacon. When they first woke up, Ash seemed confused just like everyone else.
Ash figuring out quickly things about the Xeno, and secretly reporting back to WY is plausible. As a programmed product, his loyalty was to WY. I wouldn't be surprised if part of his programming was to already monitor and make reports on the crew before the xeno came into the picture.

Ash had plenty of time to analyze the face-hugger. Given his company agenda, it's only logical to conclude that he had certainly learned much more than what he actually shared with the crew.

I would venture a guess that a lot of the people here are straight. Not that it actually matters one way or the other.

maybe they wanted the alien to whipe out the whole crew so they new the life cycle they didn ´t thought someone would survive... and if they sent the marines it wouldn´t be so secret there would be some governament involvement. This way they kept the whole thing in their own company without sharing.

It's clear from the scene where Ripley revives Ash that both he & the company knew about the alien or at least knew something was there that was worth investigating. The question is what did they know, how & when? Hopefully we'll get some idea or explanation of this in Prometheus. I'm thinking along the lines that nobody in Prometheus gets out alive but someone manages to send a message back home .......... so unfolds the events in Alien (to put it simply).

Haha Snorkel, if only that were the case. Just sharing me tattoo as an introduction. Nothing more. These days....I don't care enough to troll women. In real life or here. :-P

One wonders how exactly the company expected Ash to restrain the Alien, or what exactly they were going to do once the Nostromo landed..Also when Ripley is being debriefed in Aliens, the company certainly doesn't seem to believe anything about a Xenomorph 'it's a rock..no indigenous life'

so ur telling me the company planned to risk the lives of hundreds of families and children on LV-426? my god....
January 07, 2012
if they know there was something around ... why to send a colony and not just a squad to explore ? They did neither gave the order to scout around until the return of Ripley ..... i think LV426 was suitable for terraformation due to his primordial state ...and was good for the plot to have a colony there :p
January 07, 2012
Or...
They sent the colony there with orders that if they found anything to report it to the company, having realised the signal had been turned off or shut down. Then when they found Ripley they made sure to ask her the co-ordinates of the Derelict.
As for not sending a specialised squad in to investigate, this argument would also apply to Alien. It wasn't until Alien 3 that the company sent such a team, which suggests (to me) that someone or something had forbid them to use such means on LV-426, but who/what?
