That Egg in Alien 3

David fincher wanted ripley being infected And so he caused a plot hole as the queen is not supposed to lay eggs without Her egg trailer ;) Also, how come that the second facehugger Made it to the escape pod but did not try to facehug newt or hicks before they died through the crashlanding? Imo the weakest part of alien 3.

I agree it's the weakest part of Alien 3, a movie in which I really enjoyed even if it does leave me in a bit of a downer at the end!

I was 14 when i watched the movie With great expectations. Though i Think the movie was good overall, The beginning disturbed me, why were there eggs and it even was almost up side down hanging Probably at the dropship. then why did the facehuggers Came out and find the people invthe hypersleep chambers despite They were far away and also not moving? How come that ripley survived that crash Despite she was thrown out of The escape pod? That was really not convincing and imo the first real canon breaking.

For me...Alien 3...[i]The Re mastered tribute to Lynch's efforts version[/i]...is nothing less than a 100% MASTERPIECE of film making !!! Of all 4 films, for me, it had by far the most substance and the most horrfying Xeno eating Human scenes, it also had the BEST camera work IMO of all 4 films, and it also used animatronics IMO better than any film in Motiion picture history!!!

Where are we getting two eggs? The queen layed one and it infected Ripley. There was a burn on Newt's cryotube but maybe it passed on her, in favor of Ripley's bigger child bearing body. Not sure where this notion came from...

@Skyguy1054 were getting two from the Dog/Bull depending on the version you like and Ripley getting infected....that makes two eggs, one for each host.

Yes there were 2, one was on the Sulaco and the other stowed away on board the EEV. So annoying not to have an explaination WHERE they came from or HOW they got there. The queen couldn't have brought them up with her as it clearly shows her(minus the eggs) before Ripley and Newt board the drop ship and I'm fairly sure it said somewhere that the queen can't produce eggs without the sac! Very lazy on behalf of the writers not to explain this, even after all this time!

Not to mention the egg that was hanging upside down looked like it was inside the ship proper, not in the landing bay. It looks like the Marines locker room to me.

First off......there is no evidence to suggest two eggs. We only ever see one and it's seen in the opening title sequence. Given that, and if you follow the logic, the facehugger planted two embryos, one in Ripley and one in the dog or bull (depending on the cut you're watching)..We only ever see one facehugger as well, the one hanging from the ceiling as the dog barks at it during the EEV's transport by crane... .....granted, I'm as disturbed by anyone that one facehugger can plant two embryos, it's seems like a cheap plot fix, but I'm even more disturbed by the one egg's existence to begin with, because it doesn't track at all with the series of events at the end of 'Aliens'. And I'm not going to sit here and rag on Fincher either....he's the only one that saved that mess at all. Without Fincher coming in and pulling all the various bits together, there would be no movie and let's not forget that by the time he joined the production, the plot, overall was pretty much set and locked on a planet where Ripley's EEV crashes, monks or criminals, and the alien had to have come with her from the Sulaco....that bit's on the writers and producers who gave him that mess.....the man has no choice but to plant an egg randomly, because no one gave him anything better to work with.....

What amazes me is that the answer to all of this is so obvious and none of you have thought of it yet. I say the reasoning did not ever need to be put forth in the film because in LIFE it was always pretty darn easy to guess where EGGS CAME FROM. They don't just appear people, they have to be LAID first, either where they are and/or get transported later. Have any of you even thought about BURKE ??? Remember him? Company Man, gonna impregnate Newt and Ripley at all costs before they get back home...BURKE...remember him?

Maby the Queen just caried her last surviving eggs into the ship while nobodies looking???

Burke never made it back to the Sulaco...he never had the chance to put one there...........

Besides...how would anyone, let alone a sniveling company suit, know how to handle an egg?....

How would Burke get the eggs on there without getting facehugged himself??? I think we can just chalk it up the entire scenario to a plot hole.

Hey guys! Brand new member, first post. It's obviously not canon, but it's been sugested in the comics that, under extreme conditions, drones can lay eggs themselves, and usually those eggs will hold a queen. So if drones may lay eggs, who's to say the Queen can't lay eggs without the egg sack? The facehugger that holds on to Rippley and the one that catches the dog/bull on Alien 3 may very well have come from eggs layed in the ship by the Queen. Besides, the whole "where did they come from" issue is not so disturbing (Burke COULD have got the eggs on board on those containers we see in sick bay); why the second one didn't get a hold of Newt or Hicks is far more disturbing to me, because there is NO WAY to make sense of it... Unless they were dead already??? :P

@inguafoeda acheronsis......Burke dies on LV-426.....WHILE THEY ARE STRANDED......he never comes in contact with the second drop Bishop remote pilots to the surface....therefore, it's illogical and impossible for him to have had anything to do with the egg on board the Sulaco...... ....second...it isn't about whether the qeeun could lay an egg without the egg sack...it has everything to do with the fact the one egg is seen in 'Alien 3' to be perched on a wall, not in the landing gear of the dropship where the queen hid and the climax of 'Aliens' affords her absolutely no opportunity to lay that egg anywhere......she shows herself, rips Bishop in half, descends from the landing gear, chases Ripley to the bay doors, turns her attention to Newt when she realizes it's pointless to fight the door for Ripley, chases Newt across the floor of the loading dock as she lifts grate after grate, turns and fights Ripley to the death when Ripley returns in the power loader............[b]THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO OPPORTUNITY IN ANY OF THAT FOR THE QUEEN ALIEN IN 'ALIENS' TO LAY THAT EGG ANYWHERE BUT THE LANDING GEAR OF THE DROPSHIP AND ....OH....GUESS WHAT....IT ISN'T IN THE LANDING GEAR[/b]...therefore, it's a plot hole with no explanation.....[b]PERIOD..END OF STORY[/b]

Oh Craigo, You n I like to argue this. I still think there was an R&D Ship near the Nostromo. This explains the Egg's in A3 and how they were able to land inside a few days at Fiorina when the scan was sent back to network. It fills a bunch of holes everywhere. Regards, Rick
