Does anyone else have any concerns over this guy? With 'Lost', when I missed one episode, it was as confusing as s#*t trying to figure out whats happening!!!! And that was over the space of 5 series and countless episodes!!!!!! During a feature length, I'm afraid that if I sneeze and miss 2 seconds I may end up not understanding what the hell is going on!!! just hope this movie doesn't end up Matrixing my mind!

My single vote = Lost got off to an interesting start but went down hill very quickly. The same show template was reused. One group runs off into the jungle unprepared, another group struggles to go save them, a few mysteries along the way - watch for Prome crew to get split up and into trouble - standard horror script in that respect.

i did hate Lost ...stop following it after a few weeks since i understood that they had no idea how to finish everything ( and i was at the first season ! ) However he have the ability to create great characters ..he did it in Lost and in Cowboys and Aliens .... and we already saw that he did it the same in Prometheus ... he was able to add too ( with the help of the basic Spahits script ) a great story ? ...We will see ...

Lost was existentialistic crap with a religious core. Like watching Seinfeld (a great existentialistic show) without the redemption of being funny. I just felt strung along, even though I watched only one or two episodes. Anyway, I think there will be similar unanswered questions in Prometheus, but I think the core questions will be addressed in this movie or in the sequel.

I will be honest here and say LOST was captivating, for 2 seasons, then it became insulting. It dragged on and on and became so absurd I finally gave up on it and never went back. I never even bothered to watch the finale, I just didn't give a darn at that point. I felt they f*cked with me to keep me watching and never really delivered.

@Svanya: I totally agree with you. I was also captivated by the first 3 seasons and really enjoyed watching it as the plot evolved. I hugely enjoyed the whole Dharma Initiative stuff until the whole thing went berserk after S03... After having left it alone for about 2 years I returned to it in order to finish what I had started and it was so hard to get back into it (even after re-watching a few episodes from S01, 2 and 3) But you have to give Lindelof and the other writer the credit for being forced to write it on-the-go, as they went along. Not an easy task I'd say, lots of pressure, especially since it was so popular. The final was a total mess and I wish I had never watched it. But I guess with Prometheus it is a different story altogether and I hope he was using his talents in character build-up wisely. Again, we all just have to wait and see...

I never watched Lost while it aired, but saw all 6 seasons in one-shot-in-the-arm and it wasn't all that bad. It kind of became TV-crack. I did research fan reactions and many said that Lost Seasons 1 and 6 were the best. 2-5 being simple filler.

@abordoli: Agreed to a certain extend. I think the whole story could have been compressed by a lot. But then I suppose we were meant to go on this journey with the characters and needed to feel a 'history' over time, what many people considered lengthy.

Yeah, LOST was fun for the first couple of seasons but it dropped off after that. It was interesting trying to figure out what was going on with Dharma.

My view since Lost ended is that Lindelof is just like MIB (nothing but smoke and mirrors). He promises answers without having any real ones. He will do anything to lure you away from your center in order to "Trick" you. Its one thing to create mystique and deep meaning (Kubrick, Ridley Scott, pre 90's Spielberg.) But its another to completely deceive and betray the audience that affords you that power (Lindelof,Abrams,Shaylaman,Bay). I hope Ridley has let him be creative....but called his Bullshit when he (Lindelof) gets too arrogant and hollow.....qualities we have all seen through his (Lindelof) reactions to honest people.

well, I hated Lost, so I am a LITTLE concerned, but the general script was already written by Speight as more of an Alien direct prequel, and Damon was brought in to turn it into something "bigger and better, and more far-reaching", so I am not as worried as I might have been knowing that Damon wrote it solely on his own. he does seem like a great guy, and he and Ridley seem to have a great working relationship, and as much as he worships RS, I doubt he said "No" to anything Ridley insisted upon about changing in the script... That said...the movie's gonna be great. Let's stop worrying about it. It won't please everyone, but it'll please most of us, I guarantee..

My original response got Lost last night during the server work that Bugsey was doing.... No, not concerned whatsoever about Lindelof, Ridley Scott is in command across the board, top to bottom.

Well Im blaming Lindelof AND Scott if this film sucks....the director, cast, budget, production crew all first class.... ....the script?? Just look at how LOST turned out, a spider web of plotholes thinly held together by a worthless drawn out narrative. Ultimately it lands on Ridley's head - the buck stops with him if this disappoints. I want an adult themed, cerebral sci-fi masterpiece to match Alien - but I think we all know what were really going to get $ is king

Jp, I saw what you just wrote and many people, many many many many people to my UTTER ASTONISHMENT have written The VERY same thing you just did...This...
Well Im blaming Lindelof AND Scott if this film sucksI
So... have to ask 2 questions... #1-How Old Are You? #2-What exactly do you mean..."I'm blaming Lindelof AND Scott if this film sucks"? I mean, Have you even seen the trailers? Have you ever seen Alien. Do you understand who is/was involved in Making this film? Have you seen what is going on in the film world right now and the BUZZ that thing thing has created already pre-release? But the most important question of all I wan to ask is this, It seems to me you have to be a teenager because I do Not Know a single adult on this earth that knows anything at all about FILM that would ever even think such a thing about this project let alone say it...so My question is...CAN YOU SHOW ME A FULL LENGTH FEATURE SCIENCE FICTION FILM THAT YOU MADE?, BECAUSE IF YOU HAVEN'T HOW CAN YOU SPECULATE ABOUT A MOVIE "SUCKING"? WHO ARE YOU TO SAY A FILM SUCKED? WHAT CAN YOU TELL ME ABOUT GOOD FILMS AS OPPOSED TO BAD ONES AND AFTER SEEING THE FINISHED FULL TRAILER IF YOU EVEN HAVE, WHAT ABOUT IT MAKES YOU THINK THIS IS GOING TO BE BAD FILM? CAUSE AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, IN THE PAST 50 YEARS AND BEYOND THAT WAY PAST THE CREATION OF 2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY, THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A FILM IN ANY GENRE THAT LOOKS THIS GOOD OR HAS CREATED THIS KIND OF EXCITEMENT...BEFORE IT WAS EVEN PROPERLY SEEN BY ANYONE...IMO WE ARE ALREADY LOOKING AT GLIMPSES OF NEXT YEARS OSCAR FOR BEST PICTURE AND DIRECTOR...I JUST HAVE TO KNOW...WHAT IS IT THAT IS MAKING TODAY'S YOUNGER GENERATION SO PARANOID ABOUT THIS FILM AND IT BEING A BAD ONE ???????????

I'm a bit envious of those for whom the original "Alien" is their all-time favorite film, because I now think that "Prometheus" has a better than even chance of topping the original in visuals, characterizations, story-depth; even visceral impact.

sparty - you need to chill your beans son, im a lot older than you think - although what that has got to do anything I dont know. But you clearly need an explanation (in lower case) I was succinct so I ill explain it again shall I? Im saying that if this film disappoints (sorry sucks - how immature) its because it doesnt live up to expectations in some way. Why are those expectations so high - its becuase of the things we know - the cast, director, the incredible trailers, the sheer depth and endless possibilities of where this story may take us (were all on here to speculate) - its all lining up to be quite wonderful isnt it? So you understand that the ONLY thing we dont know right now is the story...the script...if it disappoints, it will be Lindelof and ultimately Scott who will have dropped the ball. Its called logic Spartacus. Im not saying or wishing this to be a bad film...im stating that the only thing that can fail right now is teh element that none of us know and are just specualting about...the story Rant over.

artyoh - I agree...'a better than even chance', of all the multitude of variables that can make a film disappoint...to really only be left with one last possibility given all the evidence...its exactly the same point Im making

impossible, your logic IMO is completely flawed, There is NO CHANCE WHAT SO EVER that this film will "Suck"...NONE !!! The story as we know it right now, is perhaps the single most Mature story line for this genre EVER CREATED. I never once said you wanted or wished it to be bad film, you speculated it would be all by yourself, which I cannot, for the life of me, understand. Also, where have you been exactly?, because Ridley Scott has stated about 4,000 times that he waited this long 33+ years for the "Right Story", and that This is it! I was pretty damn clear, a lot of people are speculating that this will be bad film whom have ZERO experience in film making, Do Not seem to know the facts about the creation of this project too well, and are hell bent on informing me and everyone else here that I should be prepared for a problematic story or plot. Quite Frankly this is all a massive pile of stinking Rubbish !!! There is NO chance the story for this film is in any way a bad one...NONE !!! Go take along look at what kind of films have been released world wide in the past 40 years and go find one for me with a better story than this one has already!!! Even Not knowing it at all and completely...already... I can tell you this film is a cut above every single movie ever released before it...Period !!! What we know 100% for certain already... This is the Pinnacle of Hollywood storytelling !!! They do NOT get any better than this!!! Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Guy Pearce lead an all-star cast. The film will follow the fortunes of the spaceship crew "Prometheus" in the year 2085, as they explore an alien civilisation. Their mission? To discover the origins of humanity. According to Ridley Scott we should expect something quite different film from the original 1979 Alien. “While Alien was indeed the jumping-off point for this project, out of the creative process evolved a new, grand mythology and universe in which this original story takes place,” said Scott. “The keen fan will recognize strands of Alien’s DNA, so to speak, but the issues tackled are unique, large and provocative”. Fassbender backed up this statement in a December interview. He called the film "a whole different world" to the original Alien. "It's a slow-burner of a thriller," he said. According to lead actress Noomi Rapace (who plays the archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw in the film), Prometheus will be a “brutally beautiful” picture. Much of the plot has been shrouded in secrecy, but the screenplay is said to be dramatic and compelling, focusing on humanity’s never-ending quest to understand the universe and our place in it. YOU JUST CANNOT GET ANY BETTER THAN THIS IN TODAY'S WORLD OF FILM SO QUITE FRANKLY NO I WILL NOT "CHILL MY BEANS". I LIKE 'EM BETTER HOT !!!

I think ancient astronaut "theories".....ugh, that's giving them too much credit....are BS. I don't believe for a moment, that beings capable of interstellar conveyance would land on a world inhabited by "primitives." What would be the point? Teaching them how to carve/pile-up rocks? WTF for? It's an inane idea. No, there'd be nothing we could offer such beings to which they wouldn't already have easy access, and there'd be nothing they could offer us that wouldn't FUBAR any terrestrial culture. I mean really, the very first thing we'd do, is set about finding ways to "weaponize" whatever they shared with us. So no, I could buy observation, but not deliberate, formal contact. Even so, I have no problem with using that notion as a plot-device in this movie, any more than I had a problem when it was used in "2001." I'm not married to ideas I've had about this movie, any more than I am to notions I've read on here. My expectation is that the story will be good, simply becuase after more than 30 years, Ridley Scott finally read something that worked for him, and he risked sullying the reputation of his classic property, by choosing to revisit the universe it spawned. I don't think he made that decision the least bit casually, or without good reason.

haha - I like your passion, and share in your excitement of what might be and hot beans but lets face it - you and I still havent got a clue what this film is about or how it will play out (no seriously - you dont know) - and therein lies the rub. Whereas you are placing full confidence this is going to be a nailed on masterpiece, experience has taught me to tread lightly - ive been letdown so many times before. LOST was absolute garbage in my opinion - im hoping Lindelof is not the weak link here - I have seen and particpated in some great storyline speculation on these boards - believe me, I know how great this film can be

...and all I am saying is this film is going to KICK Butt , Big Time !!! The Least of my worries is, well, I really do not have any, it is 100% abundantly clear to me that this film will be more entertaining to watch then just about every single film I have seen in the last 50 years! The trailers alone are so unbelievably cool and hip and stylish and exciting and just plain well made that I cannot see what it is exactly that anyone else would need in order to feel excited for it's arrival and happy and joyous and free and to be convinced that This is a Must See cannot Miss Type Film !!!

Spaihts has claimed that his original story remains intact, and that Lindelof was brought in primarily to focus on characterizations/motivations. That doesn't mean they both couldn't have screwed the proverbial pooch, but I think it's unlikely, given what Scott has been willing to risk by going back. Like I said, I think chances are better than even for a new classic. That isn't a slam-dunk, fo sho, bet-the-farm position.....but I will be much more surprised if it sucks, than if it's very good indeed.

He also claimed the fake leaked script was Not his at all, Denied any knowledge of it and attributed it to "a jealous and frustrated and rejected screenwriter" yet incredibly, many of the very ideas in it are already appearing in this films' trailers. I believe him that the story is in tact, but I think he knows way more than he ever said about that fake leaked script attributed to him which I still have...and I am willing to bet a lot of the ideas from that thing were in the end incorporated into this film...no matter who's ideas they were or who gets the credit.

yeah youre right - im being a debbie downer on a side note - what got me amped about this more than anything else (I dont think Ive ever joined a fan forum for a movie ever) was the pitch change in the trailer half way through...the siren and intensity it was portraying was palpable ..fair to say I was speechless. Lets just say that some of my trepidation around teh story will not be around teh narrative per se - I should have more faith - but a very real fear (excuse teh pun) that the trailer promises something that I dont know it will be able to deliver effectively if its going to get the rating that I think it will. What sacrifices will be made in the script and direction simply becuase spotty Norris and his schoolmates get to see it too? anyway - probably for a different thread, but still related to my point around Lindelof - he specialises in producing enterainment for exactly the same demographic that I dont want this film aimed at

Personally I have complete "faith" in Scott and I hope he keeps Lindelof on track. Never watched Lost, I could never get into it and from what I heard it was un-enjoyable and just not that great. However, going off of the Prometheus trailer and the marketing on the Project Prometheus site etc. the movie should be amazing, and hopefully Lindelof will keep to the only thing he is really good at, in my mind, characters. The Alien 'Franchise" has been my favourite and Scott has been my favourite sci-fi director for sometime and I hope Prometheus lives up to our expectations.

jp, Sorry if I was tough to deal with over all this...I have to say I really respect you for being very diplomatic about it {you kept your cool even though I know you did not really want to} but I also RESPECT YOUR RIGHT completely to your concerns over the script...i am sadly jaded by the fact that I took two very reluctant friends to see Alien when it came out in the theaters and the reason I insisted that THEY GO even though they did not really want to at the time was this...It was early 1979 and My father at the time, the end of February I believe it was, took me to NYC with him to see the Irwin Toy, Toy Show at the Hilton Hotel on Broadway. They had just acquired the top company "Kenner" in a major acquisition and were given the rights to a new doll to mfg using "Kenner" as the Brand name but under their {The Irwin Brothers} supervision. Long story short My Pop says, "Come here a sec", so I walk over to the sample display table he is standing in front of and he reaches under the table pulls out a semi-long rectangular box and places it on the table in front of me. HE says to me..."This is for a movie coming out in a few months called "ALIEN" and it's gonna be Huge", then hands me what is the very first Protoype of an ALIEN doll ever made...that of of a Xenomorph. He then reached into it's mouth and pulled out it's Jaw and I freaked and have been ATTACHED PHYSICALLY TO THIS FRANCHISE EVER SINCE THAT DAY! I do not think to this very day My father ever realized just how Prophetic a thing it was he said to me, I don't think he had any idea at all, just how Huge this thing would actually become!!! Needless to say those 2 friends Mitchell and Barnett are still my good friends and they are going to the premier of Prometheus with me this time and hopefully to Vancouver to see it with forum member "Ruhiyana" {from these boards} of their own free will this time and to help me celebrate my 50th, which is one week later on June 15th. Wow - respect mate, thats a beautiful artefact. And no offence taken - in fact quite the opposite. I truly admire your passion and unwavering doubt on this - me personally, I have my ups (generally when new info / trailers / viral campaigns come out) and downs (lack of new info, too much thinking, negativity setting in), but Im quite impatient and although I never like to read spoilers....I cant help myself. So its simply down to not knowing enough about this film thats driving me crazy RS has something very special for us I am sure - theres a lot thast being kept hidden from these trailers just as they were in the original. http://www.imdb.com/video/screenplay/vi284858393/
