Probably been discused, BUT the sound effects from Alien and Blade Runner are similar at certain stages!
For instance in Alien when Ripley is commuting with Mother before the Ash attack and in Deckards appartment when Rachael appears, has an incredible (hummmm)
I'm sorry but I can't really put that into proper words, but it's almost like a Sir Ridley signature!
If that same (Hummmm) is in prometheus I just may wet myself!!!
I'm really hoping it's there!
Anyone else got any thoughts on how RS is gonna leave small but recognisable signatures on Prometheus?

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 9:19 PMi knew someone else was thinking that. its that wooooOOOOOOooooo repeting. not sure what its is but i think some enviormental ambient sound, kinda like white noise. i also think its a signiture that ridley has used in both movies. and i can almost be sure that it will be in prometheus albeit in high tech audio. if u listen u can almost here it through out the movie (the quiet parts atleast)

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 9:32 PMAnother little 'easter egg' (if you want to call it that) occurs in Blade Runner, during the scene where Gaff and Deckard are in Gaff's spinner car, on their way to the police station early on in the film.
The screen in Gaff's car displays the word "Purge" and it's the same display as the one shown on the screen in the Narcissus as Ripley is escaping from the Nostromo.
A few moments later there's another graphic on the screen which is the same as the one showing on the Nostromo's monitors when it's separating from the refinery (when you hear Ripley say "umbilicus clear") before they begin the descent to LV-426 in "Alien."

It never appeared in any of the later (and lesser films IMO) It created an almost palpable stillness.
Scott imbedded this stillness in Bladerunner and it weighed those scenes so perfectly. I just hope Prometheus has this stillness in it too.

MemberOvomorphApr-20-2012 11:03 PMAgree, punx. Too many ADHD/ADD types have made too many movies WITHOUT the stillness and the silence that it takes to REALLY build tension and climax nowadays, cuz, the audience is too busy waiting to answer the next text message, or facebook post, or whatever worthless addiction they're attached to at that second, INSTEAD OF GETTING ABSORBED INTO THE STORY LIKE THE DIRECTOR INTENDS...

MemberFacehuggerApr-21-2012 12:33 AMDNA Crossover, could'nt agree more.....
That tension building to climax has been lost nowdays.
When was the last time you sat in a movie and got that moving ultimate revelation moment?
Alien had it
Shawshank had it
Fight Club had it
Inception end flight scene had it a little
Hope prometheus has it in bucket loads from the RS Stamp............

MemberOvomorphApr-21-2012 2:22 AMCylon, I posted a similar topic on (abandoned for me) IMDB board
about this very thing a long time ago. It's a lovely, eerie and very subtle sound like an hermaphrodite human sighing of subdued ecstasy (or sorrow?) and somewhat erotic.
If this is incorporated into Prom I'll be a happy bunny.
As DNA says, it conveys a subtle unbearable tension which had an effect
on the audiences of '79 and '81, but it may seem boring and 'so what' to today's loud drums, smash n scream crowd.

thats important in Horror, too..
