Couldn't find this anywhere recently or otherwise... lock freely if it's been discussed. Are we missing something obivious? The woman looking biomech figure giving birth... it's the derelict. The shape is also very reminiscent of the Egyptian symbol of "KA" translated as "soul or spirit". Ridley is a fan of the "all about everything" theory... right? I began thinking of this based on the other thread about the "derelict as a meatphor". There will be tons of cross-religious metaphors... yes? Collating...

The ship is alive, biomechanical indeed, so when the jockey places on his suit and sits in that chair, he becomes one with that ship is flying, not only can he fly it but have the ship create the cargo and exactly how much he needs of it....

My epic post just diasappeared wtf While it is generally agreed that pyramids were burial monuments, there is continued disagreement on the particular theological principles that might have given rise to them. One theory is that they were designed as a type of "resurrection machine

@ Ronster: Hey man, I've posted this on other threads too. About losing your posts... If you're signed in and you begin to write an epic post (which usually takes thought and time), your sign-in will expire because the site doesn't know you've spent all that time writing and thinks you've been dormant. My suggestion is to ALWAYS copy your text once you've written it, then hit the "submit" button. If it works... great. If it doesn't re-paste what you copied and submit it. Hope that helps.

Thanks... Yes theres an awful lot of creedance in the book of the dead... But having read about the location or a part of the archielogical dig petra has been revealed.... It does tie to eygpt as petra came later but trying to find out how this correlates together hieroglyphic script was held to have been invented by the god Thoth, and the hieroglyphs themselves were powerful. Written words conveyed the full force of a spell.[19] This was even true when the text was abbreviated or omitted, as often occurred in later Book of the Dead scrolls, particularly if the accompanying images were present.[20] The Egyptians also believed that knowing the name of something gave power over it; thus, the Book of the Dead equips its owner with the mystical names of many of the entities he would encounter in the afterlife, giving him power of them.[21] The spells of the Book of the Dead made use of several magical techniques which can also be seen in other areas of Egyptian life. A number of spells are for magical amulets, which would protect the deceased from harm. In addition to being represented on a Book of the Dead papyrus, these spells appeared on amulets wound into the wrappings of a mummy.[17] Everyday magic made use of amulets in huge numbers. Other items in direct contact with the body in the tomb, such as headrests, were also considered to have amuletic value.[22] A number of spells also refer to Egyptian beliefs about the magical healing power of saliva The path to the afterlife as laid out in the Book of the Dead was a difficult one. The deceased was required to pass a series of gates, caverns and mounds (pyrimid) guarded by supernatural creatures.[39] These terrifying entities were armed with enormous knives and are illustrated in grotesque forms, typically as human figures with the heads of animals or combinations of different ferocious beasts. Their names—for instance, "He who lives on snakes" or "He who dances in blood"—are equally grotesque. These creatures had to be pacified by reciting the appropriate spells included in the Book of the Dead; once pacified they posed no further threat, and could even extend their protection to the dead person.[40] Another breed of supernatural creatures was 'slaughterers' who killed the unrighteous on behalf of Osiris; the Book of the Dead equipped its owner to escape their attentions.[41] As well as these supernatural entities, there were also threats from natural or supernatural animals, including crocodiles, snakes, and beetles Basically it was a type of purgatory the spells were used to ease the passage against these encounters to await final judgement by osiris son of nut. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_the_dead

This thread has seemed to me the most significant one on this forum. I googled around a bit and found: http://ioannis.virtualcomposer2000.com/writing/Derelict.html which is a very interesting article about the topic of the thread written in 2011. Once pointed out, the similarity between the derelict, the goddess nut of egypt and Gigers nut (xeno lifecycle) is so striking its impossible to ignore. One thing i couldnt quite make fit was the placement of the vaginal entrances on the derelict. However Gigers Nut not only copies the bending egyptian godess nut on hands and feet, but also can be viewed as a female spreading her legs giving birth...the placement of the vaginal entrances now fit. This is where my skin begins to crawl considering Shaws painful scream 'please'. The derelict is a bit of a horrorstory in itself.....but that article i linked to describes it better than i can.

I find this thread to be the most significant/insightful one on the forum so far. I did some googling and found this great article from 2011: http://ioannis.virtualcomposer2000.com/writing/Derelict.html Its a must-read for anyone interested in the derelict. Once pointed out its impossible to ignore the similarities between the derelict, the egyptian goddess Nut and Gigers Nut (xeno lifecycle). What i couldnt make sense of was the placement of the vaginal entrances on the derelict, but Gigers Nut is not only a copy of the egyptian goddess bending on hands and feet (with an egg emerging from her belly). It can also clearly be viewed as a female spreading her legs and giving birth. The placement of the vaginal entrance on the derelict makes sense all of a sudden. This is where my skin begins to crawl considering Shaws scream of agony.

I agree best thread I seen on here... Basically if you follow the egyption gods mythology all roads seem to point to the God Atum and Heliopolis as where it all starts Atum is one of the most important and frequently mentioned deities from earliest times, as evidenced by his prominence in the Pyramid Texts, where he is portrayed as both a creator and father to the king. He is usually depicted as a man wearing either the royal head-cloth or the dual white and red crown of Upper Egypt, and Lower Egypt, reinforcing his connection with kingship. Sometimes he also is shown as a serpent, the form which he returns to at the end of the creative cycle and also occasionally as a mongoose, lion, bull, lizard, or ape. n the Heliopolitan creation myth, Atum was considered to be the first god, having created himself, sitting on a mound (benben) (or identified with the mound itself), from the primordial waters (Nu). Early myths state that Atum created the god Shu and goddess Tefnut from spitting her out of his mouth.[1] In the Old Kingdom the Egyptians believed that Atum lifted the dead king's soul from his pyramid to the starry heavens.[2] He was also a solar deity, associated with the primary sun god Ra. Atum was linked specifically with the evening sun, while Ra was associated more with the morning sun.[3] But Petra has been given as the location of the dig although they shared ties with trade with cairo / heliopolis and is not so far away petra again is based on funery temples and idolising the dead. Tributes to the great dead.. This picture which is of the high palce of sacrifice in the mountains of petra does bear resemblence to the hole on the derelict or the sky dome

Might need debunking that petra in Jordan is not in africa it is actually asia so somthing is not right and does not add up Achielogical dig in africa would point to Eygpt and I think the description of petra as a dig is possible but it's not in africa but perhaps leads them to a discovery in africa perhaps Or the filming locationis simply is in petra somwhere but we are led to believe that they are in africa doing a dig is more likley

Hey I like what you guys are posting about Nut etc. You are right on target. The scary thing is when you think you can figure Giger out... If you like puzzles, here's one I tried, but got stuck. I think I started off on the right track though...think of the 'runes' as concepts, much like hieroglyphs..good luck... I totally agree this is the best and most insightful thread I have ever read here on this forum or anywhere else on the Derelict, Alien, Giger, SJ,etc ......all makes perfect sense. I have the Blu-Ray Anthology with its hundred odd hours of extras, etc and none of that comes close to the revelations I've learnt here. This thread should be mandatory reading for all members ......they would love it! db @ thanks for starting this discussion. galacticnorth @ your link ....http://ioannis.virtualcomposer2000.com/writing/Derelict.html was brilliant and I reckon that you should post it as a new post so that no one misses it...........I think the author is spot on and this is what we will see in the film.....imo

As interesting as this picture is it could take years to decipher a language so really what it says is not so important but remeber that I posted before about eygptian beliefs about writing and spells in the book of the dead... So remember that it was considered to help the process of passing to the afterlife a sort of purgatory the inscriptions on the tombs of sarcoffugus (yep mimic of a SJ cryochamber or whatever it is) take power away from hideous creatures that could cause harm before there atonement / judgement before osiris (A Space Jockey God). So if the ancient eygptians buried there dead in a similar fashion to a SJ cryotube they might consider it give longer life or even resurrection and would naturally copy the fact there are inscriptions around them... Giger is definatley onboard / also Chariots of the gods uses these examples of US Airmen that landed in the pacific in WW2 the natives beheld the US Military as gods because of the aircraft, weapons, technology and goods they brought to the island as they had never seen any thing like it before as they were isolated in the middle of the pacific. Later they would worship them on the abandoned airstrip and build fake planes out of wood begging for them to return to them. i.e. this is the same effect But I hope the translation is given on the Blu-Ray set

Look uner the H E U S of prometheus that does look exactly like an eyptian sarcofugus the Cryotube thing and the hieroglyphs basically back it up with more evidence So they mummified them i.e. they embalmed them in Preserving liquids I wonder what the substances were they used it might give us some insight into what is in the ampules apart from the biomechanical ooze of life I think this might need further looking into along with the ancient pyrimaid texts also which I have not touched yet Thought I would add the image of a sarcofagus and again the inscriptions on the body off the coffin mimic the SJ Chamber / Cryotube / what ever it is

Ok looked into the Ancient Pyrimid Texts and they basically mirror the book of the dead but are more primitive so nothing here... And the Embalming process was not using liquids apart from to wash the deceased it was actually a process of drawing all the moisture out of the carcus as well as removal of organs... The Substance used was called Natron which is basically similar to Sodium Bicarbonate. And was a salt found naturally deposited in the region of the Wadi tribes. But also interesting was that people cared for the dead as though they were still alive and could still feel what was being done in this process to help the pharohs become as gods themselves. So I guess this has turned up at a dead end unless Space Jockeys suck all the moisture and everything out of a being including it's organs there there would be little to link to here and it still remains to be seen what they do to organisms to extract their essence / Spirit and DNA... It could be a possible use for that snout they have lol

In feel the cahmbers surrounding the cockpit is possibly where they would put life forms that they wanted to mix together or extract from rather than the cryotube desriptin... If these chambers suck you dry of all your inards and go towrds creating a new life form this would make more sense that the Eygptians were trying to replicate a process that they had seen first hand... As there is alot of evidence that the chair the Space Jockey organically joins with not only makes him part of the ship but is also part of the creation process.
