MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 8:48 AMI'll go on record and say that the music is what would be expected for this; a "preview to a trailer". (Is there such a thing as a teaser to a preview to a trailer?)
The original trailer was meant to do exactly what it did. Mirror in sound and visuals the mood for the original ALIEN film (watch them side-by-side if you doubt that).
This "preview" has racheted up the music with the epic-sounding "rising choir vocals", etc...
while still incorporating the orginal audio elements from the original trailer.
I've done some soundtrack work and would expect Saturday's trailer to be complete balls-to-the-walls epic visuals and audio, with an expanded version of what we've just heard, or perhaps something even larger in its aural scope.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 8:56 AMas far as I am concerened the Blueray DVD of this is the REAL FILM, and NOT the ONE THE SUITS and their GREED are shoving down our throats on June 8th. If I were Scott, here's what i would have done. i would havbe mede this thing as dark and horrible as possible at 18+ with an R rating...and told Giger to "Go Nutz" make 'em as sexualy deviant as you want...and then told the SUITS...screw you, I'll use 250 Million of my own money and make you all look like fools, PLUS I will take constant shots at you through the film for destroying or trying to destroy or unintionally trying to destroy the credibility of this entire franchise with your stupidity.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 9:47 AMOh god, I am trying so desperately to avoid any new footage of this movie... but it is SO difficult not to press my damn mouse button. Gggrrrr. I wish I could jump forward in time... :-(

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 10:06 AMI love it that they show more but still withholding the best for June cinematic presentation.
Ridley did exaggerate when he said most of the film will be shot with physical effects. The shot of the ATVs speeding off is all digital, as is the drop ship landing And I wager there will be all digital shots in the movie. They look fantastic though. Lotsa Dutch angles that Scott is not known for. I really miss the physical effects in older movies like STAR WARS, 2001, and EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. I think those days are really truly truly gone. The digital look is still too mushy for my taste.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 10:11 AMI think what he said was he was going to "never go back to regular cameras and shoots, and that everything done from this point on would be done using 3D technology". I do not recall him saying anything other than that but if you say he did he must have so can you find the quote you are referring to please so i can follow you here? Tx.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 10:58 AMCan't help thinking how in the world the chestburster ends up in the Space Jockey's body.
But I'm pretty sure that the "mutant guy" will end up being related to the creation of the classic xenomorph, I have no idea how. Even less how the Space Jockey gets the "embryo" that people would get from the facehugger in the Alien saga.
What seems clear is that once the Space Jockey is attached to the chair through the biomechanical suit, he cannot move from there any longer.
I'm also wondering if the chestburst occurs after the alien spacecraft gets rammed by the prometheus......

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 11:07 AMI have to agree with other posters that the music is a bit to grandiose and doesn't set the right tone but i can overlook that for a trailer of a trailer lol.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 11:22 AMcool teaser & something nice to hold me over till the trailer this coming saturday lol
my only gripe is i want some dialogue. visually so far this movie looks awesome. im very curious as to how the dialogue is going to be. we've been given so little so far, idris elba screaming "nooooo", & repace saying "you dont understand, we we're wrong, im sorry". thats not a lot to work with, & if the next trailer is shorter than the first trailer, i think i read its going to be about a minute long, then theres not much dialogue they can squeeze in. hopefully the ridley interview on saturday may touch upon the dialogue...........i hope.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 12:05 PMThe suit looks quite similar to the being we see in the SJ cockpit room.

MemberTrilobiteMar-12-2012 12:18 PM@ Jim Jimmer - No offence but in the original trailer when the cargo bay door opens you can clearly see the outline of a structure reminiscent of Gigers "Harkonnen Castle", surrounded by walls, spotted by myself and then verified by the likes of Sparky, BMand Frantz (and them 3 are not easily swayed).
Remember, this was never used (except for some Japanese TV advert) because the Dune project that first brought Dan O'Bannon and HR Giger together fell through. It is obviously a posthumous wink to Dan that it is being used in what is considered his best work; Alien.
Furthermore there is footage both in the trailer and the teasers for the first trailer that also show the interior of the temple.

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 3:55 PMWhere's this "new" script everyone is talking about? Dangit! I can't see the trailer preview either!

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 4:33 PM@snorkelbottom - none taken, but like I said lets just wait for the trailer or the film before we start saying things are fact. I've already said I dont doubt that there is a temple or cavernous structure of some kind, but lets wait until its confirmed properly.
Just because your thread has been debated dosent really mean anything, all you have is an outline that resembles Gigers production designs for Dune. Its certainly an interesting theory, but for now thats all it is...

MemberOvomorphMar-12-2012 5:56 PMThat might be the most generic sounding trailer music ever. Just awful.
