why on earth would they show this in the trailer

i looked at the thread not convinced but i could very well be wrong.

I think "Alien DNA" was figuratively speaking, not literal. And the line is, "No, I am your father."

Yeah I mangled that quote in more ways then one. 3:17 am and I have insomnia yet I am exhausted. I am actually one of the few that doesn't want it to be figuratively. I want a great stand alone story, not a true prequel. The last thing I want is a chestburster or anything from the established movies.

i was intrigued by scott saying he is embarrassed by the film when asked if there will be shocking moments like in alien with the chest burster he replied oh yes absolutely.. i'm embarrassed because its really quite disturbing. ( or words to that effect)

I thought it was just one scene he was embarrassed by? I'm pretty sure that is the moment Shaw has the....whatever the hell it is [by now i am sure most people have seen the stills/gif of it] c-sectioned out of her, umbilical cord still attached. At least that is what I think it is. The gif of that I find just....unsettling on a lot of levels. I'm kinda surprised they would show that in the trailer. It shows clearly one of the creatures, and gives away quite a bit of a pretty fucked up subplot.

i got the impression there's a lot of unsettling moments in this film which begs the question yet again will it get the r /18 everyone wants.

I really don't think anyone we like is going to make it out of this movie alive.

There is going to be more stuff going on after the Derelict crash. I would think with the limited oxygen, both Shaw & Vickers would seek in, gulp, the alien craft. It is shown they could wander around the temple/ship without helmet on. It is here where they would confront more monstrosities which some speculated as the Jockey's or the Engineer's vicious pit bulls. David may turn out to be a villain of some sort, or a megalomaniac with power beyond his grasp. The ending may reveal how life starts on Earth, and how the Jockey fossil was there on LV-426 when Nostromo bumped into it. Just guessing.

think of it this way, the Nostromo blew up in ALIEN, but that was by no means the end of the film, Ridley is brilliant that way i'd guess Ridley will have an amazing epilog in PROMETHEUS

Every trailer I have ever seen never shows [i]at least[/i] the last half hour. Considering how tight lipped Ridley &co have been, (I can't remember a film where the cast and crew have been visibly nervous about saying too much), it is safe to say the full trailer(s) haven't spoiled all major plot points.
