MemberOvomorphMar-20-2012 4:37 AMHi all
Been thinking about the film title "Prometheus" and the obvious conection with Greek mythology....Prometheous stole from the Gods and was punished by having his liver eaten by an eagle. He was then healed so that it could be eaten again and again and again.
What if the Space Jockey is being used to host and give birth to the chest bursters and then healed to do it again and again?
What if the humans take technology from the 'Gods' and are then punished / killed and healed ?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 12:58 PMI think the Space Jockey is a biomechanical interface suit that connects the Engineer to the ship.
What if the scene we are shown is reversed footage? The "telescope" comes out of the floor, the big Engineer guy sits in it, and then the suit then forms around him - interfacing him with the ship.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:15 PMConsider this: SJs (Engineers) - a higly evolved race of alien beings (scientists/geneticists) who collect DNA samples of alien species from throughout the galaxy and store them in chambers located in this planetoid. One chamber for each species. Each chamber has a representation of the species it belongs to, hence the Human-like face carved in stone. When prometheus crew arrives the facilities have long been abandoned by SJs due to biohazard danger (outbreak?), explains mummified remains seen in trailer (engineers that died from infection from one of the dna samples?) Prometheus crew unaware of the fact, become infected as well with different results. One mutates into veiny guy (guess is P. weyland). He has his own agenda, tries to take alien ship to earth (the Titan stealing fire from the Gods to give it to humanity). The rest of the crew try to stop him, crash Prometheus against alien ship as it takes off. Shaw gets infected by her partner (crossbreeding), gives birth to human/alien hybrid (first face hugger?) Face hugger impregnates another member of crew, first Xeno queen is born, lays its eggs inside the crashed alien ship.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 10:54 PM1. They find the temple with the cylinders.
2. They get "infected" by some DNA-changing Substance
3. Shaw gets "pregnant" by her friend (who has unfortunatelly also been infected)
4. The "baby" is born but is somekind of "wired octopus-beeing"
5. The octopus changes into engineer
6. The species died long ago, but "waited" for hosts to come to bring them back to life
7. now they are back to life, and humans are hunted as there can only be "one god"
voila - maybe, maybe not. Maybe its much simpler than this...

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 4:00 AMWhat I think is that this follows close to the story of newt in the book series and the comics and I mean that as in the elephantine race or "space jockeys" are Terra formers of dead planets so a bit god like. If anyone has read the books they know that earth is dead and another elephantine tells newt he plans to Terra form earth into a living planet again but I digress, I think the goo is the Terra forming stuff and thats why the humans want it more to the point Wayland wants it but as always something goes wrong alien appears reeks havoc and the elephantine in prometheus become the the very same one in alien one and the crew dont make it and Wayland covers it up and later sticks a colony there so he can get his wish. Samples and live specimens, anyone else thinking the same?

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 8:27 AMHere's another theory:
-SJs true purpose is to colonize other planets capable of sustaining life.
-To this purpose they created a bio-weapon (the xenos) to be deployed on inhabited worlds and wipe out the indigenous species.
-After the species are wiped out they terraform those planets to suit their needs.
- Prometheus crew finds out about this and tries to prevent earth from suffering the same fate.
In the first ‘ Alien’ Kane finds a chamber inside the derelict ship where hundreds of eggs are kept in storage, therefore the eggs are part of the ship's cargo and were being transported somewhere. There’s a thin mist covering the eggs that reacts to Kane when crossed , kind of like a security system. The eggs appear preserved and the huggers inside dormant. When Kane touches one of the eggs he starts some kind of reaction, the egg opens and the hugger attacks Kane. It's like the eggs ‘activate’ when they come in contact with other life forms. It’s safe to assume they pose a threat even to the SJ’s themselves, hence this “containment” area with the security measures in place.
The derelict ship was probably en route to another world when something went wrong that caused it to crash land on LV-426. In could be a different ship/planet/SJ than the ones in Prometheus. LV-426 is a barren rock compared to this planet - Ash even refers to its atmosphere as ‘primordial’ – with severe weather patterns and probably uninhabitable.

MemberOvomorphApr-05-2012 1:23 PMThe problem with that last theory is that THIS is NOT the same ship that we see in Alien. There is a definite difference in the "Star Chamber" layout.
I think the eggs in the first film were not supposed to be there. They infected the Humanoid, burst out of his chest and the Space Jockey suit he was interfaced with, and then laid those eggs.
The Aliens as we know them are the product of the Humanoids and the Alien DNA, and then a human with the Humanoid/Alien DNA. But if the Alien DNA infects us directly ... the outcome would be a lesser form of the Aliens.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 1:24 AMwell, as the alien spaceship in the trailer will be shot by prometheus and crashes onto a planet (LV..?), it's kind of logic that
- from the alien planet, someone flies away with the alien spaceship - towards earth??
- if target is earth, someone wants to stop this - prometheus follows the ship and distroys it on LV..
So to the timeline...
- humans combine information of wallpaintings all over the world to find the destination of their gods/makers
- humans go there because of curiosity and higher goals of weyland corporation like power, technology, knowledge
- there they find the temple with the ampules and do some research
- as they arrive, they are beeing infected and "change" to something, maybe the Alien Civilisation is gone long time ago and the temple was there to "wait" for some created civilization to come, get infected and the alien race grows again?
- as there comes to a conflict (obviously... this is a scifi-action-thriller..hehe) vickers fraction wants to steal technology for weyland interests
- mutated crew member (who is now the Spacejokey) wants revenge and navigates starship of aliens towards earth to destroy mankind
- prometheus follows and destroys alien starhip
- on the lonely planet, after some time alien bursts through chest of space jokey and puts the eggs into the chamber we know from alien 1

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 11:05 AMWith the film's details on the down-low, I don't like to speculate too much as to how Scott is going to situate the race of the Space Jockey within the context of this new story that has been described as, "containing Alien's DNA, so to speak." I'm guessing this alien race somehow had to do with the development of the Xenomorphs, seeing as how it's warning beacon was being sent out to Nostromo in Alien. If I'm correct, the distress beacon was actually a warning heeding nearby ships to NOT land. Of course, the Nostromo decrypts this message far too late.
I'm really excited. From the trailer, there's obviously going to be some epic reveals, especially concerning the human race's establishment as a species. I've always loved the Space Jockey: the idea that we were not the first to discover the terrors of the Xenomorphs has always peaked my curiosity. Also, the fact that the Space Jockey is being called "Engineer" makes me think that this race, or sect of race, may specifically be bio-engineers of either the human race or the Xenomorphs. Select shots from the trailer reveal egg chambers that look like science labs: more refined, cylindrically shaped test-tube-like structures serve as the Xenomorph eggs, someone is shown fiddling with what looks like Xenomorph saliva or natal fluid, someone is heard screaming CUT IT OFFFF!, a woman is shown struggling in front of a mirror with what appears to be interior physical pain. All of this is pointing to something important involving the Xenomorphs. What it is, I don't know. But I can't wait to find out. Thank you Mr. Scott for taking this step and expanding upon the Alien universe in an inventive and innovative manner...that is something hard to find in this era of rehashes, remakes, prequels, and sequels.

MemberOvomorphApr-06-2012 5:49 PMIf you could create life, why would you care? The assumption of good and evil is something that man kind has created. It some ancient texts there is no hell and no devil only a "god".

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 2:02 PMI think everybody is WAY off base here...it is quite clear from everything we have been permitted to glean from the facts AS PRESENTED by Mr. Scott and Co. that what follows is undeniably the "bones" of the Prometheus movie:
The Space Jockey is the one God, Jehovah. After crapping out the human race, he punishes HIMSELF by having Cartman eat his liver everyday for eternity...but he leaves himself an avenue of escape by planting star charts on earth so one day David the Android butler can find the Primal Goo and use it to stop Cartman (and possibly Butters) and save the universe.
There. Now nobody has to see the film. And you can all remember how good Alien was...and how good the script was...old alien gets nailed by the hostiles and sends off a warning, etc...

MemberOvomorphApr-07-2012 8:58 PMOk so I haven't read through the other posts yet but wanted to contribute my thoughts before they were skewed by others perception. I have been a huge fan of the aliens saga (particularly the colonial marines and that ironically was a driving force for me to join the USMC,... Also coincidently the roles cast for those characters came out of the novel starship troopers which was much better than the movies portrayal.)
Anyway,... Needless to say i was intrigued with the mythology aspect brought up in the beginning of this topic. Mythology is based on real world perception and typically he re-telling of epic deeds or catastrophic events to retain oral records.
Based on the trailer and subsequent truth about the nature of the chest busters it is my thought that the space jockeys or engineers were onviouse remnants of an advanced space fairing race. The aliens themselves would appear to be a sort of biological weapon that is used by these space jockeys to control their dominance of other sentient life. It would appear from the trailers that once an advanced civilization is detected by the space jockeys they unleash the alien swarm to decimate the population. The survivors of these past attacks must have used the cave pictographs to establish a record of what had happened to them. It could be theorized that once the population was suffcieny decimated the race of space jockeys would then use the conqoured world for material resources. Except it would appear as if they eventually accidentally lost control of their super bio weapon and it caused their downfall,...

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 10:17 AMNew Spin-off...Greek mythology (I am Greek..not that I hold any copyrights:) ) suggests that Prometheus (actually Prometheus in Greek comes from the word Prometheia=Supply, so Prmetheus is the Supplier ...the one who brings things to somebody else), so Prometheus then is a supposedly human of good intentions, trying to steal a technology from Gods who, for some reason in this myth appear to be distant and uncaring for the humans. There is also a feeling of distinct creation levels...what I imply is that the feeling of ancient Greek history is that Gods were not loving creators and fathers of the human race...Well , they schemed like humans, they had passions like humans, they plotted they hated etc. And the clear distinction is : Gods and Mortals...A God would never refer to a human with the words "my child" or so... but rather as "You mortal! How do you dare talk to me". You get the picture. So poor Prometheus dares to steal a very useful techonlogy that would help the human race from what appear to be cruel and ingnorant to human needs Gods. Forget the basic Christian principle of Love here. So in this view, we must think of the Promethues Gods the same...uncaring, hard, selfish, and ones who enjoy their powers for themselves and for creating creatures not out of love but out of their need to manipulate them to get to their goals. So if...and I say if Space Jockeys are the modern Prometheus then two things might be happening: first they are either creation of the Gods like us humans, who accidentaly fell into the same trap of the Gods, long before us, and they let the pictograms to warn us, not to go there, and they did so, like Prometheus, when they discoverd that the nature of the Gods in malevolent. And it appears that they do this out of love for other intelligent species, creations of the same Gods as well. It's just that we have misinterpreted the pictogram message. Needless to say that they discovered first what we are going to see in this movie, meaning the alien DNA, grey matter whatsoever, that seems to be the key weapon of the Gods for "crowd-manipulation". Case two: They are direct "sons", creations of the Gods, who worked in the business of creating new worlds, so they knew the know-hows of creating life with the use of grey matter etc. And maybe they worked as slaves for the Gods. They knew the malevolent nature of their Gods but wouldn't or couldn't do anything about this. But as soon as they realized how the Gods manipulated everything to their best interest maybe one or some of them became concious enough to go against them, and since they were more sensitive to the creation chain they tried to steal the secret, so they could stop creating new slaves or helpless puppets and victims for the Gods (they could even have wanted them for food!), thus letting their selves exposed to the wrath of these Gods...sacrificing in a way themselves for us!. Maybe even invited us there to give us this secret to fight against the Gods as the Space Jockey race must have already been beaten. As for the original Aliens,...maybe this was the product of the grey matter and the malevolent nature of the Gods combined to create the weapon of choice for destroying worlds. Now, maybe that's just a cheap excuse why these creatures are always so hard to kill on screen and on PS3.:) (That was just for fun). Ok I stop somewhere about here and I hope you liked it and haven't gotten too much tired while doing so. Best regards. I would be glad to have any feedback from you. In two months we will know!

MemberOvomorphApr-09-2012 4:01 PMafter reading many posts on this site i can see many people who are going to be very disappointed when this film comes out.because expectations are so high that people forget that its just a film, and as a film it has to follow a certain path a tried tested formula.i for one hope that it will be a great movie,up there with alien which as you know was also a film that followed a basic formula and bare bones plot...but for the love of god please please please keep james cameron away from any sequel as in my opinion he started the rot of the franchise, ruined the look of the alien and turned it into some kind of easily killed bug

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 7:21 AMnew theory for the plot I thought I'd put out there after reading a few. The space jockeys technology clearly looks like its based on bio technology. The ships look organic and the chair grows into its occupant amongst a few uses of bio technology (not to mention several other bits of evidence in the trailers).
There ships also look alot like an alien hive on the inside. Maybe under space jockey control, xenomorphs can be directed to build their hives into space jocky ships and structures. So Aliens are kind of like the SJ slave work force.
Secondly maybe the space jockeys are originally evolved from a virus or bacteria (kind of x-files similar plot I know), the black ooze found in the pods in chamber with the big head. This ooze/virus infects other races and mutates them into space jockeys. A race that uses other races like that to reproduce would have no trouble with using other organic life as a kind of resource to build up their spaceships. Plus we know they are old (LV-426 space jocky was fossilised). Bacteria is one of the first forms of life. Imagine how much it could have evolved if we're talking on the cosmic scale with billions of years.
So anyways I see it as something kind of like intergalatic farming for them. They leave clues on primitive worlds to wait for the population size to get advanced enough and big enough to reach a dormant SJ ship. The human crew's curiosity leads them to being infected by the SJ virus/DNA and becoming a space jockey themselves. The space jockey goes back to earth to "farm" us like a good alien farmer culling his herd. Some humans are infected to reproduce space jockeys. others are infected by aliens who make more ships under SJ control to spread to other worlds and repeat the process.
Other thought that popped into my head. The space jockey suit also looks organic in nature. if the SJ use other species to reproduce and grow their technology maybe one guy gets infected and slowly turned into an organic SJ space suit, while another gets infected and turned into a just a space jockey (the blue head guy in the trailer), hence some differences seen in the clips of mutated crew members.
Thoughts and opinions on this would be muchly appreciated fellow film geeks.

MemberOvomorphApr-10-2012 8:45 AM Hi all, Having seen 4 pics showing David7/8 at the consoles and the Blue Man i imagine that David has come across the Map Room, activated the green orb and when
he leaves it activates a sarcoffigus and awaken said blue man who then operates the
console bringing up the jockey seat which has suit already built in that then envelopes him. This bears in mind that most pilots of aircraft have oxygen masks fitted above them for emergencies and that it being a space vehicle that environmental protection is paramount.
Also the cryo containers have on three of them a hole similar to acid burn just at chest height but not the third which blue man exits, are they contaminated with a xeno type form, indeed there is all likely hood that Blue/Jockey's are the creators of genetic bio lifeforms that not only creates life but solid matter hence bio formations on ship

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 12:07 PMI honestly believe you guys are fooling yourself's. Please be respectful to the minds involved into this story... Ridley Scott and H.R. Giger...Both where and are wonderful Artist.... Alien was the outcome.. not the vision.... Proto Xenomophs would be a correct guess...But also Understanding Giger's views in Bio Mechanics...its was his mind alone that brought what you see today... Ridley Scott has found a story that Honers Giger...and to bring his creation to life... As for the space Jocky its nothing more then a Space Suit...and clearly by the trailer alone you see someone changing not into but trying to exscape his own death.... Xenomorph simply wasnt just sitting inside but changing the DNA ..what your seeing is Gestation... So....Every King Die's, and this one escapes death, and threw biotech, and careful planning calls out for new DNA, and Gets his wish, But How dose one excape Death By becomming something New... Remember if Ripley was never cloned we wouldnt know they have genetic Memory..... Bottom Line is sometime's it takes more then running from death, and you dont always get what your looking for but in the end some Kings where better off dead, Becuase its takes a Queen to Rule...Yes that was a hint...Word Play in front of you the Whole Time....Good Luck Fans

MemberOvomorphApr-11-2012 9:48 PMWell, man could be Prometheus. We already have Wayland saying he is god. He sends the ship to god. The crew steals something and is punished.
Still, the cave paintings don't make a lot of sense unless it is a trap.

MemberOvomorphApr-12-2012 8:52 AMwhat made the derelict/space jockey, from the original ALIEN movie so great, was that it was so alien, so unknown and unlike anything one would expect in space...i'm afraid by trying to explain/define/clarify it in prometheus, the mystery explained ruins everything that was great in the original ALIEN film.......
i liken it to a short story my S. Lem, where an astronaut encounters an alien spacecraft that flies by. The mystery and alieness of it, the fact that it has probably been flying through space for millions of years is the mystery that makes it so fascinating.......
When an artist takes away the spectators use of their own imagination and interpretation, then you're left with an average result....alot of special effects and a ready made to watch on DVD.......
