If you look to at the creature's absolute right it looks like the head of a chestburster. To the left it looks like a tail! I don't know, that just what it looks to me. Thoughts?

Jesus - I think this is going to be one helluva a horrific film. Could put that scene from 'Oh you lucky man' in the shade.

My thing is: if the Aliens were created as a result of us meddling on LV 426 in Prometheus, then what is that wall relief that represents a "crucified" alien? The "base" creature must have existed prior in some form. It does resonate as a good weapon... it uses the DNA of it's host to give it equal advantage, and it's body grows to reflect and blend in with the environment that it's in. That thing certainly does look like a chest burster but it is a hell of a lot larger and seems to lack a mouth. The umbilical chord was on regular chest bursters as well, though. It may not be cannon to this film, but Alien Resurrection showed an umbilical attaching the chest burster to Ripley...

My take on it's removal is she figured out what was inside her on her own and used the autodoc to remove it. if you watch the trailer you also notice her stumbling down a corridor after the removal. My guess is she left to find help then she collapsed at the room with other crew members.
Also remember the first trailer where they show laying in the autodoc and she screams "please!" The auto doc may have warned her of the dangers to it's removal to either her or it and she pleads to have it taken out.

How about she got her abdomen scarred from before, like a bruise from all the fighting? That would explain luring her in the autodoc...and the chestburster is just dangling in her face, to be PUT IN...when suddenly someone stops the procedure and opens the sliding glass panels

Could this thing be the big bald guy? I'm taking the xenos extreme growth into consideration. The xeno, per Alien, was full size within 3 hours. The big bald guy when approaching Shaw looked normal human size. However when he is summoning the Jockey chair he looks even bigger.

i'd say it was definitely removed from her womb via robotic c-section,
i don't think we will see what we now know as the ALIEN face hugger
on another thread, someone suggested that perhaps Shaw gave birth
to what could possible become an alien egg, due to the fact that the
base of the multitude of alien eggs in ALIEN have similar tentacles
like the ones in the creature that was removed from Shaw

Talking about being depurate for an Alien movie? Now seeing chest bursters? Wow I see another disappointed Alien fan when this movie comes out. People this is not an Alien movie – hello. Aliens are a product (end result), like humans of seeding with this DNA or bio pre life form. We, humans just happened to cross paths with a ship that happens to have an Alien life form on it and we became victims of that Alien life form. I telling you that this movie is about our origins, humans not chest bursters or face huggers or Aliens laying eggs etc. I am so looking forward to this movie because it will raise more questions about our beginnings and leave us asking more when we leave the movie. Sir Ridley Scott is going to look at the scientific theory of our beginnings in conjunction with the ancient stories and records and add a touch of SciFi, horror, suspense, drama and action with amazing visual effects. Maybe, just maybe in a sequel (if done) to Prometheus he will get us to the point of our friends on Nostromo running into the crashed ship and our beloved Space Jockey and friends.

I might seem provocative here: It's not an Alien prequel but an Aliens prequel in the sense that Ridley has went to change the name of Weylan to Weyland hereby establishing a connecting vein between two, or at least what may be two very different films.
