@Danrald ...
Like it ... he's had time to think about what he wants to do ...
Think about this too ... Weyland named him David because he reserved that name for his human son, if he was to have one ... so is he saying no Dad i want to go my own way? ... :) ...

It definitely sounds as if he is assuming change in himself. The question is change to what.
A. He desires to be human
B. He desires to be more/better than human
I'd venture a guess that this internal conflict is the fulcrum balancing the third act of the film. It may be that he has to become something different than what he originally hopes, a sacrifice for humanity, which poetically proves his own humanity.
But that's a lot of projected imagination.
What can David become from his small beginning?

it gets clearer now, I think this room is definetley not in the derelict as there could be many other ships like the derelict ..
But I could imagine at the end of P a derelict that shipwreckes on LV-426..

I think something wrong, so wrong, happens to David during the third act because he doesn't appears on any scene during the derelict take off and further crashing of the Prometheus ship against it. I can conclude that something happens to him inside the derelict ship or in Prometheus before taking off. I'm not quite sure if he could mutate into one of the big humanoids in blue suit that we're calling Space Jockeys.
Talking about the Space Jockeys, someone here said that there are three of them because of the holograms and the four sarcofagae (with a fourth SJ beheaded who was found by the crew) so it matches the assumption. But I'd like to point out that in some of the early pictures there's clearly a bunch of corpses gathered on the floor in a corridor against the wall and they look huge, bigger than humans. I'm not talkinga bout the three SJ suits or statues standing close to the gate. My assumption is that those SJ are dead by the humanoid (s) and he (or they in case there are more than one) have taken control of the ship, perhaps sending out the signal for humans to investigate, like a bail to catch them up.

It seems to me that the holes show that something burst out from the inside. This indicates to me that the other 3 Engineers who were in stasis on this craft were likely impregnated as hosts at some point with with xeno embryos (presumably by face-huggers) and died while in their “sarcophagi.” This encourages me to infer that the xeno ‘remains’ that have been spotted here and there in the dark corners of the corridors were killed by Engineers. It seems that both this craft and at least the one SJ from 1979 had very unpleasant encounters with xenos.
The fact that the writing on the urns is NOT the same as the standard Engineer orthography also suggests to me that the xenos may not have originated purely out of an Engineer test tube. It smells of even internal bio-mechanical warfare to me. If the eggs from 1979 are "cargo,” then the xenos (as we know them) may be even partially ‘alien’ to the Engineers.
The holographic animation of the Engineer running could easily be from archive footage of a battle between Engineers and xenos recorded by the automated systems of the craft or the “monument.”
The story becomes even more layered and complex but remains mysterious... :•)
Thank goodness!!

"The fact that the writing on the urns is NOT the same as the standard Engineer orthography also suggests to me that the xenos may not have originated purely out of an Engineer test tube. It smells of even internal bio-mechanical warfare to me."
Then under what motive?
"If the eggs from 1979 are "cargo,” then the xenos (as we know them) may be even partially ‘alien’ to the Engineers."
I think I'm not the only one who'd like it to be a fact.
