Whooo aaarrre you?

I am an English and creative writing professor at a small college. I take it I am one of the few ladies on here. I am not exactly tech savvy nor am I into gaming. I am a film snob. I love the original [i]Alien[/i] movie and I am beyond excited about [i]Prometheus[/i]! I don't typically get this excited about a movie, but I can hardly wait for June.

I am an electrical engineer and computer scientist. I am also an extra class HAM radio operator and licensed radio technician (GROL.) I am an avid gamer and lover of science fact and Science Fiction.

I'm self employed Wood crafter/Wildlife Gardner by day and Musician by night

I'm a student right now and an actress-wannabe. But in real life I think something about uhm.. geology,maybe? Maybe. I don't live in someone's basement, I'm not a snob, but I like playing games if I have some spare time. Fallout 3, Skyrim, Dead Space (first is the best, 2nd is okay) and uhhhmmm.. I really used to like GTA Vice City.

Prom-Queen: I teach English also, but in public schools. How about hooking me up with a nice, little community college gig? I'm too snobby for K-12.

I'm a carer for my daughter (developmental problems), Media Studies graduate, naturally talented artist/writer with on overactive imagination, high IQ and avid gamer (mostly Gears of War 3 ATM).

Oh yeah a straight male and MAJOR NIN/Trent Reznor fan too!

Wow this thread has some legs - I always wondered what everybody did! I'm an IT guy but Industrial Designer by trade. When I grow up I want to direct Sci-Fi movies!

Dallas, My hats off to you for teaching public schools! I couldn't handle it (the helicopter parents would drive me nuts). I am only a snob about movies and books. I joke with my students about the crap they watch and read.

i'm a 46 year old male I work for a company that makes high end audio equipment and top end hi fi exclusively for the wealthier market And before anyone asks no i'm not in that category . The company is audio note uk. Spare time is made up of various hobbies film history, and making electronic based music , reading sc fi, and watching films and model making/ art . I used to write for a magazine called dream creation, which focused on the psychedelic music revival in the mid 1990s and we used to organise large parties in hackney London, and Brighton, getting some of the worlds most prolific producers and djs in the scene to play live for us or perform a dj set. The parties were called enlightenment and were very successful but also completely wild . We were the chemical generation. I have a passion for all things psychedelic including the experience itself and all things related. Also i am into pharmacology, and Ethnobotany i should of been a chemist or botanist.

Longshoreman LA/LB Harbors....no, I can't get you a job through the back door, those days are long gone. Dutch is my real nickname at work but I'm not from Holland,... L.A. native here. Lifelong movie fan thanks to my grandmother who took me to my first opening day film, Spartacus (still have the hardback program) and many, many more, all the big ones. I've always followed directors, not actors or genres. ps- forgot to mention I have a screenplay like everyone else in Los Angeles...no, its not done, next week maybe, lets do lunch on it

If you see my ship chillin on a deserted planet, do not, I repeat DO NOT attempt to come help me! There's a large chance of infection if you do. I'm doing you a favor, trust me. Anyways, I gotta go....my indigestion is REALLY acting up right now and I'm gonna go look for some antacids before I turn on this warning beacon to "stay away" .... peace out

I'm a plumber by trade and film geek by nature. Not as impressive as others so there you go.

Thanks, I'm glad someone enjoyed that..lol But seriously though, I went to film school in my early twenties and now i'm an 'engineer' (no pun intended) for a local engineering company in Houston that makes parts for large oil firms. I'm also gonna be a first time Daddy this upcoming Wednesday. I'm a hardcore fan of this genre and an even bigger fan of cinema in general. I'm a bit critical of what I expect in film's but love when film makers do things that set precedence like Ridley Scott did for Science fiction early on. I'm an outside the box thinker when it comes to what i think Scott is doing with 'Prometheus'. I'll do my best to respect everybody's ideas, but.........some of you are 'wrong, you are so wrong' ;-)

Congrats on the brat ;-) pun intended there too :-D and you're definitely right about Sir Ridley's impact on the sci fi genre with Alien ;-) and welcome to the board :-)
