CrazyDave55811March 30, 2012I think I'll stick with others' opinions that they should release both an R and PG-13 version in theaters.  I don't see why Fox wouldn't do such a thing, though I don't think movies are often released like this, possibly due to budgetary excuses or something.
If they release both types, I'll go to the R-rated version, because I believe that by being rated R the movie will provide the "maximum effect", whatever it will be.  A movie doesn't have to be bloody & gory to be rated R.  The PG-13 version would just be something open to a larger audience, though it makes me think that they're trying to "pass something on to the new generation", kind of like what they're doing with The Expendables 2 by rating it PG-13, but that's just my opinion, and I have a rather low opinion of the next generation, but I won't go there.
