Space Jockey head/helmet?

It was actually shown at the teaser in 2011. There are lots of threads about it and for what we have seen at the very last trailer it is a sort of helmet.

Yep going by the last scene where you see something on the Chair thats not there when the SJ is seated in it, makes me think its 100% a mask.

Helmet?? Why would they be examining a "helmet" in a medical bay?? That has NEVER been my take at all. The head to me appears to be actual flesh and you can see the actual mouth structure, eye sockets, etc. The Helmet (as shown in the SJ still right on this very homepage NEWs section) is something entirely different altogether.

I feel like the picture on the homepage is showing the same thing as in the trailer where I specified. I don't think it looks like a helmet either, but I could be wrong.

I just want to know why theyve got a helmet on a medical table. Or maybe it isnt a medical table and is actually something like a science examining table instead? Would make more sense.

End of the day we just dont know and wont know untill the Movie comes out. It could be a mask with the head inside as in one still on the internet you see a Space Jockey with no head on the ground. Looking at the scene of the Jockey in the seat it apears to me that its a mask and a Bio Mechanical one. So its not a case of they found a Helmit like a man made bikers one, the Helmet could be most likely organic. The Science team would be intrigued even at the finding of a Helmet. If we landed on Mars and found a pair of Alien Space Boots are we just gonna ignore them and say nope leave it we want what wore those boots. Again from what i have seen potentially this head/mask has been picked up at the scene next to a fallen SJ Body. Whats the alternative? that indeed the SJ are large Elepant looking beings. Then what of the Blue Guy in various parts of the Trailers?

Nice pic CanadaPhil. If it is really just a helmet, it sure looks life like. I guess that's what Bio Mechanical kind of implies though...

It looks like a severed head. It could be right after they sent those orbs through the tunnels (the ones with the red lasers) that this was in fact the life form they picked up on the scanners. Point is we've received a lot of information concerning Prometheus through trailers, interview, magazines and it is GREAT (yet at the same time somewhat frustrating) how little we actually know about the story and plot direction it will take us. Yes we have many many MANY theories about this film but in the end they are just theories. Very interesting thought provoking theories from many intelligent members of this forum. You guys keep my anticipation of this movie at an all time high! Thanks! Hopefully it will speed up the release date for this movie lol

@jimp... Yes, but isnt it obvious that that is VERY different from what many describe as the "helmeted" pilot. To me, that looks to what is actually UNDERNEATH the "bio-helmet" which forms around the "pilot" when seated.

Wow! It never really occurred to me how big these things are going to be.

I dont really have anything good. The seated jockey pic right here in the NEWS section (which is actually a still from the trailer) is the best/cleanest one I know of.

Geeez... now this topic got my mind racing on this and another light bulb went off in my head. Is the dark veiny appearing areas on the SJ head/skull? with the darker ridge on top not sort of remniscient of the pale veiny "humanoid" withe lumpy sort of head shown at the beginning of the "waterfall dawn of man" clip????? Oh crap... he I go again...lolz.
