It looks like its on a medical table of some type which makes me think its a head, but I've heard that those are just the helmets they wear. Sorry if this is old news that everybody already knows about. Can anyone share some input with me on what they see on the table there?

Why I am still shying away from the idea that its "just a helmet" and something basically just like us (but bigger) is underneath simply that ergonomically, it simply doesnt jive with our structure.
Why would a "helmet" have a mouth opening structure that doesn't in any way articulate like our mouths actually do??
Why would it have eyes that are not only set way farther apart than ours, but even appear to almost be on the sides of the face??

I cant take credit for that picture i found it on the internet.
Before this movie released any stuff or info, apart from maybe the Space Jockeys will be in it.
I did wonder if they would go with the Space Suit rather than Large Creature, if you look at some of the fan made concept work the Space Suit ones looked cool, the Creature ones not so and the Comic had them as a Elephant Creature and they sucked.

I am sure Ridley said Space Suit and Bio Weapons a long time before we even saw Alien 3.
Remember who designed the Alien/Face Hugger the Jockey and Derelict and the Architecture...
It was all based off HR Gigers work, look at his work and its a perverted mix of Flesh and Machine.
Here is the Alien Cycle Art Work.

You see the idea they came with the Egg, Face Hugger and Chest Burster from? Well tell me does those beings look like a Giant Elephant looking Humaniod like.

Regarding the size and potential of David being the one thats in the scenes that becomes Space Jockey and sits in the Pilot Seat?
Well here is a image again where you see David in centre and Jockey in back ground and by that it would apear to be much larger than David

Yes indeed there is a scene with Shaw and what apears to be legs of a Space Jockey but the size is off, this one does not look 10ft tall etc.
Maybe those who think David is the Jockey could be partial or even completely right.
So here could be a explaination.... look at the picture above where David is in the Cockpit/Bridge you see a Space Jockey in the back ground, you actually see 3 in the clip.
Now what if they confront David and some how they change him? Maybe he longs to be more Human and not just a Machine and the Jockeys grant him that gift and then Stick him in a Space Jockey Suit... (now maybe these suits can shrink to fit its wearer? ).
The Jockeys then give David a mission, this could explain the difference in size to the Space Jockey that seems smaller that attacks or scares Shaw?

Just couple of thoughts about the picture of David in the cockpit and the blue guy:
1. The blue guy could be standing behind the pod thing that's close to us, thus he's much closer to us than David which makes him look huge.
2. I'm not sure but what if the blue guys in that scene are actually holograms and David just sees a playback of some event... they do seem kind of too blue in a way and have pretty much the same tone as the starmap.

To me the head/helmet/skull/ always resembled a pilot's helmet with an oxygen mask (trunk=oxygen mask (or whatever it is it is breathing)). Just my 2 cents.

I see the logic in this conversation but a couple of things-1)The blue guy is only seen in it's entirety in the chair room.2)If he molds into the chair, then why are the suits hanging in a hallway?3)the new chair has a control panel under the right hand of the "new" space jockey, whereas the original chair does not have it.
