Space Jockey head/helmet?

I think I'm starting to lean more towards the idea that the thing on the examining table is the skull with no flesh on it due to decay over time. The picture on the homepage is what the skull looks like with flesh. What do you think?

Here is the guy who walks over to the seat after activating the Pilot Chair to rise up. These are standing up here with heads on. 1) Are these Statues and why? 2) Are they actual lifeforms that are in some kind of hybernation? 3) Or are they just Space Suits used by the Blue Men. Here..WE...GO.....I believe it's a helmet as Ridley has, several times, stated that what we see in that chair in 'Alien' is a suit: "...Alien. It’s fairly pure. And this one does actually raise all kinds of other questions, because if someone could, a being, could be as monstrously clever to create something like we experienced in the very first one – I always figured it’s a weapon, and I always figured that [the ship in the first Alien] was a carrier of weapons. [img]http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/l546/aliennaire/Prometheus/blue_guy1.jpg[/img] I hate to brake it to you fellas...it's a helmet and probably one that's been there for hundreds if not thousands of years, which would explain the missing eye glass and its present conditon...also, there the possibility of it being biomechanical which would contribute to its organic appearance.

Those look more like they could be masks. The trunk like things look a lot bigger, like they are where the trunk of the space jockey actually sits inside. They also connect to the chest, maybe as part of the breathing system for the suit.

I guess we will only know when we see the movie. But dont forget we need to remember that potentially the Space Jockeys do not use Materials like we do, their Materials are most likely Bio Mechanical thus organic thats why the Walls look Organic and the do on the Derelict Ships. What in real life uses Bio Mechanical Materials for either a Suit or a Home? Snails, crustaceans. And if you got a Snail and it died over time when the flesh inside has gone the Shell will remain but it will not look as colourful or vibrant as it was when the Organism was alive. The same goes for Crab Shells etc.

They still need to explain the Snuffleupugus trunk! hahaha

@craigamore.. Also, my take on your last pic link (green orb "Blue Meanie") is that THAT is NOT a "real" Space Jockey at all, but something entirely different. This is the situation (I believe) that sets off Shaw's concern about something bad about to happen... but its not a real jockey... Too small... more human head... and has EARS!!

I'm still not convinced on anything, but there's a lot of great ideas here. Can't wait to find out for sure in June.

If you actually watch the scene of the Jockey in the Chair over and over in slow motion. You will see that the Chair attaches istelf to the Jockey, we would assume that after the snout will then also extend out more aswell. As i said i think the Suits are themselves a living organism in a way, hence Bio Mechanical. Look how Starks suit attaches to him in Iron man, i think this is how the Space Jockeys suits attach to them only their suits are not Metal but a Organic Material that becomes fused with the wearer. But as many have already also pointed out, WAY TO SMALL to be a "real" Jockey as we think of them.

If the Engineers utilize Biomechanical tech then the object on the medical desk could be both. By this i mean both a head as part of a body and also a helmet, if this is the case then if separated from the body it would die which could be why it looks like bone....i think you can make out what looks like the joining lines as bone plates meet between the things eyes. Also it could still be a helmet and thats where the big blue guys come in.......it would be cool if these suits roam about un-occupied running off some simple instincts given by there builders. What if the pic of the dead Jockey and head is just that and they just fragged him and are looking at its head and trying to figure out if its a mask or a head?? " there's nothing in it man ? Like 10ft tall. The Movie draws some links with the Titans, it shows Sumerian and Egyptian Tablets. Now all of those beleaf systems had not a God but Gods and these Gods looked like Man just double our height. I think thats the connection Ridley is trying to make.

And... sort of OT rambling here... What is going on in that dead body scene.. Looks like a last stand from a determined Temple defender? (appears to have huge doorways that something has knocked down??)

Yes thats a interesting thing, you see it shows what must be a Jockey with his Head Cut Off maybe? (by head as in Head with Helmet on). It would take some kind of beast to decapatate a 10ft Humaniod. Or could the Head not be off just Helmet Fell off, if so how come they never tried to move the SJ body to the ship? Or could it be a complete empty Space Suit and Helmet. The only way we will know is when the movie comes out, or Alex Jones Spills the beans lol.... but what did he say about May 21st last year... Rapture lol.

My take = I like where you are on this @BIGDAVE, the S/J's have bio-machanoid suits, the helmet has skull material with flesh over it as a suit and helmet that molecularly "adheres" to the subject like a living flesh wetsuit. If the host dies, the suit being living organic material dies as well because it is still "adhered" to the host (like the facehugger dies after it disengages with it's host) unless it is "programmed" to come of for later use. And the trunk it a breathing apparatus (organic material as well), that attaches the pilot to the chiair, (i.e. the ship), and that is why we see the helmet-(skull material) on the examination table----prometheus doesn't know what it is--skull? or helmet--which is why it's in the examining room.

I cant shake the idea that the blue guy is David after some sort of metamorphosis. Its the jaw line i think it reminds me of him. Also in one of the trailers there is a shot of Shaw sat on the floor in a corridor of ( i assume ) Prometheus and she is not looking like its a good day, there is a human stood looking down on her and this human has some funky leggings on that look just like the legs of the guy in craigamores pic A so i think that means that at some point an SJ gets on the ship?? dunno... think im seeing it right ?.

I agree with that too @jonesy, the one on the prometheus looks way smaller than the bald guy, soooo, it conception is..it has to be a morphed david or halloway?

a plausible reason the helmet is in the med bay is due to the fact that they believed it to be a SJ skull due to the organic nature of it and upon discovering it's bio-mechanical makes them giddy for the possibilities tech they have just discovered EG, regenerating/customizable bio-armor
