MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 1:19 PMA bit of a misleading title, but not quite, let me explain...
You know that feeling you get when something is one the tip of your tongue that you've been trying to remember/solve, well I'm getting it with Prometheus. Here's the pieces of the puzzle...
1. At least 5 Harkonnen Castle inspired temples, presumably each one with a big head and lots and lots of mysterious ampules.
2. A big pile of dead Space Jockey's

3. The Derelict, underground in a purpose built hangar.
4. Shaw giving birth to an unknown organism.
5. The Xenomorph depicting mural.
6. A big, blue humanoid inside the Derelict and attacking the crew.
7. A mutated crew member attacking the crew.
8. An Eel/worm based organism infecting Holloway.
9. The crashing of the Derelict.
10. The invitations left behind on Earth.
11. The UFO at the waterfall.
12. And finally, Ridleys comments in Empire magazine about an intelligent race on Earth before the fossil record.
I have all/most of the pieces of the jigsaw, but its just a hairs breadth out of reach, I know if I can just find the common thread I can figure this out...

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:20 PMthe goo between davids fingers has to be some parasidic dna cause it is the same substance that is in some type of dish on top of one of the urns as one of the crew members looks it over and there is a scene where david has his face over the same goo but it looks as if it is dancing check out the trailer.....i think this substance in its original form can bond with anything synethic or organic maybe that is why the space jockey is a biomechanical being like the goo fused with david ....maybe that is him in the begining scene where the voice says "every king has his reign, then he dies..."

MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 2:21 PM@ Sparky - LOL
@ Fanboy79 - the leaked trailer showed Shaws stomach inflate suddenly and a umbilical cord can be seen in the new trailer.
@ biehn_bandit - I also suspect the war is over.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:24 PMOr it was neither invitation or warning, but the doing of the artists who created the pieces. The dot formation is buried in the human subconscious, crossing cultural lines. The artists themselves didn't even know what it meant, but they were compelled to put them down anyway.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:29 PMThe goo is the same stuff the Xenomorph secretes to build eggs, walls, cocoons. We see in Aliens how it begins like a gel and eventually hardens to something resembling fiber class. How do you think they were able to convert the atmosphere station into a hive?
I believe Shaw is using the med station on herself. Why create such a device for a film and not have it relate to the plot in some significant way? I believe she detects this thing in her body somehow, whether through feeling or seeing it under the skin, and uses the med statiion to remove it.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:30 PMOk so the war is over, maybe that can help account for the severed head in med lab...LOL.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:31 PMokay lets work on the invitation or warning theory here...one thing is for certain......some other life form once maybe not necessarily inhabited but visited our planet, that being the case i dont think invasion is accurate because they had already been here hundreds and thousands of years ago. what we have to consider here is that at some point we have developed the technology to travel eons away trips that take years...this particular journey takes 5 years travel time.....

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 2:36 PM@ biehn_bandit - I agree on the goo, its not important, but a sign of life.
@ Sparky - My thoughts exactly.
Well one things for certain, the temples are Space Jockey in origin. I just rewatched one of the new trailers and the same markings found on the temple walls are also found on a switch that opens a door - David in front of door with a red scanning orb hovering beside him.
So why would the UFO guys invite us to/warn us from a SJ planet.
and what of Ridley's comments in Empire magazine, about an intelligent race on Earth, before the fossil record.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:38 PMi think its good not to assume shaw gives birth or has something grown inside of her cut out. there could be numerous things going on there but i get the feeling that weyland and vickers are behind it. i do remember reading about charlize theron having an idea for her character that they used in the movie. i dont remember how it was worded because it was almost a year ago when i read it but, she described it like a plot twist for her character arch. as if there was a different motive for her character all along, and thats why ridley put her in the corner of scenes and made her look like she was "lurking". anyone else remember reading that? maybe this needs its own thread.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:39 PMSnorky...In just asking you hit/slapped that biaaaatch...a "warning"...why...they have some vested interest in Earth! Maybe they need some element they are running out of or some same ol same ol like that.

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:40 PMAre we convinced that the big blue dude (or dudette) is evil? I know we are led to believe that by the trailers, but I hate to jump to that conclusion just yet.

Snorkelbottom, time travel has been a big topic of conversation in the threads. Could time be a thread you seek?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:46 PMI just made a massive observation/connection
The Brownish/Blackish Goo...is Present On the King That Dies !
Right at the start of the new Trailer he is exmaning his own hand and that's the exact same Goo That we see on Shaw and on board Prometheus.
So the same fate that fell upon prometheus fell upon that King and his kingdom !!!
A Ha... A Clue Sherlock...

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:47 PMSince I began responding to a few posts here (not quite a week ago) I have been speculating that there are in fact 2 very different races at odds here (not including us).
I think there has been a hell of a lot of misdirection in the Trailers. I dont think Ridley is completely stupid in that he is going to give away the story in a two minute bite.
I do believe that there is a MASTER race if you will and one which are like indentured servants or outright SLAVE's, but I just cant put my finger on what the SJ is yet.
But it would seem incredibly lame if after 33 years the answer to that mystical dead thing in Alien being just BLUE GUY that looks like James Arness in 1951's THE THING. Sorry.. I just think that would just be a completely LAZY bit a writing on this productions part. I think Ridley is goint to try for a complete mind screw here.
And then you have Giger making a comment along the lines of .... "There is going to be something new and it will be VERY GRAUSLICH!"... Ummm OK.. It must take something completely freaky for someone like Giger saying its going to be very horrible.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 2:51 PM@ fanboy79 - Dead Jockey's pic added to OP
@ odmanout - An umbilical cord attached to the "thing" and a suddenly inflated belly (leaked trailer) suggest pregnancy. The Vickers thing was mentioned (and has been discussed, a lot), its probably a ruse to lead us to suspect that she's the second android, thus I suspect she isn't.
@ Sparky - When? Who'd I slap? and Warning/Invitation is what we trying to figure out, could prove important.
@ prom_queen - might not be evil, but the trailer seems to suggest that at the very least they have ill intentions towards us, but why?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:56 PMSNORKY WROTE-->
So why would the UFO guys invite us to/warn us from a SJ planet.
BINGO MAN YOU NAILED IT!!! YOU B-SLAPPED IT... BECAUSE THE SAME FATE BEFELL THJEIR KING !!! ONE OF THOSE RACES WAS GOOD, THE HUMAN KING PREDECESSOR RACE, AND ONE IS PURE TERRFORMING EVIL...THE ENGINEERS/SPACE JOCKEYS/BLUE GUYS

Biehn_Bandit
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:57 PMThink of it this way. They keep saying this is going to be an epic. Having your cast of alien beings being a big blue guy and a couple of infectious organisms doesn't seem very epic or terrifying to me (in horror film terms).
But throw in something that can cut Space Jockey heads off. Maybe many somethings. Why is there a hologram of a blue guy running? Is he running around causing havoc (like planting bombs or something), or is he running from something?
If you were Ridley Scott, and you had access to whatever creature designers you want, 150 million dollars, and H R freaking Giger, would you settle for a bald blue guy and a worm going into some guys costume?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 2:58 PM^^^^
Further to above, it you add to that the pick of the headless body and the gateway with the Temple Head in the background, this almost looks like some form of "LAST STAND" on these creatures parts. There appears to be a bashed in doorway in the pic of the headless jockey discovery.
I think the pick of the pile of jockeys in the OP are part of this same sequence.. That that hallway or corridor is just to the left of the headless body scene.

MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 3:01 PM@ freeze him - the time travel element came about for two reasons - 1) peoples misunderstanding of the theoretical effects of FTL space travel, and 2) the "it looks fossilized" comment by Dallas in Alien. FTL will not cause travel back in time, and as Ridley has stated and shown, what we saw in Alien was a decayed suit, not the skeletal remains of a long dead creature (hence Dallas' assumption it was fossilized). Also I think there's enough going on here, time travel would needlessly confuse the story even further.
@ Sparky - Nah, not the goo. If you look at the "king" in the trailer look at the top/back of his head, whats going on there then.
@Canadaphil - a possibility, could the UFO guy's and the SJ's been in an alliance, if so why send us to a world inhabited by the SJ's?

CanadaPhil
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:04 PMThat is the big question.. but it could be that somewhere along the line, one species eclipsed the other. The invitation is from around 100,000 years in the past??
The ones who became the "overloards" were not really aware of us, until we unwittingly happened along.

Biehn_Bandit
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:06 PMOk, throw in mutated crew members too. Still not very epic or terrifying to a movie goer in 2012.
Anyone want to challenge my theory about collective sub-conscious the artists being responsible for the dots? Am I over looking something that would make this impractical?

CanadaPhil
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:08 PMI did not want to post me whole take just yet.. I was going to wait until just before the premiere, but I think the wow factor of this movie is most probably going to be that the freaky life cycles depicted in Gigers artwork are not just going to be the basis of simply a "look" that the art director decided to pick just for the heck of it back in 79, but those surreal depictions are actually going to come to life in this flick.
Seriously, I think we have all been missing the clues.. Some of the freaky elements, new eels, whatever, are taken directly from Gigers art. I dont think anyone can deny that.
AND.... hint, hint... Study Gigers print "Hieroglyphics" for a bit, and see if you have a lightbulb moment of sorts.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 3:10 PM@ canadaphil - good point, the invitation/warning is old. A possibility, but the temples are SJ in origin.
@ Biehn_Bandit - the Epic, I agree, wheres the EPIC in all this!

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 3:14 PM@ canadaphil - I'm a big fan of Giger's art, no light bulb there. His designs are def still a factor of the mythology, but not the key.
@ Biehn_Bandit - genetic memory is a possibility, and would fit, but the question is why? why have the memory or be given instructions to visit/avoid a SJ controlled planet?

Spartacus
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:15 PM"Snorky" he has The Goo all over him... and IMO... it's what Killed him, they {His Predecessor Race} try to warn us {Thus the time travel element} - {it's not us - it's that predecessor race that can time travel}and fail, 'cause we misinterpret the entire matter and take/steal some some of the vials which in turn creates the scenerio designed to end the existence of earth as we know it, except The Company, which sees all through Vicker's and David's eyes arranges... for that delivery of Earth's certain demise to be intercepted. What we are left with is a rotted Dereiict laid Baron on LV-426...One dead delivery boy... And a Pack of Vials turned to "Xeno-Eggs" beneath it !!!

CanadaPhil
MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:16 PMfirst obvious one...
The FEMALE form IS THE 'DERELICT' or any SJ vessel for that matter.
Actually, Im gonna stop there.. Hahaha... Gonna wait until I finalize all my thoughts before I lay it out completely.
My main issue to resolve was that my assumptions were based on the XENO as we think of it not quite existing yet, but now Im not so sure... Im am now even leaning towards the idea that the "new" Overlords that have not been seen yet are in FACT THE "PROTO" XENOMORPHS.. hmmmmmmmmmmm.

Gavin
MemberTrilobiteApr-04-2012 3:22 PM@ Sparky - your reaching now, the "king" looks primitive, and whats infecting him doesn't seem to be hurting him. But I do believe this guy is important, but look at the features on his head (top left of frame).
@ canadaphil - female form in lifecycle mural for Alien = Derelict. Yep, too obvious I think we can agree, but go on... I suspect the Aliens are old, remember the Mural how can it depict a creature not yet in existence, but is it a "don not enter" sign or a "hail the Xenomorph" icon?

MemberOvomorphApr-04-2012 3:27 PMI talked about 2 races days ago lol.
Plus.....we cant really tell if that pic IS a pile of dead Space Jockeys.......referring to the creature from the original Alien.....which i think forget it we aint gonna see one cos Ridley sold us out with blue stupid men wearing an elephant suit.
I know the scene where you think Shaw gets either inserted (oops sounds porn like) or gives birth to the squid thing.
I can say that in the Prometheus Trailer 2 HD that we see somebodys knees in a glass pod with a grapple kind of instrument go zooming down to the feet end.....knees raised up as if it is indeed a birth scene......next cut is torwards head end where it reveals shaws face with dangly tentacles in front of her face......then next cut is the pod opening with a definite organism in the grapple.
I should point out that there is also a scene of Shaw waking up on a table then attacking a scientist in a bio hazard suit with a blunt object.
