The blue dude is not an SJ and I can prove it.

I know some people consider the blue dude from the trailer to be an SJ but let me convince you otherwise. For the last 30 years sci-fi fans have wondered about the SJ. Where he was from, what he looked like, what he was doing on the derelict. Since RS confirmed that the movie would be about the SJs fans have been excited hoping that their questions will be answered. Now that the movie is almost here it’s still shrouded in secrecy with the cast and RS refusing to give away any of the plot line. With that in mind, can you really imagine that RS would give the game away by showing us the SJ in a trailer? It’s entirely unlikely he would unveil a 30 year old mystery so casually.

Yeaaaah. Think about the Derelict skeleton. The skull alone is WAY to big for any of the scenes we've seen with Mr.Blue to be considered a SJ I said it a few days ago, Ridley claimed the aliens are weapons Mr Blueis probably the equivelent of a bio-car key imo . I think that NoXWord hit the nail on the head with the ALIEN trailer refrence. Plus you can see a skull being scanned in the Theatrical trailer that in NO way resembles Mr Blue. It looks exactly like the SJ from the Derelict. No i think Mr.Blue is a result of some creepy bio-tech crossed with Holloway at the hands of the real SJs.

Plus id be super pissed if the SJs look like an 8 foot blue guy with a big nose. Sounds more like a charecter for sesame st.

Well, a Star Trek blue pharaoh is not that great an idea either. I'd like SJs either to have trunks (they DID have trunks in HR Giger's original concept art, although I don't think that proceeded any further than some very rough sketches). Or, barring that, to look like nothing we've ever seen or could begin to imagine - like the feeling elicited by seeing the original xeno for the first time back all those years ago. Not the effing Star Trek blue pharaoh.

So wait.......Reality check.....We already knew that the "Alien" SJ was essentially humanoid. We didn't know what his lower limbs looked like, but he was bilaterally symmetrical, and had two arms and hands just like ours. I suppose he could have gotten around on spider legs or a bundle of tentacles, but with a humanoid upper torso?......talk about mythological/cheesy!.........with that upper torso, a bipedal morphology is actually the least nonsensical alternative. Then we have an elephantine skull and trunk, directly attached to ribs, all of which, I think, most of us assumed was bone. So, at the end of the day, we're left with gigantic, humanoid, elephant headed aliens, who presumably have to turn their entire bodies to see anything. Mmmmmkaaaay I'm Just sayin'

Maybe they evolved beyond the need for quick movements? Maybe their tech allows them to compensate for stuff like baby legs.

You haven't convinced me, I'm afraid. Although it may be a particularly big deal to you, I can imagine a case where openly showing the Space Jockey in the trailers is exactly what Scott would do: the case where, in the wider scheme of what could be a movie with a substantial run-time, a Big Reveal of "The 30 year mystery of what the Space Jockey really looks like" is actually of little actual significance, or consequence. If you are correct, maybe you should look on that possibility as potentially a very good sign.

Ok what if there are no SJ? The derelict is the alien? What ever it gets to visit it the ship makes it its slave? A sort of mind control?

Personally, I think the blue guy is the SJ. I am also surprised, however, that Ridley would reveal him in the trailer, even in the teaser. Never expected that. UNLESS..... the guy sitting in the chair wearing the biomechanical suit is not really the blue guy as I've assumed.

TheNextLV426, BTW, nice attention grabbing title. Whether you can really prove the blue guy is not an SJ or not, the topic you chose was interesting enough to get a lot of replies.

Yeah... We've seen a few minutes of trailer footage for what we're hoping is a 3 hr. Movie. In it... We've seen a tall, muscular, blue-tinted guy walking toward the SJ's chair. We've seen another one (or the same one) messing with a green orb and turning to look at said chair. We've seen 2 or 3 of them approaching David in the 3D map sequence. We've seen one of them hovering over Shaw while she's collapsed on the ship's floor. I'm pretty sure big, blue-ish guys play a significant role in the film. They probably wear the SJ suit(s). They (possibly) are not the only one's who try. Like it or not... That's what I'd call fairly significant (circumstantial) proof.

The jockey moves. Not her. You see the Jockey's hand come into the shot, he is stepping forward. At least that is how it looks to me in my overly hung over state. I know people are hoping for more then a 9ft blue dude. Stop hoping cause, imo, that is all we are getting, A pissed off 9ft blue dude with technology of the god. He doesn't need mind control to be terrifying.

I've watched it about half a dozen times, and she absolutely, positively, does move towards him, though it doesn't look like her movements are voluntary......it's almost like she's sliding across the floor.

I bought the new issue of EMPIRE magazine; awesome holographic cover and great coverage of Prometheus. The cast give their perspective on the movie and Sir Ridley Scott answers all the questions you could ever ask! Definitely worth the cash: http://www.empireonline.com/magazine/
