That mural one is certainly interesting. The hole is pretty much where the jockey's tear is located in Alien, just extended a bit more.

More for later... I have started another original post of my thought so that I would not lose track of it.
Its called The Function of the TURNTABLE Mechanism. I will let this topic here get back to the original idea.

@Progeny
You're totally right!!!! We've got elbow thorns! Oh man, that gets me excited.

Hold on folks! After skimming through a few posts are y'all missing the point somewhat? The mural/humanoid has a big hole where is liver would be! - Prometheus - liver, creature eating out liver on a daily re-occuring basis - Is it me that's missing something here???? Am I insane? Essentially the image of the humanoid is in essence the titan prometheus, and the creature is equvialant to the Eagle.....How this connects to the story - FUCK KNOWS!
April 11, 2012
Actually a bunch of posts address the hole.
Are you suggesting the creature ate his liver? I don't think there's evidence of that. I think this is supposed to be an artistic representation of several related things. I don't think it's is depicting that creature eating his liver.

With all that's being discussed about 2 races depicted in that mural (Engineer and SJ), I thought I'd throw this out there. I don't know what to think, I just saw these possible connections as to who is in the "suit" (if that's what it is). I'm showing the same design in the arm and leg because you can't quite make out the arm in the top picture and it might be logical to assume the arms and legs would have a similar "design".

look at this photo, you can clearly see that the engineer puts his left hand on the head of the creature ...

@whiskuz
No dude -Im speaking metaphorically - The proverbial mythology of the story of Prometheus seams to be visually manifesting in the mural!

Perhaps just a suit. Although it is very plausible compared with the mutation of the Mohican guy.
April 11, 2012
its definitely a creature of some kind.... the way it looks to be crouched it is the humanoid's pet perhaps? seems very much a master/pet relationship.

If you don't feel like browsing through all of the pages to find a picture, I've posted a summary of the pictures here.
Mural only. If you want to discuss the turntable theory then go here.
Ridley Scott will eventually tell us how the Queen was born.
Right now we have the Deacon; coming soon the Mercury, the May and the Taylor.

Three thoughts on this.
1. I understand the Prometheus myth with the eagle eating his liver, and I get that the "torn flesh" where his liver would be is apparent in the mural. Some have said that the mural looks like he's placing his hand on the creature's head. But it also looks to me like his right arm is bent at the elbow and he's bending the arm away from the creature. The part of the mural that looks like "torn flesh" is perhaps instead the fire he stole from the gods being emitted from his right hand. (See red outlines below.)

2. The creature looks to me like it has two bony plates above where its eyes would be (see the orange outlines in the image). The way it looks to me, the humanoid is not placing his hand on the creature's head; rather, you just don't see the elbow because it's hidden by the left-most bony plate.
3. I'm also wondering whether the mural that's seen changes depending on the species that sees it. So, supposing some hyper-intelligent space-faring donkeys were to find their way to that temple, they might see something else.
Fall down seven times, get up eight.

Perhaps as with Shoggots of the "At the mountains of madness" of Love craft, they were slaves of the Elder Things and then developed.
On the other hand the explanation of Prometheus seems very plausible, especially to see that scar on his abdomen.

It appears the humanoid is keeping the creature at bay (hand upon head, keeping it at a distance)
The humanoid also appears to have scaring as mentioned before under the right lung (presumably where the Liver is in accordance to Myth) as well as on his right leg, thigh, appears to have not only a slit but something snakelike potentially going inside (as seen in the 12 minute footage screening, the vagina snake lol)

I have a sneaky suspicion that humans are almost by destiny, going to play a larger role in the evolution of life in this movie: as in being called upon and then shown (via these murials/lifecycle depictions) their fate and their place in the oncoming evolutionaire process. Maybe their mere presence awakens the temple and they start interacting. I love the angle of there being an elephantine creature, for whom the chair is manufactured - but that this race is overtaken by the blue humanoids. Interplanetary genetic cocktails for all.

@MarcoBot1234
Yeah, reminds me of Western Pediment at temple of Zeus. Apollo I believe, reprimanding the centaurs, or reason in control of instinct (as i remember)...

-Not sure what it will mean on the movie though...

The 'hand on head' gesture can be taken two ways in my opinion. Either as a reprimanding or as a blessing.
1) Reprimanding: kind of goes contrary of previous theories. Where i once thought humans or this humanoid creature to be a lower level species when compared with alien life forms. Gives another view as the human is the dominant species relative to the 'thing' its reprimanding. Hand on head, putting the 'beast' in its submissive place.
2) Blessing: the humanoid is blessing the creature. Touching the head, approving of its existence as he (the humanoid) is its potential creator.
@Macs
The picture does seem statuesque. Just by the form and pose of the humanoid it almost seems familiar

@MarcoBot1234
-"Apollo" in the Alien mural does seem to be straining bit, he/she does not seem "in control" as much...

WOW. a lot to go threw.
Well for what its worth, I think it is the "blue guy" and his pet, creation, early form. Maybe its showing the viewer of where their species evolved from. Kind of like how we have the evolution of man from a monkey to a man. Just a thought. I have posted before that the "blue guy" could be an android and that maybe they are the care takers of the creature. The "mural" could be their doing, like we do with our paintings.
Exciting times!
