I think, as this image is taken from a movie, and the mural is definitely from the scene where shaw says that something is "changing", that the hunched creature on the left somehow transforms into the humanoid figure on the right or vice versa. I see it as murals, like giger did them, only morphing and blending into the next state.

I don't think I've seen it mentioned on this topic, but it's also interesting how the light shining up on the mural serves to divide the humanoid from the creature. Humanoid is illuminated. Creature is not.

@NoWord and @Progeny Thank you so much for posting those pics......so very helpful. My mind is reeling!!!!! I have a million scenarios running through my head. Just not quite as long winded as some of you, though I do love reading everyone's theories!!!!

I believe Jones hit it. What this looks like [i]to me,[/i] is that the humanoid is squatting down and stealing "fire" (energy, power, technology, whatever...) from the alien creature, which appears to be sleeping or in some otherwise dormant state. The gesture with the humanoids left hand appears to indicate that he is turning to his left, as if to depart. Meanwhile he is gazing at his right hand which is clenched in a fist around some kind of crackling "energy" (which I see some people here mistaking for a hole in it's chest...looking too hard for similarities to alien perhaps?). Again, Jones had a pretty close outline of the right arm in his modified pic, however the hand extends a bit further....i'll try to do it myself if I can....(sneakin this in at work, hehe)...

In reference to my above post, see below: Hand right arm outlined in black (I didn't do the best job, but you get the idea). "Energy" highlighted in green. The engineer is building a new kind of creature as he has done before with humans, just to see which one has the best chance to survive. One is resembling the gods and one is the best he can do, without any limitations. Then he puts each one on a enclosure and he is using his cannon to fire them into the worlds, wherever they might be. When Prometheus is arriving, he is just on his way to fire off Xenomorphs, the new version of life. This is understood by Elisabeth and they crash Promtheus into the alien ship to stop this. What we see in Alien is the ammo spilled out. nd, he has done it before the same way but then with humans but he was not satisfied with the result.
