Does AVP count as accurate to Prometheus

Sure why not. And Batman and Superman are going to join forces and fight iron man and the hulk. Ooops. I mean the Dark Knight and Superman.

The essential starches and sugars in those beans I've just eaten are starting to
produce volatile gasses once more.

Nope, ain't canon, to my knowledge. Plus, it's unnecessary, especially now, since Prometheus is moving the universe/story forward, finally...Since 1979. All we go, in the end was Ripley's character development in Resurrection, that's about it.
AVP isn't necessary, anymore. Other than following it's own universe, which, to be honest, is getting very, very interesting, ever since i played the latest game. The games are telling the best stories for AVP, anyway. Although... If you've played the game, you'll be scratching your head, and thinking... "Don't the devs of AVP have to wait for Prometheus to come out; or at least know it's story before they can make the next game?".
Only those who've played the game would be able understand what im talking about. But, basically, they set the second game up in a really confusing way... Ridley Scott calls the shots... They have to wait for HIM to be able to continue THEIR game series, despite the fact that they are not connected. Kind of funny, if you think about it. Probably why the second game is on hold. Most likely waiting for Prometheus.
^^^ Does the above not make sense? ^^^
Basically: Next game will feature the Xeno homeworld/origin of Xenos/why Predators hunt them...
Im going sort of off-topic, but im trying to point out how much of a mess AVP is... They can't even continue, because they have NOTHING to work off of. Hence why they need to wait for Prometheus...
But yeah, i'll reiterate; No. AVP ain't in Alien/Prometheus' universe (Although Alien and Prometheus are, despite the fact that Ridley Scott keeps denying it, hehehe... It's painfully obvious).

ER NO @snorks, AVP & AVPR are not in this universe, Charles Bishop Weyland does not exist, he's not Peters dad now is he!!!
AVP & R were the worst examples of exploitation of a film franchise I have ever seen, the scripts were dumb the acting worse.
That's my opinion & I'm not saying it's right but it is.
April 21, 2012
Charles Bishop Weyland very well could be Peter Weylands father. Chronologically it does fit.
Weyland Industries first appeared in AVP
The Yutani Corporation was hinted at in AVPR, and has since been verified as a separate entity by weylandindustries.com. Ron Cobb and Ridley never originally intended it to be two merged companies.
There is no way in which the two AVP films damage the continuity or chronological order of either the Predator films or the Alien films, is there?!?
April 21, 2012
IMO it does, Aliens were put on Earth under the polar cap by Predators?? Don't be ridiculous, it makes a mockery of the whole series by devaluing the Alien's worth.
Predators are supposed to hunt individually returning to earth every ten years 87, 97 etc.....
It's all comic book stuff (which is fine) but not to be taking seriously in the timeline of the Alien movies.

An Alien, and a Queen at that, was frozen 2000 feet below Bouvet Island, not the polar ice cap.
If the predators returned every 10 years then explain 1) Angent Peter Keyes reference to tracking them inbetween 1987 and 1997, and 2) the flintlock pistol dated 1715.
Predators would hunt alone against a human, but Aliens are deadlier prey hence their status in Predator society - they are hunted as rite of passage into adult hood.
Berserker, Falconer and Tracker hunted in a group of three.
In the comics and video games AVP is essentially Aliens with Predators added into the mix (Aliens, Colonial Marines and Predators), the movies shows that the relationship between all three species is much more deep rooted than that, which is in itself an echo of what we will see in Prometheus.

I agree with most of the comments made, The AVP movies are NOT canon nor should they be treated as such. Absolutely horrible
April 21, 2012
NO it ain't, RS is on record saying how awful the AVP films are and if you read film magazines they are in general agreement that Prometheus ignores the AVP films.
Comics, games & novels are good fun but always have little releavance to the films.
The pistol was dated 1715 meaning that's when it was made, not when it was taken as a trophy. Wwhen does Keyes say anything about them actually being on Earth between 87 - 97
April 21, 2012
Agent Keyes clearly states in the trailer before entering the slaighterhouse that he had been tracking the Predators since 1987.
Just because both Ridley and Cameron don't like the AVP's doesn't make them not canon. You do know that AVP was co-written by Dan O'Bannon, the guy who essentially wrote Alien.
April 21, 2012
Snorkelbottom, you make a good argument as to why the AVP series keeps coming up in discussions on here.
I myself have stayed away from the topic, because I myself read an article in which RS states that there is no connection whatsoever to the Alien movie series, except for the first 'Alien,' which he directed, and MAYBE 'Aliens,' as he put it. No I can't quote or link to the article, so that leaves my opinion without anything else to back it up. I can't deny the similarities pointed out though, and don't deny they're there.
We'll see!
April 21, 2012
Yeah tracking them...... WTF does that mean? I could go and track a killer whale, doesn't mean I'll find one. They left in 87 and came back in 97. End of.
Plus the Keyes character was orignally supposed to be Dutch so he was supposed to have known about them, it's just lazy script writing really.
April 21, 2012
And snork, if you are really trying to establish canon, I would most definitely take into consideration what RS says, since he directed the first film, and originally oversaw Giger's art transformed into popular cinema before there ever was an Alien movie to discuss.
I'm not saying AVP is not possible in the Prometheus/Alien Universe, but is RS going to address those films directly in this one? I believe the answer is still a big NO.
