I perfectly, "easy", thanks? I'm not sure what you're saying - you may be mistaken.
In any case: of course we don't have to agree, that is stating the obvious - what is material, is why we disagree - and upon what that disagreement is founded, be it Valid, or not.
On which matter: "Ash not being as robotic as David", is exactly my point.
The point being, that it queries your conclusion that Ash, "didn't act human".
He, quite obviously, did. Certainly more so that David. Which, in turn, answers the posted dilemma about why Ripley was, "so surprised", versus the fact that droids had been around for decades - answer: she obviously was not surprised at the droid, as droids had been around for decades - she was surprised at it's sophistication - and let's not forget, as I did before, that Ash was made by somebody else than David was?
The enjoyment in watching Ash, "act like an android", you speak of is not supportive of what you're saying, it's actually only arguing against yourself via your post-rationalisation.
Ash was acting as many humans act.
You take pleasure in seeing it as android-like, only because you now know he's an android.
The first time you watched him, you could not have thought that. You may wondered something like, "What's wrong with that guy?"
He is quite very far indeed from "emotionless", what he actually manages to communicate is something like "awkward repression" – including his stilted joviality – which trait is, actually, very believably human.
On that:
“Ash LOOKED human, and didnt do anything that SCREAMED android, but the reason they didnt suspect him is because...why should they?”
What does this actually mean? With it, you seem to be contradicting what you have just in that he did not act human enough?
Furthermore, surely the simple reason they didn’t suspect him is the fact that, as I’ve been saying, he did act human enough?
I’m not sure what your meaning is in this: yes - I did notice Ash’ mannerisms as a child. Perhaps the basis for the disagreement is that I was able to interpret them as an adult.
Finally, I haven't argued that they were unfamiliar with droids?
I observed that there is nothing that suggests they found the patching of one together, "easy"? It is there to be read again, if required.
