I am currently collating a synopsis, which I will then expand into a screenplay for an Alien semi-sequel. There will be two main elements to the narrative structure... 1. The main story telling of a Weyland-Yutani R&D vessel landing on LV-426. Officially, they are there to ascertain the cause and damage caused by the destroyed Atmosphere Processor. Unofficially they are there to ascertain if the Derelict was affected, and if not to acquire the specimens they so desire. 2. Flashbacks experienced by the captain (whose identity will be revealed later on in the story) of all the key events and factors that have happened up to this point in time (2179), and factors that will have an effect on events yet to occur (Alien Resurrection). Regards point one, I will reveal that as we go along, but regards point two, maybe you all can help. I'll start things off... 1. Why the USCSS Nostromo was chosen for the mission to carry out Special Order 937. 2. The why and how of the Nostromo's science officer being replaced with Ash while the vessel is docked at Thedus. Now over to you guys...

"The 'Alien Resurrection' novel says the Derelict was destroyed in the AP station explosion, so logically, the Derelict must've been within the blast radius." So I guess we're all clear since this W.I.P. is based on films only. Where were we?

again, the novel is not canon, only the films, unless it states in Aliens, Alien 3 or Alien rez that the derelict was in the blast radius, then it is fair game. ...In the novel of alien it says there is a petrified alien in the jockey room, but in the film there is nothing of the sort. not being funny but the films are the source, thus they are the canon. not being an arse but trying to get across the point that only the films are canon.

@TheNextLV426... shouldn't an LV-233 be relatively close to a LV-426? I'm "jst sayin'"

Just a thought here. The Sulaco had nukes. Ripley was hellbent on destroying the alien threat and any possibility that the company could come back an revisit the site. I believe it to require a suspension of disbelief on our part if we are to assume that Ripley left LV-426 without making absolutely sure that the explosion didn't encompass the derelict......else, she would have sent down nukes to the gird location (that we know she knew because she is the one that told the company). So let's say she was distressed and forgot to dot this "i" and leave the system without making sure that the threat as far as LV-426 was concerned was over. In addition, in Alien Res., why wouldn't they have gone back to LV-426 to the direct source, the derelict, instead of all that pain-staking dna/cloning stuff?

If the Derelict was unaffected then there would be no need for Alien Res., no?

nuking from orbit wasn't shown. This synopsis is why they went through all the cloning stuff

Well, to be precise, we're only talking about a small segment of the Milky Way Galaxy that humans would be able to get to.

Ok, Snorky For purposes of continuity and to add some more depth to what we're doing lets says like I have always been preaching the company has had a vessel in or around what is going on out in Z2R from about the time of aliens and out of sheer spite lets say the ship is ran by droids. Thus no ability to get infected by a xeno but are able to study, this removes your whole camera theory, albeit a little bit more convoluted. A whole covert science crew at HH running in parallel to the marines and keeping a low profile would make a whole lot of sense. This would lend credence to Call hitting the mainframe before blowing her modem and downloaded the companies black ops stuff. Rick

Snorky, Right I agree but remember we went round and round about this from the following post: Staff Send PMPosted 01/31/2012 | Edit This is more for Snorky, but anyone is welcome to jump in if they wish. Ok, I have a theory about some things that don't add up from Alien through to Alien3. Corporate Knowledge of the Derelict Signal and possibly the payload is almost a given anymore. Then take in the aspect of Prometheus coming out and how in the hell do you tie in all the Alien Franchise with the movie; the answer is corporate knowledge. Alien - Aliens What doesn't add up, no corp knowledge in Alien? Not a chance: Ash sends corporate the information he was gathering from the facehugger and the xeno. When Special Order 937 comes in and he's put in survey mode to only watch and report what happens. So the Corporation knows about LV-426 and sends in the shake and bake colony in Aliens but the coordinates are smoked with the Nostromo Aliens What doesn't add up here. 1. Bishop: 40 Minutes to crawl down there, 1 hour to patch in and align the antenna, and 50 minutes flight time. Thats 2.5 hours, not a chance, you'll see why. At this time Bishop has already gathered all of the data from his biopsy's of face huggers, and I am sure there were bodies in the morgue that he was examining. 2. Burke: Ok right before the full on assault Burke, where is Burke? I don't think Burke dumped the hugger flasks I will exaplain in detail once I get to Aliens 2.5. We all know he covered it up by shutting off the screen for the camera. Now during the full on assault by the xeno's of operations Burke hauls tail through the corridor and then locks the door and starts heading out like he's going somewhere, hmm...... Now on to Aliens 2.5 The corporation had full blown knowledge of the xeno during the entire movie series Alien - Alien 3, but could never get a live specimen. I think they had a ship tailing the Nostromo to record and analyze what happened once the Nostromo returned from the surface with an infected crew member. Then why wouldn't the company also have a secondary science vessel already in orbit or arriving shortly after the Sulaco? Its there Multi-million dollar atmosphere processor and a multi-million dollar prize for the bio-weapons division, then to send a lowly henchman like Burke, c'mon really? Burke sent them to look for the ship and that was probably to get his cut of some crazy amount of money from one of his superiors. I think there was a science team at Hadley's hope that was in contact with Burke and Bishop this explains the amount of time it takes for Bishop to get the drop ship, why he disappeared with the ship, and why Burke was runnign like he had somewhere to go when the xeno's came. Alot of the idiosyncrancies make sense when you look at it from the perspective that the corporation knew everything from day one. Regards, Rick

Snorks, From that post I made way back in January why couldn't the eggs already be on the drop ship when Bishop remote piloted the ship down and had it do a small detour to the science team at the derelict while it was enroute to get them from HH. That would make sense since it really only takes about 10-20 minutes to land from space on such a small rock and the eggs hitting the Sulaco Regards, Rick
