MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 12:21 PMHello everyone! From what I can see from all this speculation about the Hammerpede I have a strong feeling the whatever it is it is NOT the name of an alien. It's most likely the name of a weapon or a vehicle. All the other aliens never recieve official names just nick names! In my humble opinion hammerpede is the name of a vehicle be it Jockey or Human! Love to hear what you guys think!

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 2:08 PMAs for the space cobra/assflower/face burster, I think Ridley decided to model his creatures after female genitalia instead of the phallic shaped chest-burster and the Alien. I see labia and a clitoris when I look at the space cobra.

Yup... it'll be interesting to see how they go with that motif to say the least, especially if it is Millburn that bites it first.

sure, that works. I would call them "Hammerdontics" ;)

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 2:14 PMJim,
You should patent that right now! You could probably sell it to Weyland industries at the rate they're rolling out new technologies!

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 3:04 PMso this theory about the ship means it happens at the beginning of the 2nd act!? I don't think so.

the walls are alive
MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 3:19 PMI think any space jockey technology is technically alive and could be programmed to grow into a creature or lay eggs or something, if you begin with manipulating individual DNA strands as Ridley implies in the featureete, a single living cell from any alien technology should be programmable into anything they have made before although they probably have well established procedures that streamline the process better.

MemberOvomorphMay-13-2012 4:49 PMplease stop titling your threads with spoilers. Title it *spoiler* and then in the body of the paragraph say things like 'hammerpede'. When the track list that contained this name was revealed everyone had enough sense to call it a spoiler before giving it away a few days ago. Nothing has changed since then.

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 4:54 AMwell female anatomy has been used since Ridley's original though, the opening on the facehugger where the willy comes out and to a lesser extent the opening of the eggs.

It breaks milburns arm and melts his plexiglass helmet BUT also when fifield tried to remove it I believe he is also splashed with "acid" maybe the things blood in the face as well. He's rolling on the ground gettig his face burned off when milburns freaking out with his broken arm trying to get it out of his suit. But we know that'll never happen he deadz!

MemberOvomorphMay-27-2012 7:51 AMI sincerely believe that the creature(s) thus far shown are not "Hammerpede". I don't even see the semblance between the 'cobra alien' and a hammer. It looks like a protoform Face Hugger, if anything. And, as stated by several others, pede is to suggest pedalism and this creature doesn't appear to have feet, or even a series of tentacles such as to be cephalopoidic.
Also, I noticed that when the creature appears and strikes that it changed color and texture once it hit (whatever it hit in the preview) to a gun metal biomechanoid look as if it were absorbing some trait or reconfiguring itself.

MemberPraetorianMay-27-2012 10:00 AMThis will probably be of no help whatsoever, (and correct me if I'm wrong!) I believe Ridley did say that there were to be 4 stages of development to this creature/xeno.
