MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 3:38 PMI really do hope this is just a nagging feeling in the back of my mind, but the biggest horror of all would be if the film turns out to be a steaming pile of xeno dung.
I think dissolutionment with long awaited franchise films was planted in my head (quicker than Kane getting his face humped by the original facehugger!), after Indiana Jones 4 trailer proved to show so much promise before my dreams were shattered by the combined dump of what Lucas and Spielberg inflicted on us.
Please Please Please Sir Ridley of the Scott make this film live up to the lofty standards of the trailers, I really don't want to have to refer to this film in the future as "Pro-faeces-us"

Haha, yep. That's all that really matters anyway. As long as I get mine. LOL

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 5:44 PMIt's a sad state of affairs when this is what cinema has come to, I vote everybody goes to see this as many times as possible to make it a success! Screw Twilight, I want to see more of the actual craft in the cinema again! All Hail RS!

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 7:18 PMLet's enjoy the ride, and celebrate the movie! I remember being jacked for the release of Star Wars IV, Alien, and the first LOTR , and none of them disappointed. After reading the Alan Dean Foster book right before Alien came out, my imagination ran away with itself and made the movie itself somewhat of a letdown, but the movie has stood the test of time and I can still watch it often and enjoy it. I'm jacked about this one also, and my feeling is that it will be epic!!

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 7:28 PM@Dippybird...
I agree totally! No matter WHAT this thing "does" for you, we already know the work Ridley and company have put into it, and we KNOW it's real art. Let's support it dramatically and beat the crap out of the wannabe's...i'm tired of people thinking that movies like "Twilight" are actually worth seeing or supporting any more than their local shite dealer....

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 8:12 PMI am such a "wuss", I just can''t do what all you guys are all able to do, and dump every ounce of faith you ever had in such an exceptionally and incredibly gifted human being!

MemberOvomorphMay-14-2012 8:38 PMIt's gonna be great sci-fi/horror.....almost certainly not "2001" great in terms of sci-fi, but maybe "Alien" great in terms of horror. IMO, it would be unreasonable to expect more than that.

Well, attempting to, anyway.

Let me put it this way...
There are ZERO doubts in my "Caveman" mind that this thing , this entire thing, will be any damn thing less than remarkably exceptional film making.

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 1:39 AM Spartacus... it's good that you care that much.
The reason I have a small doubt in my mind is that I used to get excited for EVERY RS film that came out, but there've been a few in the last few years that weren't that great.
However, I like to think of them now as Ridley getting all the other stuff out of his system so that he could focus solely on his REAL baby: Prometheus.
Does that clarify anything for you?
It's not that I wish to 'dump' on him, but to be fair A Good Year and Robin Hood felt very much for me like he was just keeping himself ticking over...

MemberOvomorphMay-15-2012 5:37 AMit's sci fi on the big screen. proper sc fi. and even if it does stink like a big mack its good on the way down... but later is a different matter. its still gonna be bloody good. i doubt he'll bugger up though. even his worst is still better than most peoples efforts.

I suppose in a very long winded way that was the point I was trying to get to, thank you for expressing it so succinctly!
