@ Snorkelbottom - I don't know. In a recent interview (and the link is somewhere on this community), Lindelof said that there would in fact be a tie in that would satisfy the fans. I agree with you to a point - this is not a "xenomorph" movie, but Prometheus will tie into Alien in a way that shouldn't leave all the fan boys frustrated. He also made the point that this is not a prequel in that it does not lead up to the events of Alien like a traditional prequel would. In essence, this film could easily spawn it's own sequels rather.

Well my thinking would be this ... You will only see a RESEMBLANCE of the (future) Xeno creature ... NOT the Xeno itself ... because it doesn't actually exist or get 'created' (born, evolved whatever you want to call it) until we get to the ALIEN movie ... So I reckon there will be some sort of NOD at the end of the movie that would suggest that if THAT creature gets into a human then THAT will develop into the Xeno ... you won't need more than that to be honest ... just some form of continuity ... that will be near the very end of the movie so it doesn't end up in a human ... and so continues onto ALIEN ... That's my theory :) ...

Seems like with each release of a new clip more fans are being disappointed. I dont understand. For me each clip intensifies the anticipation i have for the movie. I do believe that some of the clips, video, and gifs recently release shed new light that there is a possiblity that the two stories of the indiviuals who claim to have seen advance screenings may be true. I think that may be a good thing. This movie will rock. no doubt about it. its going to knock our socks off.

I think the dispointment is from all the fanboys hoping for an Alien based movie and they now know they are not going to get it. Samll few no worries. True sci-fi fans will love this movie either way and I for one am looking ofrward to it now more than ever.

I would have thought the SJ or engineer would not have fit at that height through that door. He does look similar to the blue man. Could that be just David 8 mutated?

Bottom line....it's gonna destroy 90% of the bullshit SciFi put out to date, whether or not the Engineer is to scale or that the imagery has been used before at somepoint! I don't give a FU*K...got that BigDave and Didley etc...

@ dopelganger - I agree and disagree. I agree with you that this will not be a traditional Alien film with "xenomorphs" running around all over the place. I don't want to see that. No body wants to. It's been overdone. However, I believe that this film will tie into the original 'Alien' film in a way that will sufficiently satisfy most fans. Unfortunately, there will be some that just can't be satisfied. Those will be the ones who will want to see the face buggers, chestbursters, acid blood, and everything in between. That's why every new trailer becomes more and more of a disappointment for these folks.

[u]Let me give you an example[/u]: In Star Trek: The Next Generation, they rarely discussed the originally series, though there were a large number of fans that wanted every episode to somehow tie in with the original series. TNG producers never pandered to the fans (until Generations), and they worked hard to make it a stand alone series that could exist without TOS as its crutch. And it worked! However, there was one episode where Picard meets Spock on Romulus. Spock says that Picard reminds him of another Starship Captain he once knew. Of course, all the fan boys got an erection and shouted gleefully at their television screens, "He's talking about Kirk! HE'S TALKING ABOUT KIRK!!!!!" The reference that Spock made was stupid, lame, and unnecessary. He really should have just said, "Damn it, Jean Luc! You're too much like Captain Kirk!" [u]My point is this[/u]: Some fans want to see all the stupid, lame, tie-ins. You know, dumb references to "Aunt Ripley" or Weyland's "in progress" construction of the ore freighter, Nostromo. Or better yet, at the very end of the film, a xenomorph peeks around the corner and goes "Grrrr!!!" We don't need to see that. We're smarter than that, and honestly I believe Ridley Scott is too!

I bet the bad-ass creature will be the one depicted on the mural...

Could be also there are no beings to meet, and we get to "know" them by representations of them thorough their technology of genetic manipulation (by infecting us). All living things conform to DNA coding as far as we know right?

The being in the Prometheus is a Space Jockey. I think they can change size. They are bio mechanical. They can adapt to any situation.

It seems like the TV spots before were more tame, now that it is a definite R-rating they seem to be trying to get that across more

@ Macs - good point! And why does everything [i]have[/i] to enter through the mouth? It's the standard modus operandi in Sci-Fi nowadays. A creature that large would just give the average person a massive 'tummy ache,' and/or eat him from the inside out. Ewww!!! It makes more sense to me that the creature would either enter through the ear, if it was small enough, or simply bite you and deliver it's potent gene re-sequencing venom directly into your bloodstream.

lol at most of what i've read on here, i thought ther'd be fanboys muttering discontent. Its a tv spot. They aren't going to give the farm away in a tv spot. i really can't believe there are still people hankering after a bug that was old in 79. It was a one shot thing and it worked great in Alien. It would be a sure fire way to lose a shedload of money if there are xeno's in this. Am sure they'll make an AVP3, just for the fanboys, like the first two. Me, i'd rather see some great ideas played with and have something to think about, as well as a good story and action. Fuck the xeno's!! p.s. i imagine they couldn't show every orifice being raped in a trailer, so you'll have to settle for the mouthole and cornea for now haha (hentai freaks!!) lol

Truly and really, the 'xeno' should have died with Aliens.

The AvP films tend to suggest that the "xenomorphs" have a home planet or come from somewhere else. I'd like to think that they somehow originated with the Space Jockeys, and that what we see in Alien, the eggs and all, is the only remnants of them. That's it. No more. After the destruction of the colony on LV-426, they're as good as dead in my opinion.

And does this kinda confirm their might be 2 jockeys or a jockey and a crew member mutating into them? One of the Jockey's probably dies in the collision. Or at least the prometheus looks too f**ked up after that to have these scenes take place on it. We know it includes vickers quarters [you can see the chandler] so it sounds pre-them flying into the juggernaut. But it doesn't feel like that? Does that make any sense?

I haven't seen anybody ask "why" is the snake going down his throat, I want to know why and what the purpose is and basically what happens next? I know we have to wait for the movie to come out, but any theories. In my opinion the Alien life cycle was completed in Aliens, meaning there was no cycle before that. Introducing a queen completed the missing piece to make it a cycle. What I think we see in Alien and here in Prometheus "could" be the same life form, starting small and growing/changing exponentially, maybe even reacting differently with each individual it infects or whatever it does. Branching off into something different with each incident and what we see in Alien could just be on of many branches which originates with this life form. BTW, AVP Rocks :P

Well, more power to all of you who got to see the new TV spot. I can't find it anywhere......well, I've not tried YouTube but I wonder if it's worth it 'cause it seems like it's being blocked everywhere. But because of some of the content shown in the TV spot, I can't really blame them for blocking it.

I'm pretty shocked that this forced oral was show in a [u]TV[/u] spot, even in Europe. What time was it on? Who originally TiVoed it? @Gem]n[ David is [u]reading[/u] something, and understanding it in that shot, and it's pretty disturbing to him (even though he doesn't really [u]feel[/u] HOW disturbing. ;•). He's just touching the writing as he's reading it. That implies that it's really important. The glyphs are ones that we've seen before. I just can't tell what the setting is. It could be a "warning" on a door or some such. "Don't open this door. The thing inside will do NASTY things to you."

@ Snorkelbottom - I am not saying that the AvP films physically show a xenomorph planet or homeworld. It's just that the Predators tend to either go to a place and hunt its indigenous life, or they abduct life from other worlds and deposit them in a specific location for the purpose of hunting them. If the former is the case, then it can be argued that the Predators once traveled to a world where they first encountered or hunted the xenomorph. Also, in AvP, the xenomorphs were not indigenous to Earth. It was obvious that the Predators brought them there to be hunted. The question is...[i]from where?[/i] And why bring them to Earth to be hunted? That doesn't make much sense. I think the writers of the AvP franchise just wanted to include the humans and Weyland in the plot somehow. They could have done better, IMO. I'm sure it can be argued that the Predators found the derelict ship and stole the eggs, but that wouldn't make much sense. Not to me, at least. So if the Predators didn't find the xenomorphs there, then they had to have found them somewhere else, right? Or maybe it was the Predators who shot down the derelict spacecraft and found the eggs, or maybe they did it to get the eggs. I would like to think that the xenomorphs have no homeworld, per say, and that their existence begins and ends with the eggs on that derelict spacecraft from Alien - that they were somehow engineered by the Space Jockeys, etc.

Vickers' quarters are within the detachable life boat section we've seen, both flying and landed in the trailers. The Prometheus is completely obliterated by the impact with the SJ ship. Presumably, both Shaw and the Engineer find their way to the life boat, post impact.

wow - look away for a couple of days didnt expect this. with less than 3 weeks to go they are showing us more and more.... So Fifield seems to be having a seriously horrid time going by the size and deformity of his head, and eventually killed by flamethrower? whats the spcaesuit guy looking at in the 3rd and 4th screen caps above - cant make it out... and a blue man on the Prometheus ship??? survives the crash?

@ JP The point of those two frames is to show the cobra crawling into the suit via the right arm. The face seems to have been intentionally obscured in post so that it won't be clear whose suit it is.

well its the same guy who gets it in the mouth (milburn?) now that I look harder....its the same setting (large flat bedrock, large ampule at corner, the curved column).....throat scene shot froma slightly lower right angle as Milburn has collapsed to the floor from his seating position on the bedrock I think Ive seen too much for sure now...I envy my less fanatical friends who are blissfully ignorant of how awesome this film is looking

I'd be surprised if that ever aired as a TV spot, i think its a deliberate viral Not sure if they'll see this post (the managers, or peeps who run this great place), but it's a shame that there is no bump facility for this thread. am sure it will soon be lost to the back pages of the forum, which is a shame. Also, i think it would be cool if the buttons to navigate to the NEXT,LAST pages of a forum were higher up the page, next to the title of the thread, it wold save having to scroll all the way down past the reposted thread to reach them, which can be a pain if the first post contained all the screen shots etc. Well done to the guys who post the tv spots, screenshots, and keep them going when metacafe etc take things down, you're making a lot of scifi geeks very happy.
