I have analysed the Prometheus ship and see here as another analogy I drew upon a few days previous was the fact that I speculated that the Prometheus ship was loosely, o.k. "LOSELY" based upon Gigers Turkey Burster 'first draft' (if you will) design of the Xenomorph's birth faze. Is the Prometheus ship in fact the metaphor for the Eagle? But the metaphor it represents appears to be hidden in plain sight. It IS the ship: Prometheus! And the 'Liver' it pecks out is the Ram manuver the crew of the ship itself impliments when it collides with The Juggernaught. [img]http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/3237/10500268.jpg[/img] But its is once again clear to me that the producers of this film are interlacing it with layer upon layer of subtext and metaphorical bordering on subliminal visual yet subtle 'language' for us viewers to digest ... Thers pathos, themes to be explored, layers of subtext and plot threads interlaced with dialogue, pace and mood, tempered with atmosphere all in which is achieved with a balanced thread of intelligene Hollow Way... The likes of which you seem to have none!

Well if I am over thinking things, look at the case of my presentation, do I not raise a valued, un-baiased and balanced hypothosis? This is how film makers think and do things... Adding layer upon layer of information variables as such like the layers of an onion. This approach is the brainstorming that directors, producers and writers dream up all of the time! Utilizing multiple scenarios and depths of knowledge base from painstaking time buried in research both in the oral tradition and the written form. But visual language marries the two together and it is there that discussion forums begin because we talk about the visual information we have been given and presented with don't we as fans and those who would want to offer a valid essay for critiqe...? Its as plain as day to me!

I don't think we're over thinking at all to be honest. The metaphors run rampant throughout the trailers and what we've seen so far. When designing the Prometheus I'm sure the design team needed some sort of template to base it of off. And using an eagle as that template does not really surprise me after seeing this. Also, Weyland Industries logo looks like an eagle, why shouldn't the Prometheus? It's all connected.

Prometheus took fire from the Gods and gave it to the mortals and had his liver pecked out ad infinitum for his actions. How do you equate "Prometheus", the ship, with the eagle that pecked out the liver of Prometheus the demi-god? Aren't we the demi-gods in Prometheus, and the Engineers the Gods, which would make the Xeno the eagle who will torture us for our transgressions i.e...stealing the knowledge of the Gods or engineers? Ya got's to use logic me dear fellows:O)

@dave_b Your logic makes no sense though. If we are to Prometheus then who are the mortals that receive the fire from Prometheus? The crew have to be the mortals. David is most likely the Prometheus.

O.k there is a twist I have to offer as some thing to bake your noodle over... If possible and it is this: There is a narrative irony at play here on the behalf of the filmaker themselves... Somehow we turn the tables upon the so called 'Gods' and we deliver the killer blow to them. We in fact take the power of the gods, the power of WILL and turn it against them! It is a plot mechanism I feel Ridley Scott is toying with and thus toying with us as a result, you see!

just imagine if all us fans were in a room discussing this stuff. it would be chaos. got the supernova convention in sydney australia in june. hope we get some of the cast from the film. that would be neat. Q&A at cons is always heaps interesting.

I challenge you whom may doubt my suggestions to read up on the designers of the films various things we see within it and one of those things in question as the 'Origin' idea of how to best design and create the visual asthetic that is the Prometheus ship itself, the overall inspiration. Then come back to this thread and offer comment... It would be interewsting to hear of your findings upon this matter... I await your response/s...!

Ambrosia, I believe the embodyment of Prometheus is Weyland and whomever assists his agenda to steal the knolwedge of the God's or Engineers. The rest of the crew and humanity at large are the innocent mortals who will suffer.

I do maintain with all due respect that although it seems to fit IMO it seems an over thinking of a great idea. There's Just no way to know I guess until someone makes A "Prometheus Vault"...lol.
