Sorry fanboys, no xenomorphs for you...

Indeed i really dont know whats going to happen, i am sure Ridley must have some respect for the Alien fans and Alien Franchise than to piss all over it and the fans....
Unless he is unhappy at how the Xeno evolved after Alien, if thats the case why did he not try and push to work on a sequel to Aliens or even Prequel to Alien in the 90's
But he has go Damon Lindelof onboard who i think just goes with what he wants and dont give flying F about what anyone else thinks.....
If he played a part in the Star Wars prequels i think we would have had more abominations than Jar Jar Binks....
It depends how the movie ends really....
I hope Ridley does not go back on his word, well i hope what he feels links to Alien and that last 11 mins or so at the end of the movie will indeed give us our answers, and provide a direct link to Alien and leave us satisfied.
On my thread i gave my views on what could have been done to explain away Alien and then never have to visit the Xeno again....
Link to Alien
You see if Ridley wants to get away from the Xeno, he has a tricky task if indeed Mommy meets Daddy and creates a organism that at the end of the movie we all assume must lead to the Xeno because no other explaination is given....
Or if he passes off the Xeno as a experiment or finding that the Engineers made/created hundreds or more years prior to Prometheus, it may give us the answers in a way, but a Prometheus 2 has to then follow on after Prometheus and not set before as if we visit the Engineers in the past and they did create the Xeno way way before Prometheus and Alien, then it has to be set way before they created the Xeno if they want to avoid the route of the Xeno.
Right now i have a worrying feeling that Prometheus is a Alien Reboot and i would not be suprised if Prometheus 2 is Alien the Reboot done pretty much like the Orginal Script... but then thats what Prometheus is in a away...
So god knows whats going to happen....

I believe I read a print interview with Ridley saying he would shortly begin meetings on the Blade Runner sequel and I think that's his next sci fi move
May 17, 2012
According to the video their source is the Hollywood Reporter.
I see this as Fox using Alien as a slingshot to generate interest in a (mostly) unrelated film. People will buy more tickets if they expect to see Aliens.
Your average movie-goer still has no idea what this movie is about. The irony may be that the Alien fans may have even less of an idea of what this movie is about.

There is a rumor, not sure if it is true though, that Cameron asked Ridley to do a proper sequel/prequel Alien movie and he refused. Fox ended up making AVP... If the story is true why on earth would Ridley be mad about what people did with the Xeno? He had ample time and lots of support to create a proper story. :/
Honestly I never thought any Xeno would be shown in Prometheus so I am not upset. Some fans however, might think it's going to feature a Xeno and be very let down.

I see what he's doing. THIS IS SCOTT'S AVATAR!! Only that is rated R, has even less friendly blue aliens, more gory and gruesome deaths and the hero wears a bra.

That report is a bit of a mix of many rumors and interviews ....lets wait that will surface on more reliable resources ( not your fault of course xenotron , great find anyway ) . I think will be ridicolous to start a pre production before knowing the commercial results...just starting a pre production are million of dollars .

I believe I read a print interview with Ridley saying he would shortly begin meetings on the Blade Runner sequel and I think that's his next sci fi move. I had thought that he originally planned to incorporate both an Alien prequel and a Blade Runner sequel into one film...Prometheus...but probably couldn't squeeze things down to where he could address the themes he wanted to explore.
I think that is what Prometheus 2 will be...using that working title.

Hey man, I'm just relaying what she said.
Nothing is set in stone until it's on the screen.

there will probably be a sequel, and the studio won't have learned from thier prior mistake, and they will get a lesser director, and the sequel will suck. ---not that Cameron is a lesser director and aliens sucked, it was good. I'm saying that everything after aliens in the franchise, ...well....sucked!
May 17, 2012
As long as there's money to be made, they'll make a sequel.
The only question in my mind is if Prometheus will be able to financially warrant a sequel without the extra-terrestrial cash-cow (xenomorph).

Ok...that was weird...cut off my first post, then reposted my original post...in full
MOTHER!!!??

The sequel (in terms of story) can become whatever seems promising based on what works and doesn't work with audiences re: Prometheus. If I were Ridley I would do the Blade Runner reboot next and not even think about post-Prometheus now. The fact that FOX is thinking about it already is completely normal. Game of Thrones was picked up for round 2 after just one episode was broadcast. I'm sure the buzz around Prometheus is at the right level already for FOX to be salivating KY all over themselves.

Just a thought, but.......Scott has repeatedly said that the Derelict was essentially a bomber, and the eggs were its' cargo. Do we really need to know exactly how that particular ship ended up there, when we already know what the eggs are used for?
May 17, 2012
I think you're missing the point...
The sequel would probably have less to do with the whole bomber and eggs idea since it would be stepping away from the xenomorph (even more so than Prometheus) and would be more about the Engineers and whatever else they do aside from the whole xenomorph schtick (yes, I spelled that correctly, ha!). The Engineers probably have a lot more interesting things to do than infect alien worlds with a case of interstellar crabs...
I think it will shock people how little Prometheus will have to do with Alien that we'll probably have to have a new group therapy forum here.

@Svanya
Well yes, i think that Lindelof could prove to be a Cancer to this movie... Ridley had drafted up a movie that had more links to Alien, but he came along and seems he had just as much if not more input in the plot.
You see Ridley could have done a movie about some beings who created us and other things, and that mankind finds a star map and goes to find answers but instead they find a race that are doing uncivilised things...
A movie that would be losely based on Mountains of Madness, like The Thing was based on Who goes there.....
This kind of movie would had been good.....
But as Ridley has added in the Engineer as the same race who have the Derelict Space Ship, and also has Weyland Ind in and is set before Alien. Well basing the movie in the Alien Universe is very risky.....
Ridley should have abandoned all to do with Alien Universe and gone with the idea of Promethus minus.... Space Jockeys, Derelict and Weyland Yutani.
I am sure Alien fans would have recognised Alien links but only to a degree that ET fans could connect Mac and Me lol.... It would not effect or upset Alien fans and not have them wanting answers.
They would have said "that movie was kind of good, very interesting, i wish Ridley would do a Alien Prequel and give us the answers to how the Derelict got on LV 426 etc"
But it would not piss them off, as for the general puplic and general Sci Fi fans then it makes no difference if the movie has Weyland Corp, or Microsoft Corp, has Space Jockeys or 8ft Lizards from Mars....
Ridley has instead gone for things from the Alien Universe and how he also said that their is a link to Alien and we would get our answers and leave satisfied means he has to deliver on that to some degree or he could face a back lash from the fans...
And like it or not i think those with a interest in this movie do so for its use of the Alien Universe.... and so Ridley could be potentially playing a risky game with this movies great percentage of viewers...
As come on if Ridley said he was remaking Mountains of Madness and its not based on Alien Universe i dont think there would be a problem at all.
At the end of the day you dont tug on Super Mans Cape, you dont spit or Pee into the Wind....
And you dont make a movie set before Alien, in the Alien universe that has a Derelic that has a Space Jockey/Engineer and the Pilot Chair, that has Weyland and then not answer some of the questions about who the Jockey in Alien was and why he was there with that cargo....
