OK I have just seen Prometheus at Londons BFI IMAX - After over two years of hard core PR and hype and buzz and anticipation and excitement - Here is my review. The opening scene as an "engineer" sacrifices himself into the ......water. Excellent scene actually - The Engineer looks "alien" and its a bizzare but cool scene. The archeological dig, the Prometheus heading towards LV -223 - We all know the build of the story, and it follows it to a tee. The 17 crew members - We get to meet about 8. Actually Holloway who I thought was a pain in the ass in all the featurettes and trailers is actually pretty cool, and when David "infects" him I have empathy. The character development with him was good! Its good with David, Shaw, Janek and Vickers - Although Vickers and Elba needed more story arc. So they enter the temple, all still going along very nicely and then they see a holographic recording of the engineers in the "suits" running away, escaping. Then they find the big head, the ampules, the storm comes, They steal the head and David steals an ampule, Fifield and Milburn (the two stooges - very amateur script writing for these guys) get lost and have to stay in the temple...........and this is where the story gets lost as well - Completely lost and turns into "make it up as we go along" Just like the labyrinth in the temple - For the next Forty minutes it all gets tangled and lost. Continuity errors galore - 17 crew members - We dont even get to meet them!!! What the fuck happens to them. As the story gets lost on itself it turns into an amateur farce....Really bad screenplay. Ridley HAS lost his mind. Lindeloff DID Jedi mind trick him. Why the derelict when it crashes wasnt the one they find in ALien is a travesty..... Thats how the story should have gone....Shaw even sends out a warning signal. The screenwriters should have at least given the fanboys this as opposed to a large Xeno bursting from the chest of the Impregnated Engineer at the end....who is in the Prometheus escape capsule.....Everything is rushed, inconsistent, actually gets a little boring and funny....It wreaks, positiveley wreaks of Lucas Syndrome.. In fact Ridley has gone and contracted George Lucas Syndrome - Lets all create it RIGHT NOW ......G L S!!! This movie has a classic case of G L S. Yes there are highlights...but whilst the movie was meandering around doing nothing it could have been exploring the engineers, where they come from, who are they? what is this facility....In fact in a quickly shot, cheap scene - Captain Janek tries to sum the story up to put it back on course for the audience (G L S) "This is NOT where the engineers are from (Janeks theory) This is a facility - possibly military, things went wrong, wiped them all out, there home is somewhere else"...Thanks for that Captain - Thanks for just saying something that should have been beautifully discovered throughout the film..... Let me give y'all a movie comparison.... Is Prometheus better than George Lucas Phantom Menace? YES Is it better than Revenge of the Sith NO WAY Is it better than Alien HA! Aliens HA! Alien 3 YES!!! Alien Resurrection YES!! AVP FILMS YES!! Although it is basicaly AVP without the predators, better actors and bigger budget. So much missed opportunities...Everybody on this forum who contributed ideas gave soooo much more than Sphaits and Lindeloff - WE ALL NEED TO BE HIRED FOR THE SEQUEL - SERIOUSLY!!! I wish I wasn't writing this review - I so wanted it to be a 5 star game changer....It isnt. Its full of holes like the ancient Jockeys Chest on the derelict, oh sorry I mean his suit. Star rating 3 out of 5 Will I watch it again Yep I will buy the blu ray. Am I disappointed? Yep If anybody wants any personal questions answered - feel free to PM me! Peace to you all - I have enjoyed this forum WAY more than the film! The High Priest

BS. You guys are complaining because this movie didn't lead directly into "Alien," not because there's anything inherently implausible about two SJ ships crashing. In one case, there was a mishap with a very dangerous cargo. In the other, another gigantic spacecraft rammed it. The two events were apparently separated by tens of thousands of years. Shit happens.....I daresay, even to "advanced" aliens.

Well, my review is somewhat further in, but be warned, its full of spoilers and some breakdown of some of the parts but after a while, I can't even be bothered to continue with the breakdown. Its too much trash really. If you want some spoilers and a breakdown and got some time to read: http://www.prometheus-movie.com/community/forums/topic/6600 Here is how I feel about it. Is Prometheus better than George Lucas Phantom Menace? And I`m not a fan of Star wars. No Is it better than Revenge of the Sith No Is it better than Alien HA! Aliens HA! Alien 3 HA! Alien Resurrection No AVP FILMS Nope Torque On par perhaps :P I mean you would need to go to a movie where the lead can actually say something as stupid like "I live my live by the quarter gallon" to find something comparable to this movie. The fact is, that if your a fan of the Alien series, you want so hard to like it and I did like the movies, but I'm not a fan boy like some people. Step back from the franchise a bit and then decide if its good or not ;)

It always amazes me how easy humanity finds it to correlate a movie to another, which rips out the creative innards. Ridley Scott can jump from one theme to another like it’s his own private cloud world; he never sells the audience short even though he plays many different cards, with a variety of actors. Movies are my passion; writing about influential films is a hobby that my frequent business trips for Dish are perfect for researching. Although “Prometheus” is still in theaters, I subscribe to Blockbuster @Home so I’ll be catching up on his older films that I get in the mail. By fall, the DVD will be out and I will launch my website and honor to Mr. Scott.
