I do NOT for one minute believe or even trust 90% of the reviews I have read, not only are they written wrong and show very little understanding of how to evaluate and judge a film, but most seem to me like the rants of what we refer to today as "Fan Boys" who have an Agenda of Hate on Fox in general and Spaihts, Lindelof and Ridley in particular and any potential success they might have and have decided that the film had to follow their expected fan boy desires rather than accepting the project for what it is and will always forever be...a Gift...because for any of them to even be here they would have to acknowledge that in their heart of hearts they have always felt that ALIEN was as close to a perfect film as they can fathom. They're part right about that...it IS..But the part they don't get is that because of that They Never Had to do this...THIS WAS FOR US, AND THEY'RE LOVE OF FILM MAKING AND NOTHING ELSE...MONEY'S GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, EVERYONE INVOLVED IS ALREADY FILTHY RICH!!! WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE ANY NEW FILM FROM THE SAME UNIVERSE..."LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY" !!!
Before even seeing this thing I find it absolutely impossible to believe that anything I have read regarding it having any merit what so ever...reads to me...all of it...all of the negativity like petty jealousy and uneducated stupidity. Every Fan review of it I have read just about is negative and every Critics review I have read of it calls it a near Masterpiece! Most giving it 4 of 5 or 9 on 10 stars from Production values thru the acting and on into regard for the actual story. Just the fact the Space Jockey is even in this makes it a Miracle of a film IMHO...just to have that thing in ANY FILM ever would have been...so excuse me if I find that YES, if all that negativity came out of France, well then France doesn't have a clue what a good film is if you ask me, or any other country...I'll make up my own mind thank you very much and find it illogical that any 200 million or so film directed and conceived by in collaboration with Ridley Scott is going to even have a chance of "sucking". The mere nature of the reviews I have read bothers me, they all read like pathetic attempts to discredit the people who wrote and made it rather than evaluating the film on it's artistic and technical merits...like making a cobra hugger is something YOU ALL DO EVERY DAY and FILM BETTER and like you KNOW how to do any better?...seriously...Like I said 90% of what I have read to me reads like Complete B.S. I have NEVER in 50 Years seen trailers that looked that magnificent, if the film looks anything like them at all...The story really isn't going to be that important it'll take care of itself I am sure!!! Most of all the reviews I have read from the fans just lack any kind of film reviewing structure and credibility and all just seem like personal rants of frustration from little boys and girls who are crying because they didn't get what they wanted for Christmas! It is NOT easy to make a motion picture it is a collaborative art and NO ONE on these boards who has said bad things about this film, has shown me even one SAMPLE of the WORK THEY Themselves have done that is better...and in my mind to have even a spec of credibility after you say stuff like what all these suddenly new members with 3 posts and 2 days here have been saying about this film, including some who clearly have been downloading this thing and watching it on some cruddy camera copy... you had better produce the work you all did that's better...otherwise what you say is complete and utter nonsense. I chose to Have Faith, common says I should and it also says most of what I have read from the naysayers is complete "Rubish", never the less If on the outside chance it turns out tonight that any of it is, I will Promptly admit it!!! In the mean time I choose to keep the Faith, Ridley Scott is an extraordinary film maker and I find it quite likely that I will be impressed with his work here. I think the Biggest reason people got upset is because they all REALIZED THIS FILM WILL CHALLENGE EVERYTHING WE BELIEVE ABOUT OUR CREATION AND WHAT RELIGION HAS BEEN TEACHING US...people do not like to have their faulty belief systems challenged...ever...and I strongly suspect this film does this on some level and the mere suggestion of it sent these naysayers into a tail spin, they simply can not accept or understand anything that challenges their own religious beliefs and habits. I strongly suspect this film was TOO cerebral for these negative reviewers and must be filled with inuendo and symbolism they refuse to embrace because it would challenge their own belief system. By the way, NOT ONE negative review spoke of "Symbolism" which I find in and of itself completely discredits every single negative review I read !!! It's the most common device in Cinema and i surely sprinkled all over this thing !!! NO one who was negative even mentioned it.
