I have to change my review/opinion of Prometheus

I gave it a 8/10 originally but.... It's a 10/10. I have seen it 3 times in the cinema and the script is simply brilliant. There are moments when the movie is elevated to high art when script and visuals and directing come together perfectly and inspire the BIG questions that a great movie (and sci fi) should come up with. In particular the scene where the crew change the 'atmosphere' in the room of the big head sculpture and the two opposing murals....and we see one mural disintegrating and the mural of the destroyer remain stable.....and the worms are wriggling in the black goo...and the storm arises. It's one of the mightiest moments i have ever seen in a movie. And then Scotts comments the past few days...and the debates that the film has inspired. This will be a classic on par with Alien, but dealing with alot more profound and disturbing questions.

I could never give any movie a 10/10! Nothing is perfect! BUT I am glad you liked it so much. :)

I agree it's a far better film than I thought it was after my first viewing. (I almost had steam coming out of my ears.) Brilliantly pulled off. Going to be talked about for a long time.

So, you didn't find anything wrong with the "biologist" trying to pet the alien cobra that was quite clearly threatened by the guy? A real biologist would never in their right mind try anything that ridiculously stupid on Earth, let alone on an unexplored alien world they have literally just landed on less than 12 hours earlier................

Never say never. People are stupid or sometimes have ulterior motives for their actions as explained above. Even some biologists. And like I said before, it's a movie. Let yourself go and suspend a little disbelief for 2 hours. Funny how so many gripe about the little things that make little sense but say nothing of all the things that make perfect sense. Things that the makers of the film studied very hard and researched to get right.

To be honest, as the biologist is only human, yes, humans tend to do stupid things al the time.

Clearly every biologist in the entire universe should all act in the same exact way with caution and without curiosity in any way shape or form. The thing didn't seem to be a threat at the time, he was curious and naive. Nit picker..

Sorry, but I thought Ridley Scott was trying to make things seem realistically scientific in this movie, and no biologist I have ever known (and my cousin is a marine biologist, so I do know a thing or two about the procedures they employ) would EVER try to pet an un-known creature.

[quote]Clearly every biologist in the entire universe should all act in the same exact way with caution and without curiosity in any way shape or form. Have curiosity, yes, but biologists would never attempt to pet a creature they have no experience with before knowing what that creature's defense mechanisms are. And why would a naive biologist be on as important a mission as this one? I'm sorry, but your logic is flawed.

I'm sure if I watched Sucker Punch enough times I would probably start to like it as well. Maybe I should. I think every time you watch a film you do not like you get desensitized to the negative emotions you feel when you watch it and after enough viewings, the faults of the film no longer bother you. I am sure if I watched Sucker Punch every day and there was tons of discussion going on about how mysterious and deep it was, I would also have a bias towards viewing the film in favorable light. Not judging, just interesting to observe this behavior.

I am not attacking anyone here but obviously we all saw the movie with different eyes. But when I see 10/10 then I think these people work for Ridley or 20th Century Fox lol.

I think it's weird that the biologist was scared of the blip from the pups that indicated life - scared enough to head in the opposite direction. Scared of a blip but a completely foreign species of schlongsnake is 'beautiful' and he wants to give it a pat. Then again, maybe it's freudian.
